According to a league source with knowledge of the negotiations, the Patriots are about to make the splash of free agency by agreeing to a contract with Ravens linebacker Adalius Thomas, considered one of the top players on the market.

 

“Thomas is done there,” said the source, a rival executive.

If true then this is as big, if not bigger then the Colvin signing of 03. Thomas can play both inside and outside linebacker along with being able to play defensive end. This will allow the Pats to go from 3-4 to 4-3 when situations dictate without missing a beat.

The New England Patriots are very close to signing Ravens OLB Adalius Thomas, the deal could still be announced today. While not completed the number will be basically be $7.5 million per year and $17 million guaranteed. The 49ers are the only real compeition at this point, but the Patriots have his ear and shortly probably his signature to go with it

 

And Adam Schefter is reporting Nate Clements has signed with the 49ers at 8 years $80mill with $22mill guarenteed.

Pretty much makes the first round picks become middle linebacker and strong safety. Time to find the future replacements for Bru and Rodney.

And DAMN did Clements get a LOT of money.

The 49ers have a TON of cap space, so anyone that wants a big contract should give them a ring.

 

I think they're going to trade one of those picks for a 2nd and a third/fourth (or a first next year like they did with the Ravens a few years ago).

listening to EEI and according to Adam Schefter of the NFL network the Pats may try to trade UP and get Laron Landry of LSU. That would be a pretty sick defense right there
