Why don't you just learn to play the mellotron and get it over with?

Save for a couple of spots, the mellotron on Lizard isn't as intrusive as it is on the first two albums. Speaking of which, I was listening to this in my office today, when someone stopped by to talk to me right when this real mellotron-heavy part hit of whatever song (I can't recall which one) was playing. I was embarrassed.

I was referring to Islands. I haven't listened to it in forever, but I remember the mellotron being laid on awfully thick.

It isn't, really, especially compared to the first two KC albums.

 

Anyway, Islands is dull. Best track is "Sailor's Tale," which works because it features some deliciously nasty guitar from Fripp. However, that's countered by some surprisingly awful sax-work from the usually reliable Mel Collins.
