Well, I was off about Shooter. Last week, I'd hardly seen any TNMT promotion but it really amp'd up and it was plastered all over. Disapointed that Sandler's movie didn't go over so well. Hoping he would do well and encourage him to stop making crap like Click.

Can't believe Wild Hogs is sticking around.

Damn, I thought Pride was out next week. Still even so, a slightly disappointing finish.

I expected TMNT to be Top 3 but not #1. The Hills Have Eyes 2, Reign Over Me and Shooter all did less than I thought they would do.

The only one of those movies that is remotely a disappointment is Shooter. I figured that had a notable star in Wahlberg and at least looked like a decent action movie. Reign Over Me is a Sandler drama, which is like the kiss of death at the box office since he doesn't draw in stuff like that. Hills Have Eyes 2 is a sequel to a remake that nobody really cares about, so I figured it would tank. You might remake a horror movie and make some initial money, but much like that TCM prequel, nobody will care on that 2nd rehash. As far as Pride goes, I had two different friends go off on rants about how stupid that movie looked:

"This movie looks so weak. Most black people I know hate to swim."

"Oh great, another movie where the inspirational all black team faces the evil all white team. Lame."

Considering the amount of theaters, and what the movie is about... Reign Over Me actually did quite well. Next week will be the bigger test for it. Though it's sad that a movie with a lot of Oscar buzz around it got pushed back so far.

I can't believe how poorly "Reign Over Me" did. Sandler will never do another drama

Which would be pretty sad considering how good Punch Drunk Love was. Though really he basically played a more serious and violent variation of the character he always plays.

Sandler didn't do Reign to make money. He did it because it was a great role and would give him some credibility. It won't keep him from doing dramas.

After getting bored this weekend, I went to an old fashioned theater that was showing "Wild Hogs". I was surprised to discover, it's actually pretty damn funny. William H. Macy to no surprise steals it and keeps it rolling along. Plus it has Marisa Tomei doing sexy poses for the sake of doing sexy poses I guess. Solid cast, it just rolls along at a quick fire pace and it's actually worth a few bucks if you have it.

Not perfect but I've seen worse ways to spend an hour and 40 minutes.
