Say, how about Tom Waits and Wilco? Did Sky Blue Sky officially come out yesterday? I listened to some of the second disc of Orphans today.

Whatever the hell this is, it wasn't Linkin Park. More political crap, less Shinoda, and too much Chester made this album the pass for me. It just sounded like cookie cutter bullshit and without Mike doing his rhymes, this is a pile of horse manure with a BUSH IS EVIL OMG sign in it.

I really didn't see where LP matured, if anything they have become more whiny and Green Day-ish than ever. And neither of those things is a positive. Least the Fort Minor album still exist but this thing isn't finding it's way into my collection unless the fiancee gets it. Which I doubt cause even she hates the damn thing and she's obsessed with Linkin Park.

I'm slightly curious about this album due to Rick Rubin producing it.

I would consider going to Projekt Revolution only to see Mindless Self Indulgence and Placebo though.

I think that's what makes it sad most of all, ick Ruben produced it. You would think that it would have been better then what was put out. I think he may be losing his touch.

I've never been particularly impressed with Rick Rubin's work producing rock music. I like those first couple of Slayer albums, but those are 15-20 years old at this point. He's just an old dude with a funny beard now, one who occasionally comes up with a good rap backing track.

Rubin's been coasting on his reputation for years. As Edwin alluded to, he can still produce a great rap single now and then (ref. "99 Problems"), but outside of that, what? And don't throw Johnny Cash in my face; the string of Rubin-produced American recordings were little more than cashing in (pun not intended) on a man's legacy.

I wouldn't flat out say that Cash's releases on American were flat out cashing out. I'd say it was more of a vanity project for Rubein to work with Cash and it seems to have worked out well for both parties.

I'm curious what Rubin and Metallica come up with. It can't be worse than St. Anger.

If you heard what he did with Linkin Park, it can be worse.

I got this album 2 weeks ago and have tried to listen to it more then once to try to get into it since I am a very big LP fan, I have every album they have come out with (including the LP Underground cds), but this cd is shit. I can't get through it without turning it off. This is their worst album to date. I consider it their Load or Risk. It is up to them to figure out if their next album will be Re-Load or The World Needs a Hero.

Load and [/b]The World Needs A Hero[/b] are splendid albums, and shouldn't even be compaired to the LP CD. Hell it shouldn't even be compaired to Re-Load either

All I'm saying is that both Metallica and Megadeth tried something new and those albums were Load and Risk repectfully. Both albums were not loved by the fans because of them being so different. This new album is like those since LP tried something different and the census from the fans is that they don't like the new sound and direction too much. With their next album there is two different was they can go, Re-Load, which was the same sound as Load and loathed by the fans, or The World Needs a Hero, an album that went back to it's roots and the fans loved. The choice is up to the guys in LP.

So people really do like Linkin Park after their freshman year of high school. The things you learn.

I can appreciate those Linkin Park songs which feature cheesy synths and drum loops. (I have terrible taste in music.)

I don't think they existed when I was a freshman. I feel old.

I don't think they existed until I was a sophomore in college.
