Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I'm tired of reading so much garbage in the sports forum. And if I flame anyone there, the usual know-it-all mods will enforce their cruel punishment on me. Therefore, I am starting a competition. I will address every bad post in the sports forum here, and points will be given for how terrible you are. Most points wins! Leaderboard: Disabled.
Failed Bridge Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I don't think there are any bad posters really left in that forum. Havoc isn't a regular so his whole hissyfit on the Michael Vick thing doesn't count, but his over-reaction seems to be the only idiotic thing in there at the moment. Otherwise its been the best spot on this board since Damaramu was sent packing.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 We'll be starting from 21 May. I can't go back too far. I'm a trailblazer fan. He seems to be a pretty decent owner, by all accounts. Of course that opinion of him will go to shit if he moves the team, although it seems much more unlikely now. Didn't he use to own the Seattle Sonics as well? EDIT: Nevermind. Wiki has a nice, concise entry on him: In 1988, Allen purchased the Portland Trail Blazers NBA team from Harry Glickman for $70 million, and was instrumental in the development and funding of their Rose Garden Arena in 1993. One of Allen's most memorable moments as owner of the Trail Blazers was his participation in a hot dog eating contest at halftime of a 2002 game against the Denver Nuggets. Allen ate ten hot dogs in 12 minutes, but lost to world champion Takeru Kobayashi. In 1997, Allen purchased the Seattle Seahawks NFL team when former owner Ken Behring threatened to move the Seahawks to Southern California. He played a large part in the development of the new Seahawks' stadium, Qwest Field, although it was funded largely by tax revenue. Since 2006, Allen has been asking Portland and Oregon officials for assistance in the financing of the Blazers, which he estimated would lose $100 million over the next three years. Portland Mayor Tom Potter has so far rebuffed the requests. According to a 2006 issue of Forbes, the Blazers are valued at approximately $300 million. On 27 April 2007, it was rumoured that Allen may launch a takeover bid for English football club Southampton. An apparent close source said "he believes there is long term investment value in UK Soccer. Southampton is a sleeping giant, a family-supported club with traditional values, and we see the value in taking the brand global." Hey, did you guys know I moved to Portland? I'm kinda successful and stuff! Nobody cares. This poster has no knowledge of the topic (Paul Allen), and wasted space. And copied from wikipedia in an edit, for whatever reason. Hey, asshole, we know how to search things online. However, this is a fairly minor infraction. And I'm sure this poster will have many more in the future, so we'll be lenient for now. Vitamin X - 2 point infraction.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I forgot Chris Mullin was on that team. This is about the 1992 Dream Team. Apparently, Kotzenjunge didn't watch any of the games as Mullin was one of the main players on the team. And it's not like Mullin was some marginal player back then. He was an All-Star every freaking year in the late 80s-early 90s. Being ignorant about a topic is not a reason to post. Kotzenjunge - 3 point infraction.
Guest Vitamin X Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Hey, did you guys know I moved to Portland? I'm kinda successful and stuff! Nobody cares. Where did I say any of that there or imply it? Big fucking deal. This poster has no knowledge of the topic (Paul Allen), and wasted space. And copied from wikipedia in an edit, for whatever reason. Hey, asshole, we know how to search things online. 1. I know who Paul Allen is, and contributed more than the one sentence replies the thread had. 2. I copied from wikipedia, and apparently whoever posed the question did not know how to search things online because a quick google search turned that up. It was just a small history, none of which was inaccurate. Of course, you will just be looking to find things to nitpick about with the "clique a" members, so I'm not really all that surprised.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Once again, Hasek is the reason why Detroit lost last night. (Uneccessary flopping) Hasek made 24 of 26 saves in this contest. He's played that way his entire career and has been incredibly successful. Also, that Giguere guy is pretty good at hockey lately. Selanne was given the puck right in front of the net on a horrible giveaway. What is Hasek supposed to do? Stand still and give one of the greatest scorers of all-time an easy shot? Awful. Plus, horrendous spelling. This is thesmartmarks.com/forums, get that shit out of here. redbaron51 - 5 point infraction.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 How many times can one network claim that one team "outplayed" the other team and lost before re-evaluating their definition of "outplaying"? Tune into any hockey segment on ESPN to find out, apparently. Detroit's outplaying them in the parts that don't put goals on the board, which unfortunately happen to be the only parts that count. I guess this one hasn't watched much hockey. The term "outplayed" is when one hockey team earns more scoring opportunities than the other team, but one of the opposing goalies has an outstanding game, or the opposing gets lucky bounces their way. Quite often, the better team doesn't win in hockey. I would have let this go... but he threw in that ESPN dig like he's some hockey expert, and only morons use this term. Wrong. oldskool - 1 point infraction.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Let's not make this embarassing now. And I'll admit though that we really do miss Scheidner ESPECIALLY on the powerplay. Lidstrom & Schiender from the point are key. You spelled Schneider wrong. Twice. In two different ways. And you weren't even close. Ugh. packwingfn - 1 point infraction.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 oh settle down, losers. they are getting outplayed because they are older, have played more, and are spread too thin. i wouldn't consider this season to be a disappointment. besides, this game isn't over. they just can't force it too much. 1) Flaming. 2) When you're the Red Wings, not winning the cup is a disappointment. Even Sabres fans are filled with disappointment. Banky - 1 point infraction.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 It just hit me. This really sucks dick. I mean, what if these dickholes win? This is going to destroy me. Sens or bust. I can't see this arena full of people that do not give a shit about hockey or more importantly, their team, get to see their boys lift the Cup. It just wouldn't be fair. He used "dick" twice in a span of seven words. Yeah, he's really improved from his "Eat a Dick" days. King - 1 point infraction.
Slayer Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 So, oranges... they're good for you, nice source of vitamin C, fairly tasty... but sometimes they're just so goddamn hard to peel. Sometimes I use a knife to cut around the equator of the orange and rip from there, unless I'm feeling fairly adventurous and I just tear into the fruit with my bare fingers. Yes it's fairly messy, but I can't deny that orange flavor.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Trained monkeys can fill up the seats for a championship game, so don't pat yourselves on the backs too much, Anaheim. (Though that's more than New Jersey can do.) Sens in however many it takes to give Canada the Stanley Cup. Not only did Anaheim sell out over half their games this year, but they've also been above average attendance percentage for most years of its existence. Czech - 3 point infraction.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Having thought about it I would say the most overrated player of all time is Mark McGuire. Dude hit homers and did nothing else. Couldn't field, couldn't throw, couldn't run, and couldn't hit for average. If he never had that 70 homer season then there would be no HoF controversy because he probably wouldn't be mentioned. McGwire. He played first base, why would he need a great throwing arm. Plus, McGwire was actually a very good fielder, even in his later days. In his early Oakland days, the BA stat applies... but, in the mid to late 90s, he had an amazing OBP. Frigid - 4 point infraction.

Yes it's fairly messy, but I can't deny that orange flavor. You know what goes dynamite with orange slices? Granola bars. It's like a 4th Grade Snack Pack, it's really great. I like peanut butter chocolate chip the most. It's robust with just a hint of sweetness.
Guest Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I prefer Chocolate Chip. The granola bar gives me enough of the chocolate, but not so much that I'd feel like I was eating a candy bar. Less is more sometimes, ya know.
Slayer Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Granola bars are highly underrated. While I could run with the sexy pick of a chocolate covered Kudos bar, I have to stick with the healthier classics and go with good ol' Nature's Valley, but only the original honey flavor. The peanut butter bars don't seem to sit well with me for some reason
Guest George's Box Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Nature's Valley? If I wanted to eat tree bark, I'd go in my back yard. Where I have trees. Then eat the bark. Because that's what they taste like. Tree bark.
Slayer Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Actually, the new yogurt covered Nature's Valley are pretty good too, especially Vanilla flavored

Guest George's Box Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 My concept of the granola bar is soft and chewy, not dry and rigid. I grew up a Quaker kid, and I'll be in the cold cold ground before I eat a Nature's Valley.
Slayer Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Whatever happened to Nutra Grain the cereal, anyway? I really enjoyed that stuff as a kid, in between rounds of Fruity Pebbles or Cap'n Crunch when the parents wanted to periodically inject a healthy cereal into my diet, but now the name of Nutra Grain seems only to live on in the form of a (albeit tasty) cereal bar. Blueberry

Guest Queen Leelee Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 The difference being the coaching. I cannot see Skiles commanding respect from Zach Randolph. And if that's the case, that's a wasted trade for Chicago. Ripper likes to call Amare an asshole, but Amare is younger and has a lot of upside, so that far outweighs the risks that might come with getting him. Randolph? The Bulls are trying to get younger, not older. This was corrected immediately, but this must be added. Geez. Porter - 3 point infraction.
Guest Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 I just had two Peanut Butter Nature's Valley granola bars, and I've gotta say that it left me with a hankerin' for some root beer. I was thinking about taking a brisk journey to the gas station around the corner, so any suggestions would be nice.
