Well there's a lot more reasons for that (especially lately with all the phishing and ever more prevalent spam), but yeah that's part of it.

 

Oh, and the fact that people have absolutely no idea how to properly design a webpage and just jam pack it full of shit makes going to most of these pages unbearable. At least mine has a nice look to it, and can work on lower bandwidths as well.
