Winner of KOTR

Recommended Posts

So, given the two favorites in the tournament are Brock Lesnar and Booker T., right now the possibilities are looking like...

Triple H vs. Brock

Triple H vs. Booker T.

Undertaker vs. Brock

Undertaker vs. Booker T.

Not exactly a major draw, unless they do a LOT of work on Brock and Booker in the next few weeks.  My fear, however, is that with either Triple H or Undertaker in the top spot, that they will no-sell and squash the heat of their opponent, no matter which one it is.  Undertaker has killed Booker before, and could kill Brock's aura.  Triple H would most likely bitch about having to put over either guy, and in Brock's case, would try to make him look bad.  For once, I'm hoping they hotshot the title between now and Summerslam.  Put it on Flair and have him take on Brock, put it back on Angle, let Jericho actually RUN WITH IT...but get it away from the Human Heat Suckers quickly.

And if Val, Holly or Test win the KOTR in preperation for Failed Pushes 101, then I will lose all faith in the WWE (not like there is much left these days.)

The KOTR has only gotten a title shot at Summerslam 3 times since KOTR has been on PPV and only 2 of those were one on one matches.  94, Owen(K) v Bret, 95, Mabel(K, Ugh), v Diesel, & 2000, Angle(K) v Rock v HHH.

None of the KOTR's have won the title at the next SummerSlam either, so I don't think your argument has much merit.

You forgot about Jericho and RVD.  They COULD win...

I could see RVD winning if UT retains. They have past history, and a credible feud could be built around it, provided that RVD actually beats UT in the end.

History has proven, however, that the WW_ writing staff doesn't have the mental acumen for providing entertaining storytelling, especially when it pretty much writes itself...

Were this to happen, we'll be seeing a Test-HHH Summerslam ME. C'mon guys, you know it's true.

Ok, I see a few ways I'd like it to go...

1) Taker retains til SS, RVD wins KotR. Both times they've fought on Raw, I thought they did a damn good job, and that's established past history. Provided RVD wins at SS, this could work wonders.

2) Triple H wins and keeps til SS, Jericho wins KotR. Provided Triple H doesn't just squish him again, this could be Jericho's last chance to get back to the Main Event.

3) If Trip wins and goes heel, Booker or RVD vs him at SS would be cool.

Holly/Test, MOTN on Smackdown!

I'm pretty sure Taker will hold the belt till Summerslam.  The undisupted title has been passed around like a doobie since Wrestlemania and needs to stay on one champion.  I see Summerslam being Undertaker vs. Booker T/or RVD.  I'm leaning more towards Booker T as I see him going over in the tourny staring tonight by kicking Brock Lesnar's ass.

If Booker wins and the brand extension is no more then Triple might join the nWo.

I think they're going to pull the trigger on the Brock face turn tonight with Heyman negotiating with the NWO, only they cost Brock the match.

Yes, but then it would kill the idea of what happened last week, with Brock going after Flair.

I just hope that it doesn't lead to McMahon and Heyman creating a new Corporation.  And, bringing up a previous topic, am I the only one who feels that Arn Anderson's actions of last week (backing down quickly from Brock, not helping Flair)are going to turn him heel tonight?

Ok its pretty obvious that these four will go to the ppv.

TEST

RVD

LESNER

JERICHO

Now who will win. The stipulation that the winner gets a title shot at SummerSlam narrows it down to those four, so who is more deserving?

TEST - Ha! Yeah right, man test has had more pushes toward the main event that have failed and doesn't deserve it.

RVD - Strangely enough, one of my fantasy match ups I have always wanted to see was RVD/HHH. That was the HHH before his injury, and RVD now. Assuming HHH doesnt ruin RVD I would like to see RVD become king.

JERICHO - No. I am sorry, although he may deserve it after being HHH's bitch for soo long, it wont happen cause he has been champ before for 3 months.

LESNER - this seems the most obvious. After last monday it seems only logical that lesner will win and with all the talk that he is going to be pushed after austin left. Seems strange to me that the new commer is going to be pushed to the moon soo soon but lesner is good enough so I dont mind.

I think it will be RVD. Lesner may get a shot at Vengence or they could make it a 3 way at SS. All I know is that Summerslam is the 2nd biggest ppv in the WWE so I hope they don't screw it up.

The reason I didnt put Booker T in there is because tonight on RAW Booker T faces Lesner in the quarter finals so I see Booker T loosing, thus lesner advancing.

I don't think that Brock will go over Booker. Out of the four people that you picked, only one is a face (RVD). It would probably make more sense for Booker to go over Brock

Here is what I see:

RVD

Jericho

Holly (he'll beat Test via DQ or something, set up a SMDN feud which Test eventually wins)

Brock

Booker got fucked in the drawing really, given the heatless wonders on the SMDN side of the tourney.

Was it just me or did D'Lo say Lesnar was the DARK HORSE last night???  Is he out of his mind?

the coach caught him and said that even with the lack of experience he still has what it takes to become king of the ring.

i going for booker and if lesnar advances tonight then it is a crime, because he hasn't had a good match since debuting.

Well...

of the 6 left I'm throwing away Val, Holly and Test right now...cause they aint main eventing Summerslam.

Jericho- His contract comes up before SS...something tells me that he isn't in their booking plan for the main event...besides that it would be Jericho vs. HHH again...no point in that.

Brock- NOT OVER.  I'm sorry but there it is.  I think Brock will win.  HHH will beat him at SS (but will put Brock over ala Jericho in 2000).   Oh...and picture a Brock vs. HHH match...and remember...HHH can't bump.

RVD- Only if Taker is still champion.  If he is...IT HAS TO BE RVD VS. TAKER.  They have history, they have chemistry...and RVD would likely win this time...and you know...given the history the title change would actually mean something.  I've said it before:  IF RVD is going to win a world title...it should be from Taker...it is the only thing that Taker has left to give to the sport.

Well, I'd like Jericho to win, but not at the expense of becoming HHH's job boy again. I'd be better for Jericho to lose to an over RVD and have a good match. Then to lose to HHH again.

RVD v. Taker is the best way to go out of what's left. That's the only way I can see making sense. I think Brock will be huge one day, but if they push him into the main event of the 2nd or 3rd biggest event of the year something is wrong. And as BPS pointed out Brock v. HHH would not be a 5 star classic.

Now that Book is gone (once again, fuck you Vince), I'd say RVD is pretty much a lock.  So, it could be:

RVD vs Taker, or RVD vs a heel HHH.

He might beat Taker...but I just don't see Hunter jobbing to RVD, especially not after a fresh turn, assuming that's what happens.

But we should still fear HHH vs King Test the Heatless...

RVD should go over because he and the Undertaker already have a feud going on from last month.  Whereas Brock isn't really ready, Jericho hasn't been resigned yet, and the other 3 SD! guys all suck.

Im thinking one of the two will happen:

RVD beats Brock, Taker retains and the two meet up at SS

Brock beats RVD, HHH beats Taker, Brock and HHH meet at SS, HHH nails the pedigree 2 or 3 times, being the first man to beat Brock

Well, the beatdown they had Jericho lay on Edge gives me hope that they might try to rebuild him with a King of The Ring victory and a monster heel march to Summerslam (where he would finally win?)

Hope springs eternal, after all.  In this scenario, it would be Jericho beating RVD and Brock getting dqed for unnecessary roughness against either Holly or Test who would temporarily be made pity face.  OR, actually, more likely given their lack of sympathetic charisma, Brock goes to the finals to job to Jericho's finger poke of doom (and later to become his muscle man or dare I say Enforcer?)

But, if Jericho's contract is up before summerslam and he has yet to resign as the people on this forum suggest, then, well, I would say they'd have RVD beat him and a Brock / RVD final.

In which case Brock would probably win, because KOTR is traditionally a Heel's event.  (A heel usually wins: Owen 94, Mabel 95, Austin 96, HHH 97, Billy Gunn 99, Angle 00, a heel winning percentage of .667).

RVD might get the win if Undertaker holds on to the belt, but my hurri-senses are tingling such that I don't think UT is holding the belt.  I'm optimistic, but my hurri-senses are very, VERY cynical, especially when you-know-who and his sledgehammer are involved.

So look for Brock vs The Lame at Summerslam and, as someone already predicted, The Lame putting Brock down with 3 pedigrees.

I can see it now. Jericho makes Brock look like a Million bucks in the KOTR final. Brock attacks The Rock at the end. Rock and Brock feud for the next until Vengeance where Rock will put Brock over Big Time and then Brock will go on to Summerslam to face Triple H for the belt.

But, leading up to Summerslam for the next Month, Triple H embarrasses Brock time after time again and then Finally at Summerslam Triple H beats Brock CLEAN to give Lesnar his first major lost and to hold on to the title. Only to watch all of Brocks, Jericho's and Rocky's hard work go down the drain.

People, I wouldn't be suprised if I was you if come KOTR, Rocky somehow leaves the building with the Undisputed World Title. Think about it...

...Rocky gets an impromtu title shot against the winner of Taker/HHH, Rocky wins it. Then on the other side, Brock Lesnar wins the KOTR. Then, from here to SummerSlam, we build up a Rocky Vs. Lesnar match for said title. Lesnar wins it in a huge upset, with Vince's help (Vince says Brock is the next big thing and that Rocky can just go back to Hollywood). After the loss, Rocky goes back to Hollywood to film his next two movies.

Seems like something logical to me, don't ya think?
