Scroby Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 So I've been thinking of selling some stuff on Ebay but I'm not sure how it works excatly. Does it cost money? If so, is there a flat rate on how much Ebay charges you or depending on how much you want to sell something, Ebay takes a certain percentage of what you sell your item for? Oh and how would I figure out a shipping and handling cost? When I normally buy something from someone, I see there's already a shipping and handling cost set, is that person just throwing out a random amount for it to make sure it's covered? I have other questions, but I just can't think of them right now. Any advice would be great as well. I really don't want to start selling stuff on Ebay just going into it blindly.
Youth N Asia Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 first there are listing fees. Before anything sells it costs you money to even have it on there. Say a low entry price (99 cents) with a gallery picture (so it'll show up as a pic in the initial heading)...right there is almost 50 cents or so. Then I think they take like 5% of the final cost. Shipping is for you to decide. A lot of ebayers will sell at a low price but gouge like an asshole on shipping to make extra cash
Guest thekempo Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 You have to pay a listing fee and that is judged by how much you put the item up for. The more expensive you set the first bid at, the more you have to pay for listing. So you could sell the item for $100,000, but if you listed it at only $1, then you'd only pay the $1 listing fee rate. They don't take any money of the final cost. Shipping is up to you. It's best to weigh the item first at a post office so you don't put the shipping too low.
