This week in the NBA

Jason Kidd needs to get the fuck out of Jersey.

Shame that organization never has had any luck with big men, because Jefferson's playing like an All-Star this year and Carter has been good the last year-plus. Kristic was starting to show a lot before his knees went to shit. Kinda like Rony Seikaly ten years ago...had a career year with the Nets then his body just gave out. Jason Collins is so horrible, he shouldn't start anywhere let alone with a team trying to win the East.

Kidd's 35 years old, he won't be playing at an all star level for too long. There are a lot of title contenders that would benefit from a great point guard like Kidd. I hope Houston tries it's best and makes a trade for him, Kidd/T-Mac/Yao would be great.

Not one single part of jason kidds game relys on athletism now. he isn't the defender that he once was, but he should be able to continue to play at the level he is playing at right now for another 5 years honestly if he wanted to.

He stays close to the ground, he isn't sprinting from inline to inline like he used to. he just plays smart. At 38-39 he is still going to be one of the best points in the league.

Either way the window is closing shut on Jason Kidd winning a championship. Kidd is my favorite basketball player ever, and I just want to see him win a ring. It's the only thing he pretty much needs to accomplish. Everyone and their mothers know he was the true MVP in 2001/2002. He's played 13 years and has never been with a great big man, which has hurt him. There's no point in staying in Jersey where they have not made the effort to put great talent around Kidd.

Rafer Alston

Jamaal Tinsley

Sam Cassell

Derek Fisher

Damon Stoudamire

Jason Williams

Jason Kidd

Chris Paul

Stephon Marbury

Jameer Nelson

Andre Miller

Steve Nash

Steve Blake

Mike Bibby

Tony Parker

I don't see many of those guys coming off the bench for Calderon. He's a good player, but I hope these people on this fanboard aren't aspiring GM's.

I love Calderon's game. Personally, I think he's a better player than TJ Ford. Much better shooter for sure, can finish in the paint, doesn't turn the ball over nearly as much (he's actually leading the league in A/T ratio right now by a wide margin. Ford has 12 more turnovers in 5 less games), and a better defender. He's also got good size for a PG and is pretty scrappy. Ford is really quick and can make some spectacular plays, but he's also prone to being reckless, doesn't have deep range and his jumpshot is inconsistent. Plus he's a major injury risk. I thought Milwaukee got the best of that trade, and while Villanueva hasn't been very good for them, I still think TJ Ford is overrated.

So yeah, I'd put Calderon right outside of my top 10. I definitely like him better than Nelson and Daniels at this point. It's close but probably more than Tinsley too, who even when he's playing well turns the ball over a ton and shoots sub-40%.

I don't know man, despite his shooting woes, TJ ford keeps that offense moving alot better than Calderon. Yeah, he is injury prone, but I think he is by far and away the best point guard they have in Toronto. Calderon is a good player, but I don't think he makes his teammates nearly as good as Ford does, will make more plays because he isn't overly safe.

Calderon is one hell of a consistant shooter though. I will give you that.

I personally don't see how anyone could even begain to suggest that Calderon is having a better year or is a better point guard than Tinsley right now just because he shoots the ball better though. Tinsley is averaging more points, rebounds, assist, and steals. Hell, Calderon is bettering Jason Kidd only in shooting too, and I don't think anyone would be crazy enough to make the argument that he is having a better year than kid.

I like Caldron, but I think he is a player that would be completely useless in a slow it down, grind it out offense, while I think a guy like Ford could be good in any system.

Tinsley is averaging one more assist and less than one more rebound in 10 more minutes a night, big deal. As a starter Calderon is averaging 12 points, 10.5 assists, just 1.5 turnovers and stellar shooting %'s in 35 minutes a game. Toronto was 5-3 with him starting, and Bosh basically missed 5 of those games, plus Bargnani was hurt. Their team played great last season when Calderon was in there. And I'm not sure why you think he couldn't succeed in a slower offense.

I've seen Tinsley's play sabotage his team too many times over the years. He's having his best season in years, and I don't have any problem saying he's one of the most talented PG out there, but I don't trust him. He's as liable to brick a dozen shots and turn the ball over 5 or 6 times as he is to go for a near triple double. And he's definitely benefiting from an up tempo system this year. We've seen him play on half court "grind it out" teams and it wasn't pretty. Hell, the Pacers often looked better when Anthony Johnson was running the team.
