HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 …Buffering… …Buffering… …Buffering… ………… Promo: “Far From Elysium” ---------------------------------------------------- The scene opens up in the middle of a hallway inside the SWF office building. The shot is merely a brick wall, but after a few moments, the figure of “Hollywood” Spike Jenkins steps in front of the camera. He looks at the camera, slightly startled, as if not expecting anyone to be there. “Why, hello there!” Spike Jenkins welcomes. “I wasn’t expecting you internet fans at home to be there. But never mind that, I’m glad you’re all here. Who am I to pass up an opportunity to speak directly to my fans?” Jenkins turns his body towards the camera, a sly smirk forming across his face. “As all of you know, December 19th, the SWF brings to you our annual Christmas show. This year, it is headlined by two of the greatest cruiserweights to ever step foot in this ring. The Wildchild defends the SWF Cruiserweight Championship against none other than yours truly, Spike Jenkins. Can you imagine that? I will be main eventing the last show of the year. I will be participating in the last match of 2007. The booking committee…the production crew…the entire company has bestowed upon me the honor of putting on a match to end the year on a high note. They must have a lot of faith in me…and well, can you blame them?” Jenkins chuckles, but puts a hand up as if to stop himself. “But wait, I’m getting ahead of myself.” “First off, it isn’t just me that the company has faith in. You know, this match is a huge deal…the main event slot and the last match of 2007. So whom is the company going to turn to? Of course, Wildchild! Why wouldn’t they? He is the face of this company, after all. I dare you all out there sitting at home watching this on your monitors to tell me…has there anybody in the history of the SWF been so well promoted? Someone who has sold as much merchandise? Someone whose name is more synonymous with the Smartmarks Wrestling Federation, than Wildchild? The Wildchild is the face of this company…” Jenkins trails off as he grasps his hands together. “…You know, now that I think about it…has Wildchild really done anything worthy of all of that? When was the last time you saw Wildchild in the main event without his little boyfriend at his side? When was the last time Wildchild was in the main event and won? When was the last time Wildchild took a shot at the top and came out victorious? I bet none of you at home can remember. Neither can I. So that makes me wonder…why does Wildchild get as much praise as he does?” The New Straight Edge Sensation places a finger on his lips, contemplating on an answer. “I mean, sure…he caters to the masses. The children love him. He does all of his little highflying moves and everyone goes crazy. He sells the merchandise. He probably pops a rating or two every now and then. But…why does the company back someone who has done nothing but teeter on the brink of exposure and always chokes when he is given the opportunity? When was the last time Wildchild won a main event match? Against Scott Pretzler? Ejiro Fasaki? A year or two ago?” Spike snaps his fingers together. Looking off to the side, he pounds a fist into his open palm, as if solving one of Houdini’s tricks. “I got it! I know why this company is so willing and eager to back Wildchild. I now know why Wildchild is the face of this company. It’s all so simple…” Jenkins says as he turns his attention towards the camera. “It’s because you will always be there, Wildchild. You will always be there for this company to throw into the main event when they have no one else. You will always be there to pop the crowd and sell the occasional t-shirt. To use a metaphor, you are the safe, secure best friend to this company. You will never openly speak out against the SWF and you will always have a job here, long after your retirement. You are SWF for life. You know…that is actually kind of pathetic when you think about it. Wildchild, you are really pathetic.” “So now that we have that little realization out of the way, on December 19th, when you are looking across the ring at me, you have to wonder. If you’re the safe, secure best friend…who am I? Well, that’s another easy one. I’m the new kid in town. Riding in on my chopper, leather jacket, and my overall tough attitude. I’ll be honest with you. I’m a fucking stud!” Jenkins laughs for a moment. He wipes a tear from his eye and lets out a hearty sigh before he continues on. “You can’t blame the company for putting us in this position, Wildchild. The outcome they want is the obvious one. If Wildchild scores the upset, good for him! Next month, he’ll be in the midcard doing his spotty work and we’ll always have him in our back pocket! But…if Spike Jenkins defeats the Cruiserweight champion…can you imagine it? Can you imagine the response that I will get? All of my fans will rise up as one and scream my name. Once again, Spike Jenkins will be the Cruiserweight Champion of the World! Spike Jenkins is the NEW face of the SWF! Can you imagine it, Wildchild?” Jenkins stares off into his own imagination, picturing his title win and the ovation it will receive. Finally snapping back to reality, he looks straight at the camera. “Wildchild, be forewarned. On December 19th, I am coming focused and hungry. I am coming for your championship. I am coming for your spot on the card and I am coming for your head. I am ‘Hollywood’ Spike Jenkins and I AM the New Face of the SWF!”

Toxxic 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 This is Spike's best promo ever. Hell, this is the best promo the SWF has seen for some considerable time.

Toxxic 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Well, I think it is. You've had other good ones, but this seems to have the most natural flow and the best consistent portrayal of Spike as a character.
