Skywarp! 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2007 I picked this up for my wife for Christmas, as she enjoyed the show when it aired on Discovery. I recently found out, though, that the original, BBC-branded version of the show I picked up (as it was the only DVD release I've seen of the show in stores) uses a different narrator and possibly a different score. My fault, yes, though it's irritating that the version us Yanks were given on the tube wasn't the version we were given in stores (the only place I've seen the Sigourney Weaver-narrated, Discovery-branded version is on the Discovery website--something I saw just now while researching). The consensus is that people that have seen both apparantly like the British narration better, as Sigourney supposedly sounds flat and emotionless in comparison. Since we haven't popped the shrink wrap yet, I have a question for those that have seen both: which do you prefer? Is it worth returning the BBC version and ordering the Discovery version? Are there any other jarring differences? Thanks in advance.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2007 Personally I like the BBC version much better. I could have watched the original on-air broadcast with NO narration and enjoyed it just as much as with Weaver. The BBC version has Sir David Attenborough who is far superior IMHO. I own the Blu-Ray of the BBC version and it's phenominal.
