dubq 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 I hear what you're saying and agree, which is why I enjoyed the film, but that didn't make it any less wacky. Now had it been an adaptation of the (non-canonical) comic where an adult Short Round finds the remains of Hans Solo and the Milennium Falcon... Say what you want - but a Short Round cameo would've had me marking out in my seat!

luke-o 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Scrooby - I can see what your saying dude and that's fine. But for me, the storyline was the weak link in an otherwise fine chain. The tarzan bit and the monkey's were'nt needed (the former more than the latter) but I liked the film. Until the ending, which was awful.
Aero 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Finally got to see this today. I liked it a lot, but it easily ranks below the original three movies. I didn't mind the alien stuff much, but the presence of the space craft/UFO at the end seemed a little lame. I loved all the little call backs to the other movies. Of course there was Indy calling Mutt, Junior, at the end, but the best of the movie was during the car/motorcycle chase right after Indy meets Mutt. Mutt causes the Russian car to crash into the statue of Marcus Brody, which makes Marcus' head fall into the lap of the Russians. Mutt looks to Indy laughing, but Indy just has the same serious look his father had in Last Crusade during that movie's motorcycle chase. Awesomeness. CBright7831 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2008 As I said awhile back, it's sad that Denholm Elliot is no longer around. Marcus Brody was one of the highlights of Last Crusade: Elsa: It's perfectly obvious where the pages are. He's given them to Marcus Brody. Professor Henry Jones: Marcus? You didn't drag poor Marcus along did you? He's not up to the challenge. Walter Donovan: He sticks out like a sore thumb. We'll find him. Indiana Jones: The hell you will. He's got a two day head start on you, which is more than he needs. Brody's got friends in every town and village from here to the Sudan, he speaks a dozen languages, knows every local custom, he'll blend in, disappear, you'll never see him again. With any luck, he's got the grail already. [Cut to middle of fair in the Middle East, Marcus Brody wearing bright suit and white hat, sticking out like sore thumb] Marcus Brody: Uhhh, does anyone here speak English? [man offers Brody some water] Marcus Brody: No thank you, fish make love in it.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Just saw it earlier tonight. I think I liked 70 - 80 % of it. Not as good as I hoped it would be, but still an enjoyable popcorn flick despite being the definitive worst Indiana Jones film. I guess it's easier to make a 'What I didn't like' list: -the alien and ufo-related stuff (and mostly the ending after they found the 13 crystal skeletons). It felt more like a National Treasure movie plot; -surviving an atomic bomb blast. Okay, it looked cool, but way over the top and irrelevant. Not really fitting unless you're a superhero which last time I checked Indiana Jones is not; -No really interesting enemies. Like someone said before; Cate Blanchett had a nice villain role, but she felt more like a henchman than the person in charge; -No 'real gory end to enemy' scenes, when compared to the previous movies. I was kinda expecting that. -Minor things like babysitting that Ox-character, the 3 times down the waterfall thing, ants carrying the Russian soldier's body INTO the anthill WTF? The rest of the movie I found awesome though. The soundtrack was okay, and I liked hearing some music from both Raiders and Crusade again. Yet not much rememberable tunes otherwise. It was a nice touch to see both a picture of Henry Sr. (although I wish Sean Connery had done the film. A quick cameo for the wedding at the end would've been perfect) and Marcus Brody (along with his statue later on and how both Mutt and Indy reacted differently on what happened to it). Also a glimpse of the ark during the warehouse scene was a nice feature. I personally liked the reunion between Marion and Indy. It was a very nicely portrayed moment along with some of the quarreling that followed later on. For example when Indy was surprised that Mutt was Marion's son 'you have a son? she's your mother?' and of course the part when Marion told Indy that Mutt was his son and how that continued in the truck. The action scenes and the scenery/surroundings were great and most of the cast did a good job. Props for Ford that he can still play a convincing Indy character even though he's in his sixties. I was expecting a temple of Doom moment when Indy said 'don't touch anything' when he and Mutt where just about to find what they were looking for. Too bad lol. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 People do remember Jones is based on serial B movies and isn't really supposed to be realistic right?
godthedog 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 it really says a lot for the movie that most of the positive comments are based on things that reminded them of the other movies.
