There are spots where it sounds exactly like My Aim is True. Not to get too off-topic before actually saying anything about the album that I started a thread about, but it gives you an idea of how important The Attractions were to Elvis Costello's subsequent records.

Anyway, this is a great record that was unfortunately out of print for a long time. "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass," "So It Goes," "Marie Provost," and "Nutted by Reality" are highlights.

I can't find anyone online mentioning the more-than-titular similarity between Lowe's "I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass" and David Bowie's "Breaking Glass," but I may not have been looking hard enough. Lowe released an ep called Bowi in response to Bowie's Low lp, didn't he?

Yeah, and Lowe mocked the pose from the cover of "Heroes" years before that other prick that did it this decade.

EDIT: Here it is. I stand corrected, actually...that isn't anything like the cover of "Heroes"

I've seen Cex live! He was bad, but he doesn't warrant a mention in that "Worst Shows" thread I've got going.

EDIT: Since Kinetic edited his post, I'll post the album cover by Cex—the "prick" he was referring to—here:

Cex was one of the worst things the indie community was taking seriously four or five years ago. I'd say I'm glad no one pays attention to him anymore, but so much other shit has taken his place. It makes no difference.
