CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 Well, this is certainly one of the most anticlimactic Masters finishes I've seen in nearly 25 years of watching.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2008 If Immelman blows this that will be the greatest choke of all time.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 I knew a 69 would've put Tiger on top. That would've gotten him into a playoff. And he easily left three shots out on the course.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 I didn't think it was that good. I'm already tired of not seeing any big runs up the leaderboard anymore. All you can do now is wait for someone to make a huge mistake or two. 2004 seems like ages ago.

That's a lofty standard to compare it to; I equate Mickelson's breakthrough to the BoSox or Benoit's wins of that year as well. As far as excitement, I'd say only 86 was better. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 I was watching the 30th anniversary broadcast of Gary Player's win in 1978 yesterday. There were a ton of guys making big moves up the leaderboard that day, too. 1998 was another great one, with O'Meara holding off Couples and Duval. It's just sad that there doesn't seem to be a 65 or 66 out there to be had on Sunday anymore. Immelman shot 75 and won by 3 -- that's not the Masters I remember. It's another US Open in April. It's another US Open in April. 98 was a good one - fuck, imagine if Jack had won. I also remember Furyk and Azinger having chances to get into a playoff with their last hole as well (although it wouldn't have mattered with O'Meara birdieing the last two anyway). I get the US Open vibe a bit, but not so much this year as the last two or three. They almost made the course easier in a few places for this year, getting rid of trees and shifting tees. I mean, yeah, they did add some length, but the course didn't give me an all-around demanding impression the way it did in '06 and '07. I'll remember the high scores this year and last year due to tough conditions more than I will for the course's difficulty.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2008 Tiger had knee surgery today. No title defence at Quail Hollow, and probably no Players Championship.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 That's some Masters hangover Trevor Immelman is working on. He just made the turn in 41 in the first round of the Nelson. That's DFL so far.
