Got an email from EA today with info about winning beta keys to try Bad Company over xboxlive for a while.

The game looks pretty good, but the fact that you have to PAY to unlock some of the weapons is an absolutely terrible precedent.

 

I'll wind up purchasing the game, because I'm a FPS junkie and the prospect of almost entirely destructable environments is very appealing.

Well, that's EA for you isn't it, anyway to get money from you where other people wouldn't/don't. They were the only developer/publisher to charge gamers for PS2's online service at the time outside MMO games.
