Tom Green Live

Recommended Posts

Has anybody seen Tom Green live at www.tomgreen.com ?

I've back tracked and watched the episodes of live and also Tom Green's house tonight... and it's probably my favourite talk show. The show takes place live on his website, where he interviews celebs, and talks phone/skype calls from viewers. It then airs on The Comedy Network in Canada, and a few markets in the US. I'm not sure if all the shows air, or just certain ones. (I.E. Tom Green Live might be an internet only show, and Tom Green's house tonight the one that airs on TV. I'm not really sure how it works.)

Anyways, it's just really chill, Tom hanging out with whoever his guest is and talking to people who call in. I haven't really seen a show like it before. It's not your typical Tom Green show from the MTV days... He doesn't really act up much at all.

I think there's going to be a show on in about half an hour, so I encourage you to head over to his website and check it out, or just check out a few past episodes. Maybe it's only because I've always been a fan of his, but I really like the show.

Also, there's a live stream coming out of his living room/studio 24/7... So sometimes when you just go to his website you can randomly catch him doing some kind of act.

Well, that's it... For anyone out there who was wondering "What ever happened to that guy?"

Edit: I just figured out that the older shows are Tom Green Live, and the newer ones are Tom Green's House Tonight.

I was enjoying his show a while back, but he got way off track and kind of lost me. He started out with usually just one guest sitting in for an hour uncensored with a bunch of prank calls getting through and managed to be fairly entertaining with it. A little while back he switched to doing a show for Canadian TV where he'd have multiple guests, commercial breaks, and screened callers while also trying to add in pretaped and planned bits more like a tradition talk show and it really wasn't working. Then he just disappeared for about 2 months. I heard he's back to doing shows, but I haven't checked it out since. Hopefully it's closer to the original format now.

I enjoyed both versions. In the second one you're talking about, he had two guests on every episode. The guests both stayed out and all talked together, many prank calls still got through, equipment still didn't work properly, and it was still very entertaining. I love how sketched out he gets with the callers, and how eager he is to hang up on them at the first sign of a prank. The taped bits were only played when coming back from commercial breaks. I hear he cut down his crew again though for this next season, so it will probably go back to having a more raw feel like the first episodes.

I'm not sure how it works though. Last night he was talking to a lobster, and then making beats with a giant eyeball on his head. I stopped watching after about an hour and a half... apparently he went all night until 6am or something crazy. I think they're just taping random shit for the next season right now.

I really enjoyed when he interviewed Ken Kenedy last year, but I havn't tuned in since.

Apparently he interviewed Stone Cold as well (he talks about it on other episodes), but that episode doesn't seem to be on his site. He mentioned something once about how he had to take down an episode with Kat from LA Ink, because it was getting too many viewers or something and costing him money for the bandwidth. So, I assume the same thing happened with Stone Cold.

Stone Cold was on with Vinnie Jones to promote the Condemned. They were both pretty funny and seemed to enjoy Tom's humor and the randomness of the show. I remember a caller asked him if he thought it was worth the $6 million dollars the government spent to rebuild him and he later managed to connect with a trucker via Tom's CB Radio.
