Enigma 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 The Long Island Press contacted Mick Foley to get a comment on the rumors that he might be leaving World Wrestling Entertainment. The following is Foley's response: I can't say much until my contract expires, which is September 1. But at this point, there is a good chance, through mutual agreement, that I will not be renewing my contract. Creatively, the new announcing job wasn't working out too well. This confirms the rumors that Foley wanted out of WWE after growing tired with Vince McMahon constantly yelling at him in his headset. This culminated in a heated exchange between Foley & McMahon backstage at the July 29 Smackdown/ECW tapings. Foley also publicly chastised McMahon for his handling of Joey Styles during his time on Raw, feeling he was treated the same and McMahon humiliated Styles out of wanting to do what he loved doing. It was said that McMahon had been a lot quieter in Foley's headset since Foley dressed him down, but Foley is still unhappy and clearly wants out. After Jonathan Coachman left WWE for ESPN in April, his commentary spot on Smackdown was offered to Mick Foley, who accepted the job and started at Backlash with Michael Cole. Thanks to the Draft, Foley began commentating with Jim Ross on Smackdown in July. Foley signed a new three-year contract with WWE in August 2005, turning down a deal for the same time with slightly-less money from TNA. It is believed TNA could have offered Foley more money if they were not courting Matt Hardy at the same time for an attempted Hardy Boys reunion in TNA. Hardy returned to WWE in August 2005 also. CBright7831 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 So I guess this is where Foley will take a year and half vacation and then return to plug his new book: "RIGHT HERE IN (INSERT NAME OF TOWN, STATE)"
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 Foley isn't a huge loss really. Taz was already put back in his spot on SD and anyone can show up and do ECW. Matt Striker did fine the other night.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2008 While I'm sure Vince yelling in the headset can get annoying, Foley seems like a baby for complaining about such an easy job.

CBright7831 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 Has Foley even won a feud with someone since his retirement?

CBright7831 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 Carlito, and Funk and Dreamer. You would be correct. I very vaguely remember Funk and Dreamer, but I'm not sure if I remember the Carlito feud. EDIT - Oh yeah - Taboo Tuesday.

All Foley said is that there is a good chance he may not renew his contract and that he currently feels that the annoucing job isn't going to well. So how does that confirm that Mick wanted out of his contract and is upset that Vince is constantly yelling in Foley's ear? It's still pretty much speculation. Enigma 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 Common sense is a magical thing, Scroby.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2008 I don't see how Foley saying there might be a chance he won't renew his contract and that he currently feels that the annoucing gig isn't working out so well means it's confirmed that Foley asked to get out of his contract and that he had an agrument with Vince about things. I don't get how that even makes sense. Here's what would make sense. The Long Island Press contacted Mick Foley to get a comment on the rumors that he might be leaving World Wrestling Entertainment. The following is Foley's response: I can't say much until my contract expires, which is September 1. But at this point, there is a good chance, through mutual agreement, that I will not be renewing my contract. Creatively, the new announcing job wasn't working out too well. There recently was a rumor that Foley wanted out of WWE after growing tired with Vince McMahon constantly yelling at him in his headset. It was said that McMahon had been a lot quieter in Foley's headset since Foley dressed him down, but Foley is still unhappy and clearly wants out and this just adds fuel to the fire. That makes more sense than "This confirms"
