Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 ::Yawn!:: AS doesn't like cruiserweights, what else is new.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 I'll like them when they put on a good match.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 But the kind of matches they typically excel at, you don't like, so we end up caught in that cycle. What the WWE needs to realize, is that the cruisers need to work in the high spots to be effective. I'm fine w/ them not wanting to do just spot-spot-spot-finish (which is OK if you want to use that at the beginning of a PPV to get the crowd worked-up), but let them work *some* of the spots in. Instead, all they've done, in effect, is shrink the main-eventers. Let there be the difference in styles. One of the things WCW did *right* was give guys the freedom to work their own styles, and not force 1 overall style on every worker.
Guest Ash Ketchum Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 I don't care what the WWE has to do to make it better. Here's an idea: GIVE THE DAMN CRUISERWEIGHTS TO RUSSO. Let him do some of the booking for that, but ONLY that. I know I'm crazy... but at least I can think outside the box... <----Metaphorical WWE "box" (magnified 1000x)
Guest the 1inch punch Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 Yeah but then we would get Nidia on a Pole matches, and tajiri would be told to fuck off sine American's don't like watching not-American's and so on, so forth
Guest BigTim2002 Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 Angle, if you can track down Guerrero/Rey Mysterio, Jr. from Halloween Havoc in 1997. I DARE you to say you don't like Cruiserweights after that match.
Guest Brian Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 Amr drags are used as a transition and counter. Usually the finesse, smaller guys who can't compete with the larger guys or keep up with them on the mat or just a plain transition from a methodical pace, as the cruisers who usually do those types of moves are more at hom in that type of match environment. I would actually go after some M-Pro or New Japan juniors and than some Mexico. Lucha is a lot harder to grasp as it's based on a lot of different factors; machismo, distinct rudo/technico line, and just a whole 'nother line of psychology. Way too deep for you. "Here's an idea: GIVE THE DAMN CRUISERWEIGHTS TO RUSSO. Let him do some of the booking for that, but ONLY that." That killed WCW's division. Oklahoma as champ. "Benoit and Jericho are both cruisers, and neither one relies on an abundance of flippy-floppy stuff or garbagey big bump spots." Jericho and Benoit both bump for my pleasure. They can both take two the air if necessary.
Guest muzanisa Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 It's an opinion and it's valid. AAA takes a lot of getting used to, but once you have it's great. When Worlds collide was IMO the greatest PPV that wasn't all women of all time. Owen Hart was the first guy that I ever saw using cruiserweight moves and that's what got me into it. Last nights match wasn't great sure but it would be stupid to dismiss a whole style of wrestling (which I'm presuming you like) because of one bad match. Seriously you should get a few tapes (best of the J-cup, when worlds collide, best of Liger, hell even he's hot he's spicy he's Curry Man) take some time and watch them. If you still don't like it then that's ok, but to dismiss it without giving it a fair go is like saying you don't like Angle because when you saw him he was Bob Backlund's flunky, a thirty year old virgin or an all American hero and then Austin kicked his arse. BTW that's best of Liger not best of Luger
Guest Brian Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 Yeah, I understand it takes alot of getting used to but if you understand how the basic psychology works, it isn't that hard. He just won't give it a chance.
Guest Nezbyte Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 Hey, the WWF has had good Cruiser matchs. The Great Sasuke v. TAKA, from RAW '97 kicked ass for the amount of time it was given; they flew pretty awesome.
Guest SuperTonyJaymz Posted June 24, 2002 Report Posted June 24, 2002 BTW that's best of Liger not best of Luger What you talking bout? Didn't Luger work for New Japan before he went to the NWA? I could swore he was a champion over there
