This was on 24/7 a while ago and I recorded it. As far as all the HOF guys go, even though there are a lot of them on this show the only really good match was Flair/Magnum. I guess Martel/Hansen has its moments, but it's just a crazy brawl that never really gets started.

What a weird religious promo by Kerry Von Erich.

Remember this is shortly after Mike Von Erich suffered toxic shock syndrome. Sad to see knowing how that whole saga ultimately played out.

They showed footage of a clearly brain-damaged Mike Von Erich on both the WCCW DVDs. It was clear he wasn't the same but don't tell that to Fritz. You see him there saying that his son is going to be back in the ring and be a world champion again soon. What a ****ing scumbag. Being a wrestling promoter to him was more important than being a father.

In fairness, it is not the most uncommon motivational technique. Declare the highest possible recovery scenario, makes a person believe sometimes, you know? The problem was that the Mike Von Erich debacle continued well after it was apparent he had no business in the ring.

I understand motivation but Mike Von Erich was in no shape to be in front of a camera, let alone in a ring. Fritz's only concern should have been the recovery of his son. But all Fritz cared about was the business.

That Road Warriors/Freebirds reverse decision seemed like quite a lame double turn. Considering the Road Warriors fled the promotion three months later, they should have just run the title switch then and there.

The irony of the six man tag title match is that the Russians would lose the titles when Baron Von Raschke actually substituted for Krushchev in a match.

Thing is, didn't the Freebirds leave the AWA at the same time as the LOD? If I recall Hayes on the Legends Roundtable he basically said to Gagne that the Freebirds were finishing up one night in Denver, where they cost the Warriors the tag titles to Jimmy Garvin and Steve Regal (not the same Regal we know). Losing the Road Warriors and Freebirds at once seriously hurt the AWA, in fact I don't think they ever drew any real money after that.

The old timers boards think Verne just wanted to use the jumbo tron.

Roadies lost the belts 24 hours later, w/o cameras present IIRC
