King Kamala Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 OK...I know there are some soft rockers out there and for too long, their tastes have been neglected by the Music Folder. Well that's not going to happen for any longer. This is a thread to salute those about to rock (lightly). Let's get things started with a lil Orleans. And now a song by the band with one of the finest horn sections in all of music, Chicago. Gerry Rafferty's "Right Down The Line", a true soft rocking classic.
Copper Feel Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 Would you know my name If I saw you in heaven Will it be the same If I saw you in heaven I must be strong, and carry on Cause I know I don't belong Here in heaven Would you hold my hand If I saw you in heaven Would you help me stand If I saw you in heaven I'll find my way, through night and day Cause I know I just can't stay Here in heaven Time can bring you down Time can bend your knee Time can break your heart Have you begging please Begging please (instrumental) Beyond the door There's peace I'm sure. And I know there'll be no more... Tears in heaven Would you know my name If I saw you in heaven Will it be the same If I saw you in heaven I must be strong, and carry on Cause I know I don't belong Here in heaven Cause I know I don't belong Here in heaven
Kinetic Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Hey, I was saving those Eric Clapton lyrics for the upcoming "Songs that make you think of Marney" thread.
Dandy Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Would you put Gordon Lightfoot in the Soft Rock category?
Guest Czecherbear Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Quantitatively speaking, Chicago might have more shitty output than any other band. Lots of bands have been worse, much worse, but who else has recorded more minutes of bad?
King Kamala Posted December 11, 2008 Author Report Posted December 11, 2008 You have a point there, Czech but I think "25 or 6 to 4" alone makes up for all the crap. Heck, I like their first two albums in general but yeah...after that, it gets pretty terrible.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 Quantitatively speaking, Chicago might have more shitty output than any other band. Lots of bands have been worse, much worse, but who else has recorded more minutes of bad? Are we counting solo projects of the band's members? If so: The Eagles. Fleetwood Mac.
King Kamala Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 I'd like to see Czech's thoughts on this video It's clear to me that everybody involved in this one was wacked out of their gourds on something and why is Oates singing?
King Kamala Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 Seriously, this Hall and Oates video can't go ignored.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 I think they might be high on consolation.
