Point of annoyance: The award is called "Best Major Wrestling Show" but MMA is still eligible? They need to split this for 2009...

Runner-up (aka what ACTUALLY should have won): TNA using Jill Jarrett's death in the Angle/Jarrett storyline (165)

Worst TV Show: Impact (520)

Runner-up: Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling (43) (Bullshit, and I was glad to see it actually had some "Best TV Show" votes.)

A couple of points on those awards. How is TNA a worse promotion than Elite XC when that group actually went under? Second, I fail to see how a harmless comedy gimmick like Khali doing the Kiss Cam is nearly as destructive as Samoa Joe's horrendous booking as TNA champion.

EliteXC, despite going under, built cards and presented shows that got buzz and people were interested in. Of course, they had that HUGE misstep which cost them fans, credibility, and eventually their own business, so yes, they deserved to be voted for, but TNA just continually went out of their way to alienate any potential new audience. I guess it's the same as Gabe being runner-up for Best Booker despite the fact he booked himself right out of a job.

Reading the awards, I found it highly silly that Meltzer buried some of the choices the voters made. Seemed counter productive. If you don't want certain people winning certain awards or coming close (I think it was Santino getting #2 in most charisma that got him the most) to the point where you just bury it...then why not just have a ballot with names?

Venkman explained the Elite XC/TNA thing well...The reason the Khali Kiss Cam was voted in, is because it would eat up six or so minutes per show with the same routine for week after week. And it didn't accomplish anything. Khali's not even on Smackdown much anymore, is he?

Ohhhhhhhhh! That MMA league. Why the hell does Meltzer mix Pro Wrestling and MMA in his awards? That doesn't make a lot of sense.

I actually agree with most of them this year. Aside from Khali's Kiss Cam (so it 'eats up TV time', people have gone from hating the guy to chanting for him and the Kiss Cam's been the main reason. Joe's gone from the other way from chanting to hate.) and Gabe getting votes (ROH fans, loyal to the bitter last), can't see much wrong.

Rookie Of The Year

Runner-up: Amasis (925)

Yay!
