Guest The Superstar Report post Posted June 27, 2002 OK, we have a Michael Cole thread, but he's not the only one making atrocious calls. There was once a company...and that company was named WCW. And a lot of the time, their announcing sucked. Bash at the Beach 1998, Raven gets a table from under the ring. Tony: "Raven has gotten a chair from under the ring!" Bobby: "That's a table" And from the first RAW is WCW (yeah it counts) Scott Hudson: "Up next, for the WWF Championship! Booker T vs. Buff Bagwell!"
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 27, 2002 Vinnie Ru and Madden are talking about Flair holding down Douglas. Tony: BULLSHIT!

Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted June 28, 2002 I always like how once, during a World title match between Lance Storm and Booker T, Heidi is eating a ham sandwich, so Tony Schiavone quips something to the effect of, "Oh my god, fans! This has to be first here in WCW, as Heidi is eating a ham sandwich in the middle of a World title match!" Or during the same episode Buff Bagwell is coming out with his mother, so Scott Hudson almost sarcastically quips, "Here comes Buff Bagwell...with his mother!" I loved the announcing of that episode. It was almost like they were saying "Screw it!" and trying to be funny in a strange sort of manner.

Guest Perfect Plex Report post Posted June 28, 2002 "BUT WHO'S SIDE IS HE ON????" - Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Bash at the Beach '96. You know, they totally ruined any and all suspense for the outcome of the night with all that shit about "I have a bad feeling about tonight..." "Something's in the air tonight..." "Something bad's going down tonight" and all the other "cryptic" quotes. I bet they thought they were being really clever and sneaky, too.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 28, 2002 After Chucky cut a heel promo on Rick Steiner. TONY: "What role will Chucky play at Halloween Havoc?!" And when Goldust was doing his Seven gimmick or whatever it was. TONY: "HE'S FLOATING TO THE RING!!!!!" When did Dusty go on his "Who be bad now" rampage...I remember that. Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted June 28, 2002 I had a few Mongo quotes in my Jan. 96 review. Here are a few classics from that review: Eric, "One thing you cannot imitate is our [WCW] success." ----------------- Mongo, "Alex Wright needs to get himself one of those silent dog whistles to throw Pillman off." ----------------- Mongo, "That boy's bent back like a Rold Gold pretzel. They're fat-free you know." ----------------- Eric, "You can sum up the Male's success in two words, 'dropkick', make that three words, 'flying dropkick'." ----------------- Mongo, "Heenan, just because your head is shaped like a giant hubcap, doesn't mean you're a big car around." ----------------- [After PE put Bagwell thru a table] Mongo, "Are they gonna pay for those tables?" Eric, "FORGET THE TABLES, they may have broken this kid's back." ------------------ Mongo, "That's twice Luger has hurt Sting. That guy has to wake up and smell the manure." ------------------

Guest papacita Report post Posted June 28, 2002 Dusty used to have me dying on commentary. "That's clubberin!!!! Fo fisteses on one guy!" "Tony: Paul Ordorf with the high knee... Dusty:...Ya said he hit him with his hiney?" He said so many other dumb ass things but no more can come to mind right now.
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted June 29, 2002 LMAO! But.. Heidi? Who was Heidi? Do you remember the date of that episode? Well, I checked it up on the Internet, and it was supposedly, 8-7-2000. It was a pretty fun episode. If memory serves, it was right in between the Bottle of Viagra on a Pole match and the Judy Bagwell on a Pole match. To celebrate, they made a lead pipe on a pole match with Sting/Scott Steiner. It was also Torrie Wilson Appreciation Night. The entire show was gold though in a so bad, it is good sort of way. As for Heidi, well, she was the fat chick that Mike Awesome was in love with during the "Fat Chick Thriller" stage of his career. I believe he and Storm were in a feud at the time, so he and her were out doing commentary during the match.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted June 29, 2002 When did Dusty go on his "Who be bad now" rampage...I remember that. At BATB 96 when Hogan came out. Bobby Heenan's drunken rantings from WCW PPV in 95 were classic. "Que sera sera, what ever will be will be. Jump in my pick up honey we're off to Bucksnort, Tennessee" Tony S, viertually every Nitro from when "Hollywood" Hogan first wrestled on the show till he left WCW. "THIS IS THE GREATEST NIGHT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR GREAT SPORT~!"
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted June 29, 2002 (When Luger went nWo and turned on Goldberg) Tony: What the fuck's going on? The worst part? They leave that in one of WCW's home videos. (1998 Spring Break Nitro) I don't remember the specifics, but I remember the gang getting drunker and drunker each hour. By the main event, they're just laughing at Bischoff. Hell, they mighta been high.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted June 29, 2002 I don't remember that at all. Tony really said "fuck" on tv?

"Something bad's going down tonight" and all the other "cryptic" quotes. I bet they thought they were being really clever and sneaky, too. See, I always chalked that up to Bobby Heenan not being a total fucking moron like the fat man working the booth with him that night. Make your own judgments as to whether I'm talking about Dusty or Tony. They both more or less told Heenan he was full of it until Hogan actually dropped the leg on Savage. But seriously, anybody with half of a wrestling mind knew that somebody from "WCW" would come out mid-match and turn on them. It's just that everybody thought Luger was the guy since they'd teased a Luger heel turn for seven months at that point. Back on topic: Dusty at (I think) SuperBrawl VII, when Jacqueline hit Benoit with a kick to the balls: "She kicked him in his THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING! Right in his thing, Tony!" Heenan on Nitro after something from Mongo: "What did he say, Eric?" Then there was the Nitro where Madden said something to effect that "Bruno Sammartino is rolling over in his grave" even though he's still alive.
