The One and Only NO WAY OUT thread

Recommended Posts

Guest 1000 Faces

I'll use my FIRST POST to look at tonight's card.

<b>nWo Interview:</b>  I'll admit that I marked out a little.  The somber tone felt really misplaced, though ... it's as if anyone bought that they might end up being babyfaces.

<b>Tag Team Turmoil:</b>  Boy, those years of only pushing the Dudleyz, Hardyz, and Edge & Christian sure are coming back to haunt them, huh?  This was terrible, and combined with the tag situation later in the show, I'd say it's pretty obvious that there'll probably be a rematch of the finals at 'Mania, because wasn't the world just waiting for an extension of this fascinating feud?

<b>RVD/Goldust:</b>  Guys, face it -- RVD's going nowhere until he develops some acting chops.  They tried a top-card push, he got overshadowed by the better actors (Austin, Angle, McMahon ... well, everyone, frankly), and they learned their lesson.  There's hope, and RVD's interview on Heat wasn't bad at all, but you can't expect a guy with such limited mic skills to be given the God push in this day and age.  Match wasn't bad, and I thought Dustin wasn't too awful tonight either.  Energetic, at the very least.

<b>Tazz-Spike/T&T:</b>  I like Tazz and I like Spike, but I do not like this team.  They just have zero chemistry.  The WWF must be prepping Booker for a face turn, because he's been jobbing (or on the losing end) a hell of a lot lately.  Boring match, and combined with the Turmoil result earlier, it seems clear that Tazz & Spike will be dropping the titles to Chuck & Billy.  Either that, or turn the APA and make them "schoolyard bully" types, which, frankly, I'd prefer.

<b>Edge/Regal:</b>  Glad Edge didn't get killed on that blown powerbomb.  I was surprised to see Regal win, though not in a good way.  Another boring match, and I hope that they will end this feud now, because no one cares.

<b>Rock/Undertaker:</b>  Horrible match.  I think I've figured out the problem with Rock's offense: his opponent is required to do most of the work because Rock himself is so busy flipping around like a meth case.  Working with, say, Jericho, it isn't so glaring.  Here, it is.  'Taker did try, I'll give him that much.  The overbooking was ridiculous, too.

<b>Angle/HHH:</b>  Were all the ref bumps really necessary?  I was mildly surprised by the finish, but I'd be shocked if it stuck.  Angle totally carried this ... he's on an amazing run right now.

<b>Austin/Jericho:</b>  Halfway through tonight's show, one of the guys I was watching this with said "this show has to end with the nWo standing in the ring and Austin laying face down with spray paint on his back."  We all agreed, and damned if we weren't right.  Really transparent ending.  Crowd was obviously just waiting for the nWo run-in, which is why it was so dead.  It's a shame, too, because it was a good match, though the booking was really bad at certain points -- most strikingly, why on earth should Austin be able to kick out of a Breakdown on the belt?  I mean, let's kill another finisher dead, why not?  No one except Maven has tapped to the Walls in months (check out the absolute lack of reaction when Jericho applied it tonight), and the Lionsault was killed dead as a finisher by Rocky last month.  *Sigh* ... just because he's a cowardly heel champ, don't render his entire arsenal impotent.

Overall, a lackluster show.  February shows tend to be anyway, though (occasional awesome matches aside).  Later on ...

Didn't order the ppv but from what I've read doesn't the NWO promo go over the heads of most of the fans?

these fans are from Milwaulkee. Of course it went over their heads.  They havent probably seen wrestling since the nWo was big, so they probably didnt realize it was their first time on TV

there was a reference to the nwo being marks, which nobody got, and they also alluded to scott hall having a drinking problem.  needless to say, the crowd didnt *get* either remark.

Pretty bad, Thought Rock is on very shaky ground attacking gimmicks with the Rocky sucks background. I think Steph will kill the heat of anyone she is involved with. When the Walls went on Austin I was bored waiting for the rope break and was surprised when HHH didn't kick out of the Angle slam (although a chair was involved.

Does anyone else think that finishers should only be broken kicked out of on WM main events? Has the Rock, UT, Austin, HHH ever tapped to the Walls, crossface, Anglelock first time without a Dusty finish or weapon set-up?

Maybe the Split should be the top four plus the NWO, all the McMahons' and Shane's friends on one side and RVD, Jericho, Benoit,Angle and the midcard on the other.

I've got no problem with Jericho getting a cheap win but when it gets to the stage where three of your moves (Lionsault,Walls and a breakdown on a belt no less) get a two count or less then no-one is going to believe that you'll ever beat anyone; and when they work on the lower guys then they look weak.

Also when Rock and Austin use your main move on you and you tap after they didn't, that makes you look really bad.

Is that traditional booking? First time I remember seeing it was Rock-Benoit.

With that in mind a Angle - Jericho main at WM would suit me fine as I'd actually pop for near-falls and submissions; and as a fan that is what I want to do.

The crowd didn't get Hall's "marks" comment, but I think they got Hall's "beer with the boys" comment.

This PPV absolutely sucked. It was horrble. Leave it to Vince to fnd the one and only way the f*** up bringing the NWO back. Why did they come back and play ass kissers? Everyone wanted to see them come back and tear everything up. I wanted to see a run in on every match. Granted at the end they screwed Austin, which was cool, but it was too predictable. they needed something else.

Whoever is in charge of booking the tag team department should be fired. Immediately. Tazz and Spike absolutely suck. Booker T and Test, Lance and Christian, have absolutely no chemistry. Its a pretty sad day when Billy and Chuck are your most watchable team. Give the Dudleys some time off. they are so stale they make the APA look fresh. Please execute the "hip hop hippo".

RVD vs Goldust was decent. I think RVD is the man but after seeing his promo on heat, I can see why he gets no mic time.

Regal vs Edge was unbearable. Weren't people complaining that Edge was being "held down" not long ago. Now you see why.

The only thing HHH has going for him right now is his theme music. And u know hes still getting that shot at WM. Kurt Angle is the best heel in th biz right now.

The tag division is pitiful with Tazz and the local crack head Spike Dudley as your champs.

Everyone talks all this crap about not wanting to see Hogan wrestle well fuck that I'd rather see Hogan, Flair, Bruno, Race and Verne Gagne than watch that undersized, underdeveloped, out of shape, no muscle tone having piece of garbage run around pinning real wrestlers.

He's no better than a backyard wrestler.

The tag division sucks. I'm kinda surprised that Spike & Tazz have held the titles that long. Hell, last night JR even called one of the smallest champions or something like that.

Dick Hertz, you are a moron.  You think that the angle is completely fucked up after one night.  Damn, maybe next you can give me the lotto numbers two days early.  Your foresight is mystical.

Next, you think Lance and Christian have no chemistry?  Maybe that's because they both wrestle singles all the damn time.  Let them work as a tag team a little more and then judge them.

Next, I thought RVD's promo was awesome.  "what the hell is he inhaling?", brought back memories of RVD 4:20.  So did the match itself.  RVD is fresh and exciting.  I was thinking now that HHH lost, HHH/Rock/Austin vs nWo might set up RVD/Jericho over the course of the next month, with Angle moving back down again.

I don't think that the IC match failure was Edge's fault.  Regal gives great effort, but his style clashes with everyone.  Edge gives all the effort he can, but the program, not the effort, is stale.

The effort in the PPV overall was not that great, but it's hard to get into a show when you know that nothing will be remembered except the old-timers game.

That's why they should get the I-C Title off of Regal. His style clashes with everybody. Just give it to RVD or something.

Was i watching a different PPV? I enjoyed No Way Out immensely. If some of you guys actually sat down and watched it, without being sad losers and recapping it on here in real time and trying to impress other people with your cynical attitude, you would have perhaps enjoyed it. All of the matches were solid, and I was entertained all the way through. A good main event, with HHH-Angle and Rock-Taker both being decent. Everything else was solid, and with the debut of the nWo, it was a definite thumbs up.

You WERE watching a different show. the Main was AWFUL. HHH/Angle was unbearable. Taker Rock was pretty good. Goldie/RVD was  match of the night, if only a little long. The IC match was just plain sad. Test killed the Tag match. Turmoil was OK.

Everybody has an opinion. Nobody should be called "sad losers" because they thought the show suck.

Granted, "sad losers" was a little harsh. Whether it's accurate or not is another question. I just feel people are being a little harsh on the PPV. I enjoyed it. Oh well, there's always WrestleMania. =)

When did you get it Jerry? i had it from Mid-Yesterday. And i'm not giving it up. Plus it looks awesome to see them in tune with eachother.

RVD/Edge in a ladder match might suck. Edge wrestles a "technical" ladder match and RVd wrestles a "Spotfest" ladder match

No ladder matches! Wait a little longer to bring it back. If they're going to do Edge/RVD...let RVD win. :)

I'd prefer to see Edge-Booker T for the IC title at WrestleMania. Throw RVD together with Kurt Angle, since it's highly unlikely Angle will get to the main event...at least this year. =)

I think they might go RVD/Goldust in a rematch from NWO.

I'm calling it right now! Tonight on Raw, Flair says HHH was screwed out of his WWF Title shot. So he's booking a Triple Threat match at WM with Jericho vs. Angle vs. HHH.

I got mine yesterday morning, aw well who gives a fuck.

Anyway, i think RVD Vs. Edge Ladder Match would rule the party, but thats just me

I hope not. I just want a simple one on one match for the World title. That said, they could use the triple threat concept to finally blow off the HHH-Steph-Angle triangle, although I have a horrible feeling Steph will be put with Y2J. However, there could be a HHH-Angle rematch tonight, with Flair as the referee instead of Steph. I'd probably go with that...

If the point was to blow off HHH-Angle-Steph love Triangle, Steph will go with Jericho

WWF4 life and alexcc79 can both suck me off. Thats was my opinion. If u dont like it u can both go choke on a dick. I though the PPV was boring. End of story. The NWO and RVD were the only things that made it watchable.
