The Canadian Mafia

Only problem is it means a step down for Jericho, which SD really doesn't need.

Instead of Mark Henry and Rikishi feeling the brunt of the Mafia after Storm's anti-America promo last week, it should have been someone important: Rock, HHH, or Hogan. If Team Canada was allowed to beat down a main eventer, then they'd be instantly over enough to have Jericho or Benoit lead. And with HHH injured, wouldn't he have been the perfect person for them to beat down?

And it's not like the WWE is hesitant to push mid-carders up to main eventers nowadays. If they're pushing John Cena and Brock Lesnar, they can push Christian and the rest of the Mafia.

As I said earlier, that's what hurt the Invasion out of the gate: The only people from the WWF who gave a fuck about the Alliance at first were Faarooq, Bradshaw, K-Kwik, and a bunch of jobbers.

Sure HHH would have been perfect, but then he would have had his girlfriend book him returning to completely murder all of them, including 1/2 the people backstage in the smackdown locker room.

Lance Storm is the leader. They have been pushing him and he's getting over. This stable angle is one they're doing right. They've been kind of marking the friendship of Jericho/Storm/Test/Christian down for about six months now and it seems to be that it was a smart idea; people are really buying them as a group. The group is obviously meant to give the midcard something to do and have a storyline running as opposed to random feuds. Lance is getting over as a leader type, and to stick Jericho in the spot of leader is very counter-productive to getting the other three over. They'd go from being what they are now (a group) to being lackies. Benoit wouldn't be so much trouble but he would still overshadow them.

What I think they're doing is going to have Jericho come to them for help against the whole Holly/Venis/Hogan/Edge group (maybe minus Holly). I think they could probably pull it off well enough and get everyone over.

Arn Anderson was a career lackey, and he got over pretty well. And so was HHH (to HBK) for quite a while.
