Wrestlers who are NOT future main eventers

Recommended Posts

Guest TheSmarkzone

Here is my list of guys who are NOT future main eventers, despite J.R.'s Ross Report hype:

- Rev. D-Von (DUD)ley

- Albert

- Maven

- Kanyon

Other guys that will never reach the WWE main event level because they lack something (size, charisma, that "intangible"):

- Spike Dudley

- Scotty 2 Hotty

- Jeff Hardy

- Hardcore Holly

- Crash

- Jamie Noble

- The Hurricane

- Tajiri: This would be really, really hard because of his lack of size, but I think that they could possibly make him a main eventer for short periods of time if they pushed him as a lethal assassin (i.e. The Great Muta).

Here are some underrated guys who I think COULD be future main eventers if pushed and booked correctly:

- Billy Kidman: He could be the next HBK...the chick magnet that can have mind-blowing matches.

- Test: I've said it before, and I'll say it again...Test is the best big man in the business. All he needs is a consistent push as a monster.

- Bubba Ray Dudley: I think that he could be the next Mick Foley...a big man who loves the hardcore style and isn't afraid to take crazy bumps. He's also got loads of charisma.

- Kane: He seems to be on the verge of breaking out. Like Test, all he needs is a consistent push. He's been a main eventer before, he can get back there again.

- Bradshaw: Two words: HEEL RUN.

- Rev. D-Von (DUD)ley- I agree, solid midcarder

- Albert- Look up above

- Maven- Not too sure, he could be a star, he still has time

- Kanyon- Has all the qualities to make it as a big star.

- Spike Dudley- Too small, no redeeming qualities besides his bumping abilitie.

- Scotty 2 Hotty- Would be if he didn't have to retire

- Jeff Hardy-Could and should be.

- Hardcore Holly-Too old, wont be.

- Crash- Jobber, Jobber, Jobber

- Jamie Noble- Could be a big star with the right push

- The Hurricane- Out of the others, has the most likelyhood of making it.

- Billy Kidman: Has little to no charisma, and nothing really stands out now that everyone does a SSP

- Test:Could be, but his past pushes have been fucked up too much that the fans don't care about him

- Bubba Ray Dudley: I disagree about charisma. Midcarder 4 Life.

- Bradshaw: poor charisma, poor wrestling abilities, too stiff= failed Hoss

Test and Kane have both been given monster pushes and failed at every turn. If they haven't gotten over with what's been given to them so far, they aren't going to get over with another overpush. Neither is anywhere close to being in the top 50 of big men, by the way. Bradshaw was a lost cause from the beginning. His prime was five years ago. Bubba is a comedy wrestler at this point with no charisma beyond that. If he's the next Mick Foley, Scotty is the next Dynamite Kid. There's just no comparison there.

Kidman hasn't done anything "mindblowing" in the WWE and he can't main event due to lack of size and charisma. He's got a good look and can get over via his wrestling style, but that's it. His interviews are bla, and he lacks credibility outside of the Cruiserweight division.

The fact that you followed all this up with saying Kanyon won't ever be a main event guy sums this one up pretty well.

I'm hoping for Kanyon and Helms to go to the top.

Maybe add in Nova, and those three with the moves they do.. It could be a very nice spot fest.

I can't see kidman main eventing, but maybe i've been conditioned to only like 'hosses' over the years. Val effing venis will NOT main event. jesus. All those guys, him, hardcore holly, test, none are actively bad, just not actively good. No chance.

I don't think spot guys should main event. look at austin, rock, hhh 2 years ago, angle, booker etc. Main eventers need a consistent moveset that fits together and after that it comes down to the basics of chain wrestling and charisma. spot guys like SATURN~!, kanyon and nova are better for tag matches and lower card crowd jacking up stuff.

I agree with all of your non-main eventers except for Kanyon. He has all the tools and could make it if given the right push. He would never be a perennial main eventer like Taker, Austin, HHH, etc. but I could see him reaching the same level as, for example, where Jericho is now.

As for your main eventer choices, I commend you for sticking your neck out with some picks, some of which are sure to be unpopular. :) I'll try to comment on them fairly:

Kidman - difference between he and HBK is that Kidman doesn't have 1/100th of the mic skills that HBK did. Also, Kidman needs to PUT SOME CLOTHES ON.

Test - He moves very well for his size. His ring work is decent enough. But he has gotten a lot of pushes as a 'monster' and it hasn't worked. It's not enough to just be a monster in today's WWE, you have to have some kind of personality.

Bubba Ray - MAYBE could make it, but only as a heel if they let the true Buh Buh Ray character come out. Huge longshot. Again, with Foley he had the advantage of not only the bumps but tremendous charisma in his interviews.

Kane - The most likely of the choices. The fans would be willing to buy Kane as a main event threat. Whoever said in this thread that Kane has never gotten over with what has been given him couldn't be more wrong. He has been VERY over. The trouble with Kane is that his character hasn't changed a bit in years, other than turning heel to face about 700 times which has also hurt him. They'd have to get creative with him to make him a main eventer.

Bradshaw - I'm just scratching my head at this one. Bradshaw has nothing to offer. The APA gimmick was a godsend for him, but even then they had no chance of being above midcard.

Actually, Mike Awesome is the best big man in WWE, IMO. And does Test really need another push toward Main Event status?

Of all of the people you have listed, I think Billy Kidman (in a couple of years) could be a breakout Main Eventer. He's got great athletic ability, and is a good worker (one of the best). All Bill needs to do is create a new gimmick for himself and use the SSP a lot more often(he needs charisma too).....

Test doesn't have the charisma, presence, mic skills or wrestling ability to be a main eventer. Neither does Albert, Bradshaw or any of the other people J.R would call a "Hoss"

None of the little guys like Kidman/Noble will get there simply because of size

I still say Kidman could be huge if pushed right.Young, good looking, athletic guy who is in consistantly good to great matches.I honestly see him as a breakout guy.Gets a slow, steady push for a while..some secondary titles and then possible main events. He would probably have to bulk up some in order to get this push but if Vince ever takes the chance on the guy, watch out.

Test gets a bad rap on this board in general. Some of it probably justified;some I think not.I still he think he has some potential. He moves well for a big man and I think he has an understated humor in the backstage segments.Unexceptional in a lot of ways but not completely inept.

I love the Hurricane gimmick.Maybe they should have put Kane with him after that "Citizen Kane" promo.....if nothing else,it might have Kane some more depth to his character. And he would have had the cool red cape.

I like Kanyon but it seems like something is missing for him to be a ME guy.Maybe it's just my perception of him.

Bubba I could see maybe but wouldn't expect

Jeff Hardy could be a top tier guy if he survives intact.

Based on in-ring,Tajiri should be but unless they can add some height and some more English language to him,he won't.

Bradshaw as a vicious, clothesline -everyone- out-of- their -ass heel might be the only way

Val Venis WILL main event, I swear by it. He just has the look and the skills. New gimmick, a solid push, and bam, he's in there.

Test got half-assed pushes, alot of them, which really lacked in direction, which for anybody, would make fans lose interest and fast. He can get over, as can near anyone if they stick to a direction and dedicate some time to it. Half assing anything gets a wrestler nowhere but hopelessness in the eyes of fans.

Please give up on the Bradshaw push. Thw WWE has.

Maven could be something one day, but it's too early to tell.

Bubba-I'm not so sure about him either. I just don't buy him as a threat to the champion.

Test-doesn't really seem interested in wrestling and oftens just seems to be going through the motions.

Kanyon however, could have a future, if they let him.

I think Chris Harvard could be on to something, at least a mid carder for life, but again I think it's too early to tell with him.

I really don't think Val has a chance in hell either, unless hell freezes over.

When it all comes down to it, the ONLY way any of the undercard guys are getting pushed these days is if they manage to find a break-out gimick that takes them to the midcard. Once they're solidified there, if the fans buy them, they'll be brought up as cannon fodder for the guys the company really wants to push. The only guy with the charisma, consistancy, and style that could also bump around for bigger guys is Kanyon, and that's the reason he's the only one who will be pushed. As far as main events go, no one else mentioned in this thread has a chance. Either they're too small or are hold-overs from 1998 who no one cares about anymore.

I could give two shits about everyone else mentioned in the thread, as far as their chances at main eventing.

For the love all things holly, leaching off of Undertaker does not count as getting over. Anytime he has been pushed as a serious main eventer, be it face or heel, the fans turn completely apathetic. I love how people can just expect to re-write history if it's been more than a year and expect no one to notice. The initial push against Taker failed. Whether or not that was Kane's fault, it happened, and he's never really recovered. They tried to push him as a threat to Austin, but again, no one cared. Once they pulled the desperation pairing with Taker, it was all over for him, because he was simply a clone. No personality to differentiate himself meant no chance of getting over. He's been stuck in the main a few times since then, none of which have worked. The most over he's ever been was when he and Taker were the ultra-dominant tag team and again, that was largely because people like Limp Bizkit and big guys who toss people around. Kane has never been over.

Albert is actually a better wrestler than Test. He just doesn't have the look that Test does.

Out of the list, the only one I can see main eventing for any lengthy period is Kanyon. Kane was a main eventer for awhile, but he still hasn't recovered from his X-Pac feud. That job at No Way Out 2000 killed his career. Kane had his shot.

Where is Lance Storm on that list? Barring injury, he is practically assured of being a future star.

I disagree with everybody who says Kane can't get over. He's had more than a few semi-successful runs, all of which were killed due to poor booking, from his alliances with Taker to jobbing him out to guys like X-Pac and Albert (say what you will about X-Pac, the Albert job KILLED his heat). And despite all the bad booking he's been dealt, he still managed to pick up momentum with his little "Kanenite" schtick before the injury. I haven't seen too many people booked as badly as Kane's been be so consistently over. With the right push, and if they keep him away from those damn alliances with Taker, I could see him as a main eventer down the line.

Did you previously post somewhere else with a similar name? I think I remember someone from a forum that I used to go to that I don't remember the name of that had a similar name and always pushed for Val Venis.

I think they could get Kane over too. His last work before he was injured and h is appearance on the Weakest Link (say with me guys) show that he can be funny and isn't too bad a performer. Give him more mic time and he might do it.

I think they should bring him back without the mask, or at least a modified one that doesn't entirely hide his face, like Mankind's. They can say that they developed some miraculous plastic surgery technique or some shit like that.

I also think Hurricane could make it to the top, once free of that superhero gimmick. It was kind of silly, but he made it not totally suck, which speaks a lot of his abilities. Could you imagine if they'd given that gimmick to someone with zero personality, like Bradshaw?

as long as Kanyon talks for himself, they won't take him seriously due to Lita making fun of his lisp. Which is why they have Raven be his manager once he retires (which unfortunatley won't be too far from now :( )

He SHOULD main event, that's for sure. Right now all they have to do to get him over is change his name back to Val Venis feud him with Jericho, get him over then put him against Angle and have a couple **** matches then he's over. Val is one of the top ten, if not top five workers in the WWE today as far as sheer workrate is concerened. He TEARS IT UP every time he goes out to the ring and all he needs is a credible seller to put on an AWESOME match. If I was the WWE, I would have pushed him instead of Edge... He's got much more skill in ring though his voice is kind of irritating. Not like he's a prettyboy, but his look is impressive and he could be pushed as either a nitty-gritty face or a vicious heel (Benoit-style).

Venis fucking rules.
