Guest DiabloIIFreak1010 Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Alright. To anyone who has a PS2 or Playstation, I'm getting one for my birthday which is on July 4th. Go me. Now. I've been on Amazon.com looking for games, and I've decided that I would get these games, and feel free to make suggestions or critize: - Final Fantasy 8-10 - Star Wars Jedi Starfighter - Legion: Legend Of xcalibur - Metal Gear Solid 2 - Way Of the Samuri - Smackdown! Just Bring It - Tekken 4 - Harvest Mon: Save The Homeland - Any version of Dance Dance Revolution if it's out for PS or PS2
Guest Insane Clown Dan Report post Posted July 2, 2002 OK, you should buy : - Eternal Darkness - Legend of Zelda GC Ha... I seriously don't know what a PS2 is.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted July 2, 2002 - Final Fantasy 8-10 ---> Eight, in my opinion, is the biggest pile of shit to ever be burned on a CD. Nine and Ten are good buys, though. - Star Wars Jedi Starfighter ---> Very fun, but also kinda short. - Legion: Legend Of xcalibur ---> Never played it. - Metal Gear Solid 2 ---> I thought it was pretty average, but everyone else worships it, so... - Way Of the Samuri ---> Never played it. - Smackdown! Just Bring It ---> From what I've heard, I would wait til the next Installment. - Tekken 4 ---> Not into 3d Fighters, so no opinion. - Harvest Mon: Save The Homeland ---> ??? - Any version of Dance Dance Revolution if it's out for PS or PS2 ---> Maaaaybe. My personal recommendations would be: Silent Hill 2 if you don't mind getting the shit scared out of you. Combat is awkward and frequently pointless, but the story and puzzles and atmosphere and acting and sound and everything else comes together perfectly, not to mention five very different endings. And the first game is not a prerequisite for this one. Grand Theft Auto 3, because it is God. If you like 2D fighters, Marvel vs Capcom for Playstation1 is pretty darn good. Is MvC2 out for PS2? Jak and Daxter is hella cool, but also kinda short, like Jedi Starfighter.
Guest BigTim2002 Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Final Fantasy 8-10 Eight, oh HELL no. Nine and Ten, OH HELL YEAH. - Star Wars Jedi Starfighter Yessum. - Legion: Legend Of xcalibur This was pretty cool, actually. - Metal Gear Solid 2 Yessum. - Way Of the Samuri Eh, I'm not so sure about that one. - Smackdown! Just Bring It Wait for 4. - Tekken 4 Hell yes. - Harvest Mon: Save The Homeland OH MY GOD. Forget DDR. This game is the shit. - Any version of Dance Dance Revolution if it's out for PS or PS2 Um...DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, Grand Theft Auto 3, Jak and Daxter, Medal of Honor, and then get FFVII, because if you don't, you suck and don't even need to have the honor of getting a PS2. And if you like fighers Capcom vs. SNK 2 is about as good as you'll get for 2D. Tony Hawk 3 is good, but 4 is just around the corner, so that would suit ya well too. DVDs: Get like ALL the 2001 PPVs up to InVasion. Then get SS 2001. Also, American Pie 2 and any Kevin Smith movie is a good buy, along with "How High" which is my guilty pleasure. Guest Renegade Report post Posted July 2, 2002 - Final Fantasy 8-10 Well if you like the FF games (why didnt square release more Chrono games) yeah, i myself would only buy one though. - Star Wars Jedi Starfighter Rent it, dont buy it - Legion: Legend Of xcalibur OK...havent played it enough though - Metal Gear Solid 2 If you like the first then yes buy it, considering i didnt like the first, i wasnt a big fan of this - Way Of the Samuri ? - Smackdown! Just Bring It People say wait for SD4, but if you can find a cheap enough 2nd hand copy (i picked one up for ten bucks) its a very good game, yonks better than SD2 in every possible way. - Tekken 4 Well i would say buy Virtua Fighter 4 instead, but with the exception of VF4 its the best fighting game ever! - Harvest Mon: Save The Homeland Havent played it, but HM games are usually top notch - Any version of Dance Dance Revolution if it's out for PS or PS2 Well you need the mats to get any real exitement for it, then another (unless you have no friends) so its costly. I know its not on your list but buy Devil May Cry, it kicks ass.
Guest Thoth Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Let Thoth help you make the right decisions! - Final Fantasy 8-10 Eight sucks. Nine sucks. Ten is pretty good. - Star Wars Jedi Starfighter No decision either way... but save your money. Rent. - Legion: Legend Of xcalibur No recommendation. Rent. - Metal Gear Solid 2 I say wait for MGS2: Substance, when that comes out next year. It's an XBox exclusive until 2003, at which time it comes out for PS2. - Way Of the Samurai NO! - Smackdown! Just Bring It If you want a wrestling game, wait for Fire Pro Wrestling to come out domestically on PS2 very soon. Smackdown doesn't tickle my fancy. - Tekken 4 Good choice. I've played the hell out of the import version, and it's awesome. US version comes out in August. - Harvest Moon: Save The Homeland Harvest Moon freaks me out, but it's a good game. - Any version of Dance Dance Revolution if it's out for PS or PS2 Get Konamix and wait for DDR MAX for PS2, which comes out in November. It will be the greatest home version of DDR in history. Make sure to get RedOctane mats from RedOctane. Now, here's some other games to look for. Wait for Tony Hawk 4. Gran Turismo 3 is a great buy at $19.99. Avoid Marvel vs Capcom 1. The game is so fucking broken it's not even funny. Double War Machines, Red Venom, etc. Wolverine infinite in the corner is WAYYYY to easy to do. Marvel vs Capcom 2 comes out for PS2 and XBox soon. Capcom VS SNK 2 is good... But the best 2D fighter on PS2 is Guilty Gear X. Goddamn, that is so much fun.
Guest BigTim2002 Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Thoth you grimey bastard! When is Fire Pro coming out domestically?
Guest Suicide King Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Hmm... well, I liked FF8.
Guest BigTim2002 Report post Posted July 2, 2002 King, why? Are you a lovey dovey at heart? I will say this...the ending rocks bells.
Guest Suicide King Report post Posted July 2, 2002 I will assign the Cock as the special guest referee in all of your matches from this day hence for your insolence, T-Bone.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Hmm... well, I liked FF8. You would! Crowd: Ooooooooh! Anywho, Devil May Cry is definitely worth a rental, maybe a purchase. Tony 3 gets old quick. Marvel vs Capcom 1 is good enough, I think, until til MvC2 comes out. I still have fun with it, but I'm also still pissed that crossover battles were butchered. When is SD!4 coming out? Anyone?
Guest BigTim2002 Report post Posted July 2, 2002 What insolence? In my matches, when you and Mac argue, you ALWAYS WIN! Edit: SD!4 is slated for November
Guest Thoth Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Marvel vs Capcom 1 sucks. Remember, I know more about fighting games than you know about your own family. MvC 1 is not played competitively at all. Because it sucks. And there is so little to do or learn. Combos are very basic. This is a pre-emptive response to Raynor: Any game is "fun" and/or "hard" played against the computer or against your friends. Boo-yah.
Guest Tyler McClelland Report post Posted July 2, 2002 From my limited PS2 experience... FFX = Rules, but the ending is sad. MGS2 = Rules, good ending. GTA3 = Rules Others... eh, I dunno.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted July 2, 2002 Any game is "fun" and/or "hard" played against the computer or against your friends. Boo-yah. Tell that to Mortal Kombat's 1 and 2.

Guest SupaTaft Report post Posted July 5, 2002 I would recomend Rune: Viking Warlord. It is seriously the best game I have ever played. Nobody has heard of it but if you like senseless multiplayer killing, then it rules. It also has a sweet storyline and is quite challenging.
