Guest bob_barron Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 For all the Canadians here- Paul Heyman is on Off the Record right now on TSN
Guest Downhome Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Let us know what is said please. :D
Guest bob_barron Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Heyman talked about Austin. He said Austin didn't want to job to Brock and it had brewing for a long time. Heyman said Austin will be back if its right for business.
Guest Downhome Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Heyman talked about Austin. He said Austin didn't want to job to Brock and it had brewing for a long time. Heyman said Austin will be back if its right for business. In other words, nothing new eh?
Guest bob_barron Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Heyman says according to Vince Austin left the most insulting way and that wrestling fans want Austin. He says Rock is not one of theirs and said Rock would make a great heel with his Hollywood thing. He doesnt think Rock can come back as a facel
Guest bob_barron Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Heyman referred to himself as the lead writer of Smackdown and that Vince is the head writer. They went to break
Guest Downhome Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Heyman says according to Vince Austin left the most insulting way and that wrestling fans want Austin. Agreed, but he still will come back He says Rock is not one of theirs and said Rock would make a great heel with his Hollywood thing. Agreed, it could be GREAT, and SHOULD have happened right after Summerslam. He doesnt think Rock can come back as a facel I disagree, it would be very easy for him to come back as a face, he'll almost for sure get a huge face pop. They must do something to keep the fans from doing so BEFORE he shows up again, or on the show which he re-debuts.
Guest Super Pissed Smark Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 And his eyes really lit up when he talked about having Rock come back as a heel, so I guess he'll push for that.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Heyman said Vince has the final say on everything but you can win arguments with him. Heyman says he does not push Vince to push the envelope since it's not the answer anymore. Heyman compared the WWE writing staff to the President's cabinet with Vince as president. Heyman doesn't think it's harder to push the envelope now that WWE is a publically traded company. Heyman said any investor better believe in Vince's vision. Heyman talked about writing the show. They talk to the talent and people like Patterson and Lanza and it's a constant brainstorming session. Heyman coordinates the idea that the SD! team will have and they will get them into pitches and pitch them to Vince. Heyman said Vince is the final say, supreme court when asked if HHH and Stephanie have much influence over RAW. Heyman doesn't know how much influence HHH has compared to other people. He says Vince expects more from Stephanie than anyone else. Commercial break
Guest Downhome Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 And his eyes really lit up when he talked about having Rock come back as a heel, so I guess he'll push for that. Good, it's what SHOULD happen. The only question, is this... ...who will be the "babyface" which will go against this version of Rocky? It would have to be someone obviously major over, so as to not have the heel Rocky overshadow him.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Downhome- On The Rock- Heyman did say the night he came back he would get a mega gonzo face pop but then they could turn him heel
Guest Super Pissed Smark Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Boy, Paul gave Vince's ass a pretty good smooching there, and he was smart enough to dodge the Triple-H and Stephanie question.
Guest Downhome Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Downhome- On The Rock- Heyman did say the night he came back he would get a mega gonzo face pop but then they could turn him heel Thank you, but I don't get him saying that they couldn't have him stay face, at least for a while, right before he leaves again. Anyhow, I'd have him be a heel also, a LOVE the heel Rocky, it's just damn perfect.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 And we're back- Heyman said he hated Bischoff's guts and he was brutal to ECW. He said working with Bisch is fine. He didnt care when Bisch got his ass kicked in business cause the same thing was happening him. When ECW died, all the grudges died with it. Heyman said Y2J 'blew him away' and he was recommended to him by Benoit. He saw a tape of Jericho v. Dragon and knew he'd be a star. He doesn't know whether Y2J got a fair shot on top cause a lot of things were going on ie nWo, pissed off Austin Heyman said RVD hasn't become a big star because his strengths have not become apparent to WWE. Heyman said in ECW he could hide weaknesses and lead them by the hand and a guy that was good looked great. If Heyman had RVD he would accentuate his matches more then anyone else and make him look like a tough son of a bitch. Heyman said his passion comes out with the ring. Heyman didn't know who was a big dissapointment but Booker T and RVD are the most underrated. Commercial break
Guest HartFan86 Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Rock = heel is the smartest thing I've heard for a while. The fans are just ready to boo this guy...just do it when he comes back.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 I think having the Rock coming in out of nowhere would draw a monster face pop... but then have him blast the face with a chair or something and BOOM- hello, heel turn. I don't think you'd necessarily need to put him against a mega-over face either. The crowd turned pretty violently against him when he fought Lesnar, who was NOT really over at that point. Come to think of it, Lesnar is a babyface now. Have the Rock come in and screw him over... Find a way to make it happen in or around New York (those people LOVE Lesnar... see: SummerSlam, Survivor Series) and I think the Rock turn into a Hollywood prima donna heel would be a pretty successful venture.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Heyman said Hogan and Vince dont see eye to eye. Hogan is gonna be on OTR in the very near future. (Hopefully when I'll be back in Canada) Word Association- Cornette: Heyman started laughing and they've never seen eye to eye. JR: Interesting guy. JR gave him his first break as a colour man and he denied JR fired him from WCW. King: Heyman claimed he did better then him. Flair: A legend who loves the business. Bret: A tragic story. End of show
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Did Heyman insult feminists and hit the host over the head with his cell phone? MEEEEEEMMMMMMMMMMMORRRRRRRRRRRRIEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Guest converge241 Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 They were ready to boo Rock on WMX7 build up - he was clearly the fans choice to be the heel yes even before Houston
Guest CanadianChris Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Damn...completely forgot about this. I'm gonna have to tape the replay tomorrow. I cannot wait for someone to give a straight answer on the Steph/HHH question. I think we're going to have to wait for someone to get let go, though.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 I saw it. The biggest thing to come out of it was the potential Rock heel turn, which was the first time I have ever heard it coming out that someone in the company was pushing for it. He said that Bill Watts was the one that fired him from WCW.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Why is this show never on over here? TSN is related to ESPN right? Their logos look similar and everything. ...And yes, Rock needs a heel turn. More than ANYONE right now. Hell, even more than Edge, who people thought were getting boring in July.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Damn...completely forgot about this. I'm gonna have to tape the replay tomorrow. I cannot wait for someone to give a straight answer on the Steph/HHH question. I think we're going to have to wait for someone to get let go, though. I believe Heyman that he doesn't know. He is on Smackdown, far away from the mess on RAW. He did say that Lansberg should ask Vince about it.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Why is this show never on over here? TSN is related to ESPN right? Their logos look similar and everything. ESPN owns TSN.
Guest bob_barron Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 EDIT: Kahran already answered it
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Boy, Paul gave Vince's ass a pretty good smooching there, and he was smart enough to dodge the Triple-H and Stephanie question. I think he pretty much answered it. The reason our favorite guys never get anywhere isn't because HHH is abusing his relationship with Stephanie. It's likely because Vince McMahon seriously can't imagine RVD or Jericho in main events because of their size (i.e. not big men.) I swear to god, no matter what happens involving HHH and/or Steph, these guys will always be a lost cause because Vince has such a thing for huge guys.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Heyman compared the WWE writing staff to the President's cabinet with Vince as president. And Heyman as "Chief of Everything People Like"? Heyman talked about writing the show. They talk to the talent and people like Patterson and Lanza and it's a constant brainstorming session. Heyman coordinates the idea that the SD! team will have and they will get them into pitches and pitch them to Vince. Wow, Kevin Dunn must be on vacation.... Heyman said Vince is the final say, supreme court when asked if HHH and Stephanie have much influence over RAW. "I really have nothing to do with the show, so I wouldn't know....just ask Dave Scherer!!" - Paul Heyman, Super Genius
Guest dreamer420 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 I think the Rock should be booed and booed loudly upon his return. Fans of the WWE shouldn't be popping for a guy who works for a month, gets handed the title, and then drops it a month later to go and make another movie. Either the Rock should return fulltime, or hang-up his boots.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 It should be noted that Spider-Man turned down Rocky as the role of Venom because his price was too high, and started looking at Vin Diesel instead. so Rock must be asking for a LOT of money. But he's not out of the woods yet. After Helldorado, he has to go make a stupid Spy Hunter movie based on the arcade game.
