Kurt Angle, the best ever???

Recommended Posts

We all know Angle is a great wrestler. I want to know, could he be the best pro-wrestler of all time???

More specifically, if pushed right, could he be better and bigger than Hulk, Stone Cold, the Rock???

If you were in the place of Vinny Mac, could you push Kurt Angle, an Olympic Gold medalist, who has the pro skills in ring and on the mic, farther than those mentioned above???

What say ye???

Yes.

I would. Vince never will.

Well, give him 10 years and about 100 more ***** matches, and he would be the best ever.

Best ever? Right now, no way.

But, with the right push, the right matches, and some luck, we might be saying yes in about 8-10 years.

Fook, you don't think you could do it in less time? Given all the resources and modern technology, say 5 years?

Ask me in ten years, then I can give you an answer. He isn't right now of all time, but he could end up claiming that title, only time will tell. Let's see him work with a wider variety of guys through the years in a wider variety of situations and the such, and different matches, we'll see.

Wrestling-wise he could be very great in a few years.

Character-wise, not yet.

If Angle stays in the WWE at this rate for the next...8-10 years, then he'll be the greatest ever.

Don't think so.

::: thinks for a second :::

Not a chance. If he had started out sooner, then there's a possibility because he would have learned the little things that he hasn't grasped at this point in time.

There's no way you can possibly do that given how hard all the ones you mentioned above were pushed. That being said, I would push Kurt hard, but he's not as dynamic a character as Rock, Austin, or Hogan are/were and force-feeding the crowd to think so would be horrendously bad business.

He could achieve greatness but it's too early to tell. As for the current greatest ever? one word: WHOOOOOOOOO!

Ric Flair.

Will WWE last that long?

Oh, come on. We both know why Angle will never be anything. Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Every single time someone needs to be elevated, they demote Angle to the midcard, forcing him to build himself back up to the mains. When the fans finally accept him, they demote him to the midcard and the vicious cycle starts again

No one will ever become anything but "pesky midcarder who thinks he's a main eventer" like that.

He's going to have to be better than fourth on his own show won't he?

AS, he's in a far better position than Jericho and RVD at any rate.

I wonder if even the most generous of critics would say that there have been much more than 100 ***** matches in all of wrestling history.

I'm in a far better position than them.

I don't think the WWE can choose who they are going to make that big. Something special has to click with the fans and that hardly happens. That's why there are only 3 names up there right now. They all got huge pushes but that wasn't the reason. Stone Cold's push actually seemed to die down some around Canadian Stampede.

The WWF is trying to make Brock into the next mega-mega-mega star, and while he is over (after beating everyone on the roster he should be) he's not close to Hogan or Austin levels in their prime.

Second. If he is saying all around performer (which I kind of got the vibe from) Angle out ranks Benoit and Rey. I'd rather listen to Benoit talk than Rey.

Screw it, i still stand by the fact Eddie Guerrero surpasses Kurt, if not at least matches, in every way.

Ain't no way he's the best ever yet, however im with all the other Illusion-ites that have stated they'll need time to find the answer.

And i doubt Angle will ever be a Rock, Austin or Hogan. He's great, yeah, but he isn't an icon of the wrestling industry like those big names are, and i just have the feeling he never will be.

Benoit and Guerrero both surpass Angle on SmackDown, and that's with the injuries and abuse they've taken over the years. Angle still looks lost at times, his pacing is flawed, and I'm still quite distracted by his use of psychology...or lack there of sometimes.

Will he be the best ever...probably not, especially if he stays with WWE. Can he be the best in North America...perhaps, it all depends on who he's competing against.

Quite the exaggeration.

No.

Unless he learns something about psychology he'll never break out. And seeing as he's been put against the best the WWE has to offer in that department (Austin, Benoit, Eddy, Chavo) and hasn't figured it out yet, I find it pretty unlikely he ever will. At this point, I would say in a relativly short period Edge will surpass him because he seems to be slowly gaining an understanding of how to sell properly.

Definately.

Benoit and Guerrero both surpass Angle on SmackDown,

Not as professional wrestlers in the year 2003 and all that entails. Only Eddy has done that. Benoit would be behind Eddy, Kurt and Chavo there.

Angle can never be called best of all time, not even best N.A wrestler of all time because he hasn't shown the diversity of styles and body of work that guys like Benoit, Flair, Guerrero, Thesz etc... have. Stick Angle in Japan or Mexico for the next 10 years, then we can talk about him being G.O.A.T

Best WWE wrestler of all time? Give him time, but he's got a pretty good shot at it.

this seems very unlikely, but if vince would get some brains & grow a pair and just put the company in angle's hands, he could be the guy to carry the fed through this big dark period until the next austin or rock comes along. if he was the next bret hart, i'd be perfectly happy with that, as i'm sure millions of other fans would be.

So you're basing this on intangibles other than workrate? I was under the impression this was regarding the matches he was having. Even if that's the case, Benoit has arguably more ring presence than Angle, certainly more so than Chavo. Chavo needs the love too, but he's way behind Benoit et al.

All arounder. You can be the greatest wrestler on the planet, but if you suck on the mic, or have no charisma, you really don't deserve that title. Pro wrestling is more than just wrestling now.

No one is going to become the bigest star in the company on workrate alone.
