Friday Night Smackdown Is next week! With PPV like action!

NOTE! Starting In Two Weeks, We will add TNA to the TV reviews. So it Will be, Monday Night Raw, Friday Night Smackdown, NWA-TNA Impact. That would mean updates would come On Tuesday (for TNA), Wed (Raw), Sunday(Smackdown).

Matches:

Heidenreich (WWE Tag Team Champion--w/Road Warrior Animal) vs. Joey Mercury (w/Melina and Nitro)

* star.

WWE United States Title: Orlando Jordan vs. Chris Benoit

When is Orlando Going to OVW? Maybe Heyman can save him...

Christy Hemme vs. Stacy Keibler

No Match...

Booker T (w/Sharmell) vs. Mr. Ken Kennedy

This was...well a good ** match. I didnt like how the used the distraction.

Simon Dean vs. Batista (World Heavyweight Champion)

Funny DUD. But Funny never the less.

Paul Burchill and William Regal vs. Scotty 2 Hotty and Funaki

This was an OK match. ** stars.

Randy Orton (w/Bob Orton Jr.) vs. Rey Misterio Jr.

There setting Eddy Guerrero to face Batista? UM NO. *** stars for this match, and Orton should face Batista.

This is somewhat a toss up. But I give the edge to Smackdown.

ALL READY BAD TIMING FOR SMACKDOWNS PREMERE!

The 9/9 Smackdown show is scheduled to air from 9-10 p.m. due to the concert planned at 8 p.m. to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina. It should be noted that benefit concerts notoriously go overtime, and many UPN stations have 10 p.m. newscasts.

The fund raising show for Hurricane Katrina victims has been announced for all six networks on 9/9, the same date as the planned debut of Friday Smackdown. It will be a one hour commercial free concert at 8 p.m. At this point we're awaiting word on what this will mean for the debut of Smackdown. It is possible it could air in a one hour format that night. 9-11 p.m. would be difficult because so many UPN affiliates run 10 p.m. newscasts.

Over at TNA:

There was a lot of disappointment internally about Mick Foley turning down TNA's offer to come in, but the company was already working on other names to possibly bring in for the Spike TV debut. As noted here before, Bret Hart has been in discussions off and on for some time about working with the company in some capacity. Kevin Nash looks to be returning based on the Bound For Glory poster that has been sent to In Demand PPV. After those two, the biggest name free agents would be Sting, Bill Goldberg, and Chris Jericho.

TNA is close to finalizing a video game deal. There had been some offers in the past but Dixie Carter had balked at them, feeling they weren't the best deal for the company. Bill Banks actually wrote in his online column that they expected to announce a deal at the 9/11 PPV, but later pulled that comment as the company wasn't sure when an announcement would be made.

There is interest in Jackie Gayda once her WWE no compete has elapsed, so I would expect to see her in come October. Former WWE Women's champion Gail Kim is heading in as well.

Austin Aries will be returning at the 9/11 Unbreakable PPV as he impressed management with his match against TNA X-Division champion Christopher Daniels. The funny thing is that they had another ten minutes, that match quality would have been out of this world, as opposed to just a really good bout. One of the weaknesses TNA has right now is that the roster has such depth, there's no way to spotlight everyone in the limited time windows they have.

Also scheduled to be added to the Unbreakable PPV will be Sabu vs. Abyss.

Sonjay Dutt, Shark Boy and Simon Diamond will be traveling to India on 9/20 to promote the company. Dutt should receive a hero's welcome there. TNA will be sending a camera crew along with the wrestlers, which if they are smart, they can use to make TNA look like a huge international deal and give a major rub to Dutt.

CM Punk heads to OVW First...

TKG:Poor, poor CM Punk , he signs onto a developmental deal when Cornette was running the developmental territory and it looks like he's going to come instead into a territory run by Tommy Dreamer and Al Snow. I mean if you're going to be working for an ex-ECW guy booking I have a hard time believing anyone can learn more from Tommy Dreamer than they would learn from either Gabe or Ian. I can't think of a better representation of T-shirt wearing wrestler than Tommy Dreamer. And well it looks like they're bringing in Heyman too. Something amusing about the straight edge wrestler working for one of the biggest enablers in wrestling history. I guess not the biggest, but Fritz is dead...so he'll do.

PAS: I am not the kind of fan who chants "You sold out" to wrestlers. It's wrestling, it a carny buisness full of conmen. ****ing Kawada is dancing around with transvestities and leather queens, there is no selling out. But C.M. Punk is straight edge, his entire life is based around taking a overally self abasing morallistic stand. Ian McKye would never do a song for the Spiderman 3 soundtrack, and now Punk is going to let Stephanie script his promos, he is going to take wrestling advice from a bloated coke head like Tommy Dreamer, all for money and fame? You Sold Out.
