Guest Report post Posted April 3, 2008 Sorry for throwing in that subtitle. Anyhow, this is MLS. If you hate soccer, you hate it, and that's ok. But I don't. I'm sure others don't. And now, we have a thread for our shitty league. Ok, well, it isn't so shitty after all. See, there's this guy named David Beckham. Fans love him, and so does everyone else. The thing is, with David Beckham in MLS, there's a lot of good players from around the world that also want to come to the MLS. BUT, they're all a little long in the tooth. Not long in the tooth by what we would consider a players age to be, but in soccer, they are. In soccer, when you hit 32, you're old, and there's no way around it. But still, these older players that come to MLS are still great, and personally, I hope they keep coming. Fun to watch is what's best for the league, and if that's older players, that's what it is. This season, there's a new team. Well, there's a new team every season, but this time, the league is returning to a place from which they relocated, in this case, San Jose. They're still the Earthquakes, but they're really not. Kinda like the Cleveland Browns. Exactly like, in fact. Next year, Seattle's going to get their own team. In 2010, Philadelphia. Hopefully MLS caps the number of teams at 20, for everyone's sake. Here's ESPN's broadcast schedule, because I know you all love ESPN2 so much. ESPN2, just to clarify. Thu. I'm pretty sure I can answer. Fox Soccer Channel also televises (so do regional networks), but it's a channel few have (I have it), so why post the schedule? What's good is that every team gets on the Worldwide Leader. If you hate soccer and don't want a league in this country, well, you're fucked. Now that MLS teams are finally beginning to turn a profit, this league is going nowhere. I'm a Galaxy fan. We suck. No other way around it. Our best forward, Carlos Ruiz, is out for 4-6 weeks. So a shitty team is going to get even worse, but hey, we play the expansion Quakes tomorrow. Should be an easy victory, but in a league like this, you don't really know for sure. Broward83 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2008 Well, we've played one official game and we lost. *shrug* (We, being the Dynamo) With us getting lumped into the group of death for the SuperLiga and we tied with Saprissa tonight. With a decent amount of our players "national" players for their respective countries, I know we're going to get hit hard thru-out the season as World Cup qualifying continues to be played. Losing Ngwenya is going to hurt us and I really wouldn't be surprised if we got bounced in the playoffs.

Guest Report post Posted April 4, 2008 There are some things I've liked in the first two games, although much less in the first. I like what I saw tonight, but...I really don't like the way other teams are able to control tempo. With Beckham and Donovan, we should be doing that, not the other way around. Broward83 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2008 Is it wrong that I dislike...almost hate Donovan? Its like he's the Dirk Nowitski of the US National team. MLS games and random bullshit International game. Great player. Meaninful World Cup game? Ghost.
Guest Report post Posted April 4, 2008 No. I still hold a grudge over Germany 2006.
Broward83 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2008 Its just insane when I've got to hear about how fucking marvelous and great he is, but when it comes time to really perform and prove all the slurping the media gives him, he doesn't do a fucking thing. His ONLY... ONLY Wolrd Cup goals came back in 02. That's it. I watch him play in MLS and in the friendlies / qualifiers / misc. CONCACAF or Gold Cup match and he busts ass and doesn't hold anything back. Once the flip switches to WC play, he all of a sudden gets gun-shy or tries to do too damned much and either badly misses the open goal or doesn't pass the ball to the open man for a goal. *sigh* I hate rooting for them only to have them lose in the first round. Add to the fact that its a once ever four year thing and it gets a bit tiring.
Guest Report post Posted April 4, 2008 He might play in the Olympics this summer, too. If he plays well and we win a medal, I'll never badmouth him again.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2008 I haven't been able to get into MLS on a meaningful level. With a team moving into Philadelphia in 2010, that will certainly change. It's a couple years off, but I can't wait to check it out.
