EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2004 From X-Men 3 To Superman Bryan Singer leaves one project for the next... Bryan Singer has terminated his contract with 20th Century Fox, which would have had him doing a two-year deal with the studio. The deal would have included him directing X-Men 3. Singer has now decided to join onto the Superman project. Credit: Hollywood Reporter Damnit this sucks but, you know it was going to happen. I rather have another X-Men movie then another Superman. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2004 Too bad, since I figured it was merely going to be delayed. However, I don't actually believe that Superman is going to come out before X3 anyway... Geez, between Batman, Catwoman, and Superman, nearly every DC movie has been delayed to a ridiculous extent. However, unlike DC's recent properties (save Batman Begins), Marvel's done decent to great jobs on all theirs. While certainly there's some fear that they'll simply farm it to hack director, give him a tiny budget, and we'll see a terrible cheesefest or rehash, it seems Marvel cares more (plus they have far more control that DC does, because what DC movies are made and how they're done is almost completely up to WB). Heh--maybe they can hire Richard Donner to do X3 in an ironic twist. Heck, he was an Ex Producer on the first X-Men I heard.
Guest JMA Report post Posted August 7, 2004 At least the new Superman movie has a decent director now. I'm sure Marvel will find someone equally as good as Singer to direct X3.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 7, 2004 Singer could've worked on both, it's not like Superman is close to being in production. Maybe Singer already has X3 set up the way he wants it and will just hand it over to his assistant director.

Guest SP-1 Report post Posted August 7, 2004 Man. Stop bitching, kids. Seriously. We get Singer, who is known for respecting characters and doing it RIGHT, coming in to restore a Superman project that's been in development HELL for years now. And we have no idea who we get for X3. Given the evidence of how Marvel has handled it's movies, and given how important X3 would be, I'm not inclined to say we have a real reason to fly off the handle just yet. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2004 Considering X-MEN was in the middle of a storyline and a certain image, yes it will be messed up. Superman should have stayed dead, it had it's run and it has a damn tv series.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2004 I'm looking forward to X3 way more than I am Superman...and this thing has been in the works for half a decade or so. X3 is a sure bet.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted August 7, 2004 Considering X-MEN was in the middle of a storyline and a certain image, yes it will be messed up. Superman should have stayed dead, it had it's run and it has a damn tv series. Superman does not have a TV show currently. Smallville is a young Clark, teenage, angst-driven affair. No tights, no flights. The difference is big enough, as much as I like Smallville.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 7, 2004 X3 can keep the storyline going as long as there's scripts. As far as the look of the movie, well I personally have no problem with getting a new look. As long as they don't pull a Batman & Robin, I'm not concerned about a different look. If X3 was a WB property I'd be afraid, but I have faith X3's studio won't screw up a proven series.
The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2004 I was already pissed enough because Halle Berry dropped out. Not that I like her, but switching the actor kills it for me. I hope they just write out Storm completely.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 8, 2004 Actors changing doesn't bother me too much, espiecally when I didn't care for the performance of the leaving actor.

The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2004 Or just randomly throughout the movie Iceman: "Hey guys, I just got off the phone with Storm, and she said..." Screw that, give her a Poochie exit. I'm sure they have enough money in the budget to paste a picture of Halle Berry's face on a mannequin and pull her skywards with a crane. V.O.: "Storm died on the way back to her home..uh..cloud." Personally, I wouldn't mind the same writing team working off of the same storyline. A new director doesn't automatically mean a bad thing. Schumacher must not be allowed to taint superhero movies forever.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2004 Yeah, but this isn't DC, as was mentioned. And yes, sometimes a new director for a series isn't necessarily a bad thing. For example, Cameron and Aliens. Plus...uh...I can't think of any other.

JasonX 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2004 Or...send her off to Africa for that "Shadow King" thing or whatever the hell it was. What the hell was that thing? Was it even Africa? A second season X-Men episode that also functioned as "Lifedeath Part III" (but with the Shadow King ramrodded into the episode for no damn reason except because they needed to have the Shadow King appear in an episode) with the way that the episode is a continuation of sorts of Lifedeath II. To be fair, the best thing is to just write Storm and use Jean Grey (who is the character that they REALLY need to recast given how Famke Jansen can only play evil sexpots and was even WORSE that Berry in the two X-films)'s death as an excuse to write her out. As for Singer, I pray that he gets fucked in the ass ala Kevin Smith and goes running back to 20th Century Fox and begs for his old job back. Seriously, I want to see barbara streisand's hairdresser make Singer miserable 24-7 and for him to take every opertunity to castrate Singer until he's a creative eunich that he quits the project.... Guest Smark-Raving Mad Report post Posted August 8, 2004 I just can't believe a director would abandon his project like this. How could you invest so much in something and not see it through to the end? Did he just get fed up with Berry bitching about a bigger role and lost interest? Man, this really sucks. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted August 8, 2004 Man, are you guys reading the same news? It's SUPERMAN. THE. MAN. I like the X crew as much as the next comic book geek, but what director passes up SUPERMAN. That's probably what Singer's thinking. "Holy crap, they're offering me Big Blue here!"
