Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

The former mayor who declared Chris Benoit Day in Edmonton three years ago was stunned to hear that the hometown wrestling hero, his wife and son are dead. “It’s a terrible tragedy,” Bill Smith said tonight. “I couldn’t believe what I heard.” WWE fans around the globe were reeling in grief yesterday as news that Benoit, 40, had been found dead in his suburban Atlanta home, along with his wife and son, began filtering out. The news was broken to the world on the WWE’s website. Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department in suburban Atlanta said the three were found at their home about 2:30 p.m., but refused to release details. Pope said results of autopsies on Benoit, his wife Nancy, and seven-year-old son Daniel were expected Tuesday. Some media reports say no guns were involved. • Photo Gallery: The Canadian Crippler remembered Benoit’s wife, Nancy, managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, “Woman.” The newspaper says they met when her then-husband drew up a script that had them involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing storyline on Turner-owned World Championship Wrestling. The WWE cancelled its live “Raw” wrestling card Monday night in Corpus Christi, Texas. Canadian television network The Score aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled telecast. The tribute began with WWE chairman Vince McMahon standing in the middle of an empty ring, eyes welling up with tears and voice cracking as he spoke. “We at the WWE can only offer our condolences to the extended family of Chris Benoit,” said McMahon. “The only other thing we can do at this moment is pay tribute to Chris Benoit.” Benoit was born in Montreal, but grew up in Edmonton where he graduated from Archbishop O’Leary Catholic high school in 1985. Vicki O’Neill, who taught Benoit and considered him a friend, remembered him as a very “kind and supportive student.” “He was well liked at school. He treated people with respect and a very loyal friend,” she said. “Chris was a very kind student. He was hard-working, committed to his vision, which was to be a wrestler.” Smith said Benoit remained humble, even after he realized his dreams. “He was a pretty quiet guy for a guy in show business. When I talked to him on the phone one week before I declared Benoit Day, he was pretty excited coming here,” he said. “He was at that time the world champion.” Wrestling insider Dave Meltzer, who runs the website wrestlingobserver.com and knew Benoit for 20 years, said he’s heard “a million rumours” about what happened in the Benoit house. Benoit was supposed to appear at a wrestling show in Beaumont, TX, on Saturday, but didn’t appear, Meltzer said. When he failed to appear at a pay-per-view event Sunday in Houston, Meltzer said, organizers covered by saying Benoit had to cancel because of “personal issues.” Meanwhile, Metlzer said, WWE brass were frantically phoning Benoit at home to find out what was going on. Finally, he said, they called the local police and asked them to check out his home. “I’m shaken up,” Meltzer said. “Chris was as respected as any wrestler in the last 25 years. The younger wrestlers of today idolized him or looked up to him.” -With files from Canadian Press [email protected] -

WXIA-TV out of Atlanta, Georgia is reporting that the deaths of the Benoit family are being investigated as a double murder-suicide. A source from the Atlanta media says Benoit is being looked at as the probable perpetrator, and that his wife Nancy and his son may have been dead before today. Autopsies on Tuesday morning will help pinpoint the causes and times of death. You can read the complete story from WXIA-TV at this link. Furthermore, WAGA Fox 5 out of Atlanta is reporting that Benoit was found in the weight room, Nancy in her office, and the son Daniel in his bedroom. Indications, according to the report, were that Benoit was the perpetrator. http://rajah.com/base/node/8346 -

We just a had a 12 year old boy found here, who was tortured with boiling water by his sister, mother and step father and i think others. It was a long term thing. The sister is only like 16 and is now under arrest, and they found his mother buried in the frontyard of the home. -

Mr. McMahon "dead" - Now for the "whodunit" angle.

I wonder who they picked out of OVW to play the lead agent? I'd say go with Cabana. Seriously, he could be perfect for it as the bumbling FBI agent. I love this idea...well part of me -

Watching some El Gigante from WCW and he got a really big pop. Plus I stumbled upon a Scott Steiner vs Ric Flair match from 1990 (not the clash bout) Scott pins Flair 1-2-3 -
LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – Officials from FEG (the parent company of K-1), EliteXC, and Showtime announced today, not only their plans for a ground breaking event on June 2nd, but also several new alliances around the world. Doug DeLuca, EliteXC’s CEO, verified what MMAWeekly had reported last week, that the K-1/EliteXC co-promoted event on June 2nd will actually be two shows in one. The first portion, the EliteXC portion of the show, will consist of a one-hour special that will air on Showtime’s premium channel and will serve as a lead-up to the K-1 portion of the show, which will air on a pay-per-view broadcast that will be distributed by Showtime PPV. As previously reported, the event will be held at the 92,000-seat capacity Los Angeles Coliseum. In DeLuca’s own words, “There are many, many historic events that will happen on June 2nd. This will be the largest MMA event to ever take place on U.S. soil. It is taking place at the L.A. Coliseum.” “We will be doing two separate shows out of this one event,” explained the EliteXC exec. “We will be doing a one-hour special Showtime presentation, which will be free to Showtime subscribers. It will be called EliteXC Dynamite USA. And then immediately following, Showtime will be pushing viewers to the pay-per-view event… called Pro Elite Presents Dynamite USA.” The televised events of June 2nd, featuring a fight between Brock Lesnar and Hong-Man Choi as well fights involving MMA legend Royce Gracie and former NFL player Johnnie Morton, were only half of the focus of today’s press conference. Perhaps just as interesting was the inclusion of various new collaborators in the Pro Elite movement to unite MMA forces in a stand against the UFC/Pride juggernaut. DeLuca explained, “From the moment that Pro Elite was conceived, we’ve always said that in order to grow this sport, it will take collaborativeness, it will take inclusiveness, and it will take the willingness of other organizations to work together, to cross-promote, and to ultimately create a true world championship system. This is a major step in that direction. This is a major step in the continuation of the next generation of mixed martial arts.” Following his words into the winds outside the L.A. Coliseum, several collaborators were announced. Adding to the conglomeration of Showtime/Pro Elite/EliteXC and FEG/K-1 were Strikeforce, BodogFight, Cage Rage, and Spirit XC. Both Cage Rage, the most prominent fight brand in Europe, and Spirit XC, the largest promotion in South Korea, were represented at the press conference. Andrew Geer and Dave O’Donnell, who head up Cage Rage, were enthusiastic about the collaboration: “Thank you so much to all the partners in the newly formed alliance for inviting us over here. We’re very proud to be part of this event… It’s a fantastic time.” Also in attendance was Kwong Park from SpiritMC, who said, “I am really glad to be here to join the alliance.” Summing up this new alliance, DeLuca said, “This sport will be an Olympic sport. This sport will have world cup champions. This sport will have true world champions… A collaboration means that we share fighters… This alliance speaks to everyone working together to make this a better place for the sport and a better place for the fighters… It’s a way to help other people succeed in the sport. It doesn’t need to be just one…”
