If Jones beats Calzaghe, and he will, this would make a perfect opportunity for a Hopkins vs Jones rematch.

I apologize for giving you the outcome so late but here its is! Hopkins by split decision. I think Hopkins will be able to utilize the same clinch and stall tactics that he utilized against Calzaghe to greater effect in this fight. Pavlik in his big wins fought guys wth poor defense who were looking for that one punch KO, this time he will be fighting someone with little ouput and a who is a natural counterpuncher.

EliteXC has had its last show; promotion to fold

I don't think things are that dire in terms of the damage that Petruzelli has caused qith his comments. I have been watching ESPN and even the all sports news version hasn't made much of the loss besides the PTI guys on Monday; and the potential fixing has not been mentioned at all. I think they ride this out and feed Kimbo and debut Ortiz on the same show. Hotshot the Pay-Per view between the right away and try to gain some traction. The other scenario which is highly unlikely given Petruzelli's candor; is that they have Petruzelli fight Ortiz and still give Kimbo a can. Ortiz should win but if he doesn't Petruzelli comes off as the real thing and you can make the rematch with Kimbo.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

I was watching Bowe vs Holyfield 1 and after the 10th RD, one of the greatest in boxing history; it made me think of what would be comprable in the history of MMA. Griffin vs Bonnar Rd 3 is basically a pre-requisite, Hughes vs Trigg 2 where Hughes becomes Superhuman and gets out of the deepest RNC and comes back and wins. There is Sapp vs Nogueira just for Nogueira overcoming the behemoth after nearly being crushed. After we debate what is worthy enough to be considered, maybe we can get a poll going and vote on it.

    EliteXC: Heat

I thought about a way out that they could've utilized Saturday night. Get Shamrock and Kimbo who were both at the arena into the cage and have them cut a promo for their future fight. Given their volatile natures I'm sure both fighters would've given the audience something they could hold onto until they fought. A few punches thrown etc. Shamrock would be cleared in 38-43 days; that would make a perfect fight opportunity for Thanksgiving Day at halftime of the NFL game. 15 minutes (or less) of the prized male demographic of 18-34 watching Kimbo and Shamrock go at it.

I think when Carano fights that Cyborg chick she'll definitely take some damage. During the event they showed a clip from her untelevised fight and she looks scary as hell. If she can take Carano down then I don't hold much hope for a victory for Carano. Gina Carano will not be in the same building with Cyborg after last night's debacle much less fight her. I don't see them fighting until possibly 2010 if ever. Carano is all Shaw has at this point after his idiocy in letting Kimbo fight an unknown after he made Slice the foundation of his company. To the freakshow argument, whoever said it doesn't work is completely wrong. Boxing has been filled with freakshows and when there is a racial component added as well I.E. Black vs White it is a pure winner. In MMA as well as boxing, the freakshow heavyweight is gold. Ko's are king, always. EliteXC had a perfect opportunity to present themselves as a viable contender against the UFC. Kimbo had the internet fandom which continued to grow and the look of a killer in the cage. Shaw could've rode out Kimbo's buildup to a pay-per view with Ortiz if he didn't pull the moronic move of putting Kimbo up against an unknown. The irony here is that Ken Shamrock was the gateway fighter that brought MMA to the forefront in North America, and by his stupidity last week; he may have inadvertently removed the man who could've been the gateway fighter for a new generation.

This is why a Don King is so handy. You will get a small percentage of the cash due you but you won't get derailed on primetime TV with an unknown fighter. This has to be fight of the year for the " Purifying" effect it should have on MMA if the critics of Kimbo are to be believed.

    EliteXC: Heat

Let's see the full effect of Shamrock's stupidity, shall we? Shamrock's career is over. Kimbo's career is over. Gina Carano will not be in the same building with Cyborg until late 2009. Shamrock is Murphy's law personified.

For those of you here that hate Kemn Shamrock, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Ken Shamrock's imprudence just gave you the biggest gift in MMA in years. Who in the world sanctioned this fight? This is why wrestling wins. You would never put the franchise up against an unknown fighter. They just killed about 2 or 3 main events with this KO. Gina Carano will NOT be fighting Cyborg now. No way in the world.

Man, I know those Affliction execs are breathing a sigh of relief. If Big country was in better shape he may have finished Arlovski when he stunned him with that right. This is a great boost for Arlovski and Affliction, I hope the next time we get Belfort on free TV.

How in the world could someone judge that fight 29-28? That's almost as moronic as the judge who had Mayorga beating Mosley last Saturday. I think they will make the Carano/Cyborg fight and I like Carano's chances.

    EliteXC: Heat

DAMN! No Shamrock, this is a big disappointment. EliteXC better go the old WCW route and have Kimbo call out someone from the UFC like Liddell or possibly or Couture. They have nothing to lose by pulling this stunt at this point. 500,000 would be the biggest straight money offer either has ever received.

Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock- Sentiment is with Ken but everything else says Kimbo by annihilation. Kimbo RD 1 KO 1:35 Jake Shields (Champion) vs Paul Daley (Challenger) for the EliteXC WW Title- I like Shields striking and I think it will make the difference in the fight. Shields 2nd RD TKO 3:03 Gina Carano vs Kelly Kobald-Gavin- Carano is the better striker and has shown she can win even though she is gassed. Carano 3rd RD KO 2:05 Murilo Rua vs Benji Radach- Shogun's little brother gets redemption on the big stage. I would like to see a rematch with Lawler after this win. Rua by unanimous decision. Andrei Arlovski vs Roy Nelson- Arlovski seems reborn ever since he left the UFC and I expect his winning streak to continue. Arlovski by unanimous decision.

Ken Shamrock was the fighter that attracted me to the sport as a teen and he is still my favorite. I wouldn't mind if he won but I don't want the Kimbo Express to be derailed just yet. Rutten have lost to the ankelock twice against Shamrock must have Kimbo seeing the counter in his sleep. Shamrock is essentially MMA's Mayorga but I'm glad he is getting the big payday. Kimbo by annihilation RD 1 I think we will get Carano vs Cyborg on the first EliteXC pay-per view.

Off the top of my head. Mitch " Blood" Green- Successfully campaigned for a fight against Mike Tyson using the most Clubberesquue techniques ever seen. It was a nightly event here in NYC watching Green calling out " Cicely" Tyson. Antonio Tarver- In the most successful use of campaigning for a title fight, Tarver hounded Jones until he gave in not once but to Jones chagrin twice. Zab Judah- Judah used every insult in the book to get Tzyu to put up the belt. He got rocked but he got the fight.

It also takes an absolute genius not to look at the time of the post in question before making an insult. You still butchered Omar's name It happens. Now excuse me while I listen to the wailing sobs of The Mets fans around here.

There is joy for me as this loss is a vindication of Willie Randolph as a manager. Maniya(SP) had the gall to fire Randolph over the phone in the midst of the Mets having a winning streak. Now they have choked again and Maniya was just given a 4 YR extension. What is the common denominator in The Mets underachieving now? I'll tell you, M A N I YA!!! As a Yankess fans it is always great to turn the screws against The Mets faithful! There better be extra police on that 7 train for the next 2 hrs.

The attributes which you admire in Williams so much is eactly the reason he is a veritable unknown to most boxing fans. He should be challenging other title-holders Clubber Lang style at every major fight. He KO'd the current champion and yet I haven't seen him come out and challenge him at all. The guy was at the Mosley match last night, that would've been a 2 for 1 publicity stunt for Williams.

Mosley provided the most enjoyable KO of the year! Mayorga is the perfect heel and his antics Rd after Rd had me begging for Mosley to hit him with that sledgehammer left hook to end the fight. Pavlik vs Hopkins is next and I can't wait for the 24/7 shows. I think Hopkins takes the fight in the worst big matchup of the year. I could see it being dubbed as wrestlemania at the end of it.

WWE General Discussion - September 2008

He is a manger at Target. That's a job, a career. He can't perform anymore, so the indy circuit isn't a option. He's making a steady income and keeping his health and his sanity intact while Flair is paying off huge debts, wrestling into his 60's, getting divorced and getting his ass kicked by his daughter's boyfriend. He teaches history at a middle school in Pennsylvania. And Flair's not 60 years old, Choken. And he didn't get his ass kicked by his daughter's boyfriend. I'm happy to hear Douglas got an oppourtunity to utilize his degree in education. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rick Steiner go the teaching route in a few years as well.

The roundtable's are my favorite segment and the highlight of The Factions discusssion was Ric Flair's commentary. The standout was Flair gloating over Shane Douglas working at Wal-Mart. I don't know if its true but I would hate to think Douglas has fallen on such hard times.
