WWE General Discussion - September 2008
Warriorfan replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
This may be a bit of tangent but I was watching 24/7 and the roundtable on factions and Flair was gloating over the fact that The Franchise was now working at Wal-Mart. Is this true? I know Douglas has issues with drugs but I never knew it was at Rick James levels where he would blow that WCW money and be at this point. -
UFC 88: Breakthrough - Liddell vs. Evans

I know the tech savvy among us is working on the KO OF THE YEAR gif as we speak. I still can't believe Chuck took a one hitter quitter. -
UFC 88: Breakthrough - Liddell vs. Evans
Warriorfan replied to jackmcmanus21's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
I predicted a 1st RD Ko for Rashad and I'm so happy that my prediction came true . Goodbye, Chuck thanks for the memories. -
Since this is the defacto boxing thread, Rocky Juarez just had the comeback of the year in the 11th RD. It was incredible.

UFC 88: Breakthrough - Liddell vs. Evans

No he isn't... Are you high? Evans fought at Heavyweight and dropped down to Light heavyweight. Did Liddell ever fight as a Heavyweight -
UFC 88: Breakthrough - Liddell vs. Evans
Warriorfan replied to jackmcmanus21's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
UFC 88 PREDICTIONS Rashad Evans vs. Chuck Liddell- I have debated this outcome forever it seems. Liddell is the superior striker and has the benefit of experience. Given the stakes this should be enough for him to win. Evans has youth, a strong boxing background and is naturally bigger than Liddell. I want to say Liddell especially since if its close he will get the decision. Evans by split decision- The hamstring and age catch up to Liddell Rich Franklin vs. Matt Hamill- Hamill wins this easily. Hammill should have improved striking and his wrestling ability will overwhelm Franklin at this weight. Hammill- Unanimous decision Dan Henderson vs. Rousimar Palhares- Henderson gains redemption and breaks the losing streak. Henderson KO 2ND RD 2:30 Karo Parisyan vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida Tim Boetsch vs. James Lee- Lee submission 2ND RD Armbar 1:05 Roan Carneiro vs. Ryo Chonan- Ryo Chonan split decision Matt Brown vs. Dong Hyun Kim- Kim 1st RD KO 3:45 -
Randy Couture signs new 3 fight contract with UFC

I think those knees Herring gave Brock on the chin flush with no results says something about Lesnar's chin. -
Randy Couture signs new 3 fight contract with UFC
Warriorfan replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
I just saw this and I can't stop smiling. I know its ridiculous on paper but I make Brock the favorite in this one. The rust combined with Lesnar's superior strength and speed may be too much for Randy without him having a tuneup first. -
With 2 fights left what do you think the prospects are of Brock Jumping ship if he doesn't receive a title-fight in his last contracted match? Brock would be a shoe-in for EliteXC as a contender against Kimbo( the real belt is an afterthought) or he could be a headliner with Affliction. Pardon the off-topic post but Lupe Fiasco's sig is freaking me out!

I can't believe he's gone. My condolonces go out to his family and friends. While I'm happy a new generation got introduced to him on SOUTH PARK; I hope those same individuals pick up HOT BUTTERED SOUL and the SHAFT soundtrack to see why he is truly a music icon. Its a bit morbid but I'm dreading hearing that next death announcement. This seems to be the only superstition that always bears fruit.

BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK !!!!!! Now, to the show. It was a great card and I'm ecstatic that Brock came through and shut a lot of the critics up. I expect Dana to strike while the iron is hot and give Brock a title shot as he only has 2 remaining fights on his contract. P.S. BRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

I am in complete disbelief. My sympathies go out to his family and friends. Bernie Mac is a legend and you can see him at his best in The Kings of Comedy and The Players Club. So much of modern Black comedy stems from Bernie mac. I didn't even know he was ill.

GSP vs Fitch- A complete mismatch. GSP RD 2 submission 2:45 Brock Lesnar vs. Heath Herring - This one is difficult. Both Lesnar and Herring were a hair's breadth away from beating the 2 men who will compete for the Heavyweight title. Herring is both tough and experienced and still has KO power with his strikes, despite this fact I am going with Brock. Lesnar will get the take down and replicate his performance against Mir only this time there won't ( I hope) be incompotent interference from the referee to rob him of victory. Lesnar RD 1 KO -shoot, forerarm strikes 3:34 Kenny Florian vs. Roger Huerta- If I didn't see the Countdown special it would be Florian hands down. Of course, did see the special and I want Huerta to complete the storybook aspect of his life. Huerta is intense and strong but he is also wild and lacking in defense. Florian is the consumate professional with pinpoint striking. It will be a great fight. Florian Unanimous decision- Demian Maia vs. Jason MacDonald MacDonald RD 2 RNC 2:05 Cheick Kongo vs. Dan Evensen Kongo Unanimous decision

If Vitor wins and Ortiz beats Babalu; I would love to see a rematch between the two. I think Belfort was robbed in that previous fight.
-
Belfort vs Lindland is very hard to call. I think Vitor still has the hand speed and reflexes to elude and hurt Lindland but his mindset is always the x-factor. Lindland didn't look good in his last fight but getting Belfort as a scalp might be enough motivation to have a great performance. I think Belfort catches him a combination in the second and knocks him out.

Judah officially falls to gatekeeper status with this loss. This was a terrible time to come up short as he could've easily had 2 big fights with a victory in the hottest division in boxing. As an aside, whoever is handling Paul Williams needs to be fired. How Williams wasn't there to confront Margarito is unthinkable. Williams has to force himself into the conversation at this point.

What are the possibilities of a catch-weight fight between Fedor and Silva? -

Seeing as how that fight doesn't exist, no. Strange, I heard about the fight here and how Henderson made an incredible 3rd RD charge. -
Obviously, the Dean was testing the boxing knowledge of those in this thread. I am happy you passed grasshopper. Mosley vs Mayorga- Mosley is too fast and too strong for Mayorga. Mosley 8th RD tko Judah vs Clottey- this is tough. I see Judah getting his usual fast start and struggling to hold on. Judah by split decision

Do you think we will see AFFLICTION and EliteXC fighters publicly calling out UFC fighters circa WCW vs WWF in the Monday night wars? If Fedor, Belfort and Lawler get some more coverage I can see some publicity stunts where fighters challenge UFC champions with twice their potential slary as a purse. -
Since I'm on a roll. Mosley vs Judah Judah showed that his skills are still intact in the Cotto fight and in similar fashion Mosley proved the same thing in his controversial loss to Cotto. I think Judah will be able to match Mosely in the eary rds but by RD 6, Mosley's superior strength will come through and he will rock Judah. Mosley 9th TKO P.S. Dean of boxing is still curiously absent from my title
-
I would like my title to now be Dean of boxing after tonights fight. I thank you in advance for your consideration.
-
That was a great fight and Dean gave Smith every opportunity before that stoppage.
-
Lawler better watch for that left hook. He seems primed for it.
