I like Cotto's aggression but his defense is terrible as evidenced by the Zuda and Mosley fights. I don't think he will be able to negate Magaritto's reach and power by being assertive and he will take too many shots. Maragarrito by 10th RD KO P.S. Of course this could all be residual anger from Mosley not getting the decision over Cotto

Affliction - Banned: Fedor vs. Sylvia

300,000 for Lindland is somewhat shocking but I'm happy he got this kind of payday. If Vitor has anything close to his ability at his peak he could be making similar money in no time.

Burns gets a bonus for nearly blinding another fighter. This idiocy defines the phrase adding insult to injury.

    The Dark Knight

Just back from the theater. Perfect. Absolutely brilliantly perfect. I didn't believe it could live up to the hype but it supassed it. The Dark Knight brought a level of depth, complexity and intensity never seen in the superhero genre. When you see Ledger in the bank for the first time he immediately has you captured and every momenet after that is his descending into the madness that is the Joker. When these films work is when they take the essence of the characters and don't tamper with it and here Nolan did that seemlessly. Joker is insanity personified, Batman is the fanatic who has to come grips that he is fighting a war he will never win and the most tragic is Dent who becomes what he hated the most. I mentioned the dual experience for a comic fan watching a comic based movie but here that wasn't present at all. I didn't know where each character would go and after I see glimpses of everything from Englehart, Miller, Kane and Finger I knew the movie was an all-time classic. While it is selfish to focus on myself while Ledger's loved ones lost someone dear to them; I really wish I would've had the chance to see what he would've done next. P.S. The Watchmen trailer on the big screen is incredible!

    UFN - Silva vs. Irvin

I meant Anderson actually. That was before I just read about Rampage being held on observation as a potential danger to himself and others.

Who said Sylvia fights in the UFC ?

    UFN - Silva vs. Irvin

Thinking optimistically involving Rampage, there is almost no way he gets the rematch with Griffin now so I think its likely we will see Rampage vs Sylva. If Rampage gets a severe verdict from the Judge the fight is a big payoff before his absence/release?, if he gets off with probation it serves the same financial benefit while positioning both men greatly for a future title shot.

Affliction - Banned: Fedor vs. Sylvia

Since it wasn't mentioned I presume that there was no staredown between Fedor and Couture. I just saw the Belfort KO on FSN and really brought back memories of the invincible teenaged Belfort that dominated in the UFC. Did any version of FSN show the Fedor fight? I could swear as early as today FSN ran an ad for the fight to air tonight.

If its legally possible I hope we get a staredown between Fedor and Couture tonight.

The rust factor brings an element of jeopardy that hasn't been present in a Fedor fight for a long time. With that said, I think Fedor may adopt Monson's style against Sylvia but a lot more successfully; he will get the take down and submit him. Fedor- 1st RD armbar

    UFN - Silva vs. Irvin

Anderson Silva vs. James Irvin- After watching the countdown special I was tempted to go with the upset until I heard Irvin utter these words " I will win in the clinch". The last man who said that was Dan Henderson and well know the outcome. Winner 2nd 2:09 RD KO- Silva Brandon Vera vs. Reese Andy- I have no confidence in Vera and have only seen the clips package from Andy. Vera is so erratic but I think he will come in focused and win. Winner TKO RD 3 3:54 Vera Frankie Edgar vs. Hermes Franca- Franca by Unanimous decision. Jake O'Brien vs. Cain Velasquez- O'Brien 2nd RD KO. Kevin Burns vs. Anthony Johnson- Johnson split decision C.B. Dollaway vs. Jesse Taylor- Taylor 1ST RD KO.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

I believe there was an argument on the highway and in a case of road rage an individual flashed a gun toward Jackson. In fear of his life, Jackson tried to evade the motorist and in doing so inadvertantly struck another vehicle(s). With his vehicle damaged and in being in an agitated state, Jackson attempted to find a safe place to stop. Once he realized that officers were attempting to pull over his vehicle he immediately stopped. Warriorfan legal services is available for all your legal needs.
  14. There is a great deal of drama added to a fight by having the scores all revealed at the end; but given the debacle that took place last night with the Rampage vs Griffin decision it may be best to announce the scores at the end of each round.

    This Week in Baseball 7/14 - 7/20

I'm so glad I switched from RAW just in time to watch Hamilton enter the zone in the Home Run Derby. He just became a part of Yankee Stadium history and should be hearing from some movie agents ( TV Movie of the week minimum) after this. Roy Hobbs 2008

    WWE Raw (7/14/2008)

I hope some of you guys switched to ESPN and watched Josh Thompson in the Home Run Derby. Back on point, I really forgot how much a great crowd can enhance the viewing experience. From the Michaels/Jericho brawl( Thompson tearing down Yankee Stadium with HR's notwithstanding ) on this has been a great show.

    UFC 86: Jackson vs Griffin

What an illogical statement. Most of the experts on MMA said Forrest won the fight or it was a draw. I'll take their opinion over "six fans". I mean, is that the BEST you can do to say Rampage won that fight? That "show any six fans this fight and five out of six will say Rampage won"? Seriously? Most MMA fans are as bad as pro-wrestling marks. I wouldn't trust any kind of serious logical determination to them by a mile. Most of that fight was a kickboxing fight, and under K-1, Forrest wins that fight hands down. He landed more. He did more. He injured Rampage. he flat out outhustled Rampage throughout the fight with only round four being the exception. Had Rampage not gotten the knockdown in Rd1, then Forrest wins THAT round too. If this is what the issue has devolved into, then this "controversy" is as idiotic as I perceived it to be. 1. Rampage landed more power shots than Griffin. This is clear in RDS 1, 3, 4 by any standard. 2. The 10-8 RD. Griffin dominated the RD but a 10-8 for smothering, leg kicks and a botched guiilotine. 3. Rampage was the more effective striker- When Rampage landed a shot they were almost always definitive. This fact is even more evident upon rewatching the fight. 4. Precedent- Historically, champions don't lose their titles in a fight of this nature. It was a great fight and probably will be FOTY but Griffin's offense doesn't demonstrate to me the classic notion of taking a title away from a champion.

They really need to have RD by RD scoring announced from now on.

    UFC 86: Jackson vs Griffin

Look at this scoring Adalaide Byrd who scored it 48-46, gave 4 and 5 to Jackson and Griffin 1, 2 and 3 with 2 as 10-8 Nelson Hamilton had it 48-46 with 1 and 4 for Jackson, and Griffin getting 2 10-8 Roy Silbert had it 49-46 with only round 4 for Jackson. One !@#$^&* round for Jackson and this is legitimate. I won't go as far as to swear off the UFC as some are doing at other sites but this outcome is beyond disgraceful. The UFC has now fallen into the "rigged" mire with boxing given this Forrest victory. As far as "low kicks" show any 6 fans this fight and I will bet 5 out of 6 will see that Rampage clearly won 3 RDs. What other MMA title fight of this magnitude was this badly scored? Even more where did you have the kind of power shots Rampage landed discounted in favor of leg kicks?

    UFC 86: Jackson vs Griffin

There is controversy because of the moronic scoring of that fight. Rampage didn't lose RD 2 10-8, that is just idiotcy. Besides Forrest obviously winning RD 2 tell me the other 2 rounds Rampage lost in order for him to be a former champion?
  22. Warriorfan

    UFC 86: Jackson vs Griffin

Rampage won that fight. It obviously wasn't what I expected but Griffin fell short of dominating that last RD in order to cement a victory. This is perfect for the UFC as they have the setup for an end of the year clash with the controversy. P.S. Who cursed at the screen when Forrest was declared the winner?

    UFC 86: Jackson vs Griffin

Quinton Jackson vs Forrest Griffin- Griffin will look to exchange with Rampage and that will be his downfall. KO 1ST RD 2:45 Rampage Josh Koscheck vs Chris Lytle- Koscheck 3rd RD Submission RNC Tyson Griffin vs Marcus Aurelio- Griffin will brawl and make it an ugly fight. Griffin Decision Patrick Cote vs Ricardo Almeida- Cote by decision Joe Stevenson vs Gleison Tibeau- Stevenson gains some redemption after losses to the best fighters in his decison. Stevenson 1st RD KO GNP

I can't believe CM Punk is the World Heavyweight champion! I haven't been this genuinely excited about RAW in years. They should have Punk run with the belt at least until Survivor Series.

2008 NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Celtics

Kobe is the new Jordan huh, he wasn't even Harold Miner in the Finals. The Lakers performance in game 6 was beyond pathetic and I'm glad I didn't bother to watch. The only solace I can take out of the 2008 Finals is that I hate all things Boston even more and now I hate The Lakers for allowing Boston to add to their championship tally.
