Claremont and anyone, really. Cockrum, Byrne, Cockrum again, Paul Smith, JRJR... the guy had a run of some awesome artists until Silvestri. There is an element of truth to that, but I think it was just a case of right place, right time for the muties. And I don't care what anyone says, Gambit sucks.

I'm thinking that you really, really have to like Steve Epting's art. The only two picks I have that would be eligible would be the X-Men and Bone. As I've mentioned, picking an entire creative team's run on X-Men covers a shitload of stuff, so that would be out in my opinion. Bone... I'm not so sure about. I'm not sure where the logical cut is on the first arc if I were to take that.

Instead we get a Hobbit as... Beak?

I'm not sure there is one. I mean, there was only one in mythology, right? Sadly, that bull is not me. Didn't get to go to England, but I sure as hell got to pay for the tickets...

Case by case, I think.

Let's not forget that he also has wins over Karo, Mayhem Miller and Jay Heiron (who was allegedly hot shit even back then - just ask Joe Rogan) on his resume. I've heard rumours that two fighters are affected by fight changes on short notice, but that's just me. To use a Rudoism, GSP basically gang raped Sherk and came back for seconds in that fight. But regardless, Sherk's resume includes wins over natural 185ers, so I'd have to say that his slightly-more-active LnP has worked pretty well for him at either weight class.

Used to go to the one at SW Fwy and Kirby on occasion when I lived down there. I think we ended up going to eat pho more though, since it was cheaper and tastier.

Stevie's window expired, but I think my pick is probably not what he was thinking of regardless: Claremont's one lucky fuck to have worked with some great artists, and I believe that this is the only time he worked with Brent Anderson.

My next pick set the tone for the Valiant universe, before it got bought up by Ack!Lame and rebooted into crap. Unity

Going the indy route, as I choose one of the most enjoyable books you'll probably ever read - and likely one I will read to my daughter later on: This spans issues 1-6 of the series.
-
I thought they were grillz, actually.

I remember how they were giving away free passes to the Toronto Indy at an Argos game the one year they sponsored it. Giving them away were (ahem) "models" that had less on than dancers at the Rail. You are correct - it's Vodka+carbonated lemonade up here. I've actually seen people spit Smirnoff Ice out and say "what is this shit" when they had the US version. But that aside Molson Ice was a beer made by the mythical ice brewing process, which I seem to recall was more gimmick than anything else.

Frank Miller. John Romita Jr. Kicking ass on Daredevil as only they can:

True dat. That said, at least it's not Steelback.
-
I'm pretty sure that this was actually a series about trying to get people to watch the Seattle Mariners, and not an Elseworlds book...

Thanks. No offense to the other NFC South guys, but the Bucs are one of those teams I've never really liked. Plus I feel like I have something to prove against Hawk for that level 3 tiebreaker loss last season.

I'm sorry but that looks nothing like a Molson bottle. I checked about 10 times to verify that.

I'd like Philly.

UFC 88: Breakthrough - Liddell vs. Evans
starvenger replied to jackmcmanus21's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
So, is UFC 89 gonna be called "Conquer"? Rich is gonna have his hands full with Hamill. I don't like the kid but he's a tough match for anyone he goes up against. -
Wait, which one was the Hydra? Since Steviekick changed his pick, I would like to take the first X-Men set I mentioned above. I believe that it was the first collected edition I ever got for comics, and it holds some nostalgia for me. My copy is actually signed by Claremont, but sadly I never got to meet Dave Cockrum. So that's Giant-Sized X-Men #1, X-Men 94-100.
-
Pretty much a case-by-case, I think. The problem with the X-Men phonebooks is, like I said, there are several different, distinct, and individually TPB-worthy stories in the 30 or so issues. Steviekick's choice covers a lot of that. You've got the All-New All Different X-Men (GS#1, XM#94-100), Phoenix Saga (101-108), Savage Land (109-116), Japan/Alpha Flight (117-121), Proteus (125-128), and the Dark Phoenix Saga (129-137). That's a shitload of stuff
-
I was gonna take Dark Phoenix if you weren't, actually.
-
Please. I should point out that had Claremont not packed about 10 TPB-worthy stories in 30 issues, this would be a non-issue.
