Rest of the Tampa picks. Like Chris, I could've gone that way, but where's the fun in that? Plus, with no money on the line, what's the point? Atlanta @ St. Louis (4.5) Buffalo @ Washington (5.5) Detroit @ Minnesota (3.5) Houston @ Tennessee (4.5) Jacksonville @ Indianapolis (6.5) N.Y. Jets @ Miami (1.5) (5.5) San Diego @ Kansas City Seattle @ Philadelphia (3.5) San Francisco @ Carolina (2.5) Tampa @ New Orleans (3.5) Cleveland @ Arizona (1.5) (3.5) Denver @ Oakland (1.5) N.Y. Giants @ Chicago Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh (7.5) (20.5) New England @ Baltimore Tampa 20

Well, he's being led around like an idiot because frankly, he's the second biggest idiot on the show, and always has been. Plus I have to think that the writers turn his various powers on and off at their convenience to further the story. Which by the way looks like it's still heading towards some version of the "Days of Future Past" scenario You forget that Adam knew who all the principals in The Company were, but finding Victoria led to anyone being one step closer to finding the virus, so letting Matt find out was probably not an option if she could help it. And I don't know about you, but I prefer it when Victoria Pratt looks like this:

Yes, but if you yourself are not exactly street smart... well, you're probably gonna bring a knife to a gunfight. Thanks for the link Yuna.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

That's a total ground fight on paper. As much as I respect Hazelett's BJJ, I think Kos is too strong and has enough BJJ training to counter what Dustin's got. And if you want to read that as "Lay and Pray his way to victory", I totally understand. But after getting schooled by GSP, you'd think Kos would try to improve just a bit more, and I think the guy can surprise us with something new in his arsenal. Dude, I hope that was $12 for at least 4 issues, because no one should have to be pay $12 for a single issue of a magazine, ever. -
Jamie Noble used it for a while - he applied it from what's probably best described as a seated guard, but doesn't use it currently. Certainly he won't get a chance when he's jobbing to Palumbo.

Green Bay @ Dallas (7.5) I think this game will be available in about as many homes in Canada as it will in the US, thanks to TSN picking up the broadcast...

Geez, was this guy somewhat of a renaissance man or what? Rest in peace, Dr. Cade.

I guess respect doesn't get you a whole lot when it comes to Matt Hughes.

No, they both had a round on each other according to the score cards. The third round was where whoever got it had the win in the bag. Domination is more like Couture/Sylvia. This is where the 10 point must has some flaws. If you look at the first round, it was probably 10-10 as both guys had some time on top. But Koscheck finished on top and finished strong, which left the biggest impression in the minds of two of the judges. However, if you look at the fight as a whole, there was no point where GSP was truly in trouble, whereas Kos was on his back most of the fight. Dominating might be a bit much, but to call it anything less than a clear-cut victory for GSP is ridiculous. Again, I'm a Koscheck fan, but there was no point where I could say "he's winning this fight".

Slaughter's Cobra Clutch seemed to be presented mostly as a submission, whereas the Million Dollar Dream was seen as a sleeper hold (although technically it is a submission). I dunno if that had anything to do with it. With the popularity of MMA, I'm surprised that noone in WWE/TNA has started using a kimura as a finisher. It's simple, legit painful and you can escape from it, so you could build a story around it. And in that vein, I'd also have to agree about the crossface chickenwing being the best submission.

Orville Redenbacher Natural Salt and Pepper popcorn

I'll have to try a DIY version using Alton Brown's brown bag microwave popcorn method. Not sure I can go back to the pre-prepared microwave version anymore... -
Well, I suppose I should thank the Gods of Weather for that game...

He's quite the dumbass, no? Gotta figure Nikki bites it, and Nathan is probably done as well. It would be great to see Jayna die now that Sylar's offed Zan. They really are the Nikki and Paolo of the show.

As Matt himself posted on his site: And I think we give Hughes plenty of credit for that first fight. The armbar was a nice transition, and clearly caught GSP napping - I don't think he even considered that Matt would try for a submission, and you have to give Hughes props for pulling it off. And if it weren't for Kos being on top and throwing some punches at the end of round 1, the scoring wouldn't have been as close as it was. And if Tom Brady throws an interception, New England is probably 10-1 right now. I like Kos, but you have to be realistic about the results that night. With maybe 3 minutes of total offence, Koscheck was never in any real position to win that fight. And a second submission win over GSP would be very impressive, but it's unlikely and frankly the wrong strategy. It's a five round fight, and GSP is fighting on one month's notice. The smart thing for Matt to do would be to utilize his strength and wrestling ability to get the takedown and use GnP to wear St. Pierre down going into the title rounds. Obviously, easier said than done, but as we've seen, Matt's striking isn't exactly world class and based on their first two fights going toe-to-toe with GSP is again gonna lead to trouble. Curry, there's a chance I might not be in town for this fight, but I appreciate the offer...

Random thoughts: I think Grandpa is starting to look like John Locke. Scary. U-Turn? I like it better than the Yield. The sibs better not be getting the Romber edit because aside from the Goths I'm rooting for them to win. Vyxsin has a Jelena Jensen look about her. If Jensen were a pink-haired Goth, that is. Sorry... was there something wrong with the pole dancing? Aside from it being as untraditional as can be?

OK, so Miami needs to lose by 15 at most and I win this week. That can be done, right? No? Frak.
-
I'd call it even money right now though since GSP probably hasn't even started training for this and you know Hughes has been prepping for some time now...
-
Since that was my first post in this thread, I'm assuming you're talking about Nate and this:

The fuck you talking about? Hughes got pwned in the second fight...

What KingPK said: Buffalo @ Jacksonville (7.5) Denver @ Chicago (2.5) Houston @ Cleveland (3.5) Minnesota @ N.Y. Giants (7.5) (3.5) New Orleans @ Carolina Oakland @ Kansas City (5.5) (3.5) Seattle @ St. Louis (1.5) Tennessee @ Cincinnati Washington @ Tampa Bay (3.5) San Francisco @ Arizona (10.5) Baltimore @ San Diego (9.5) Philadelphia @ New England (22.5) - This spread is ridonkulous, yet I'm still giving the points... MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

My apologies - the implication was that Cote should probably work on his ground game on the whole, not just off his back. I think we're consensus that he should in no way shape or form try to bang with McFedries. Granted Pat hits harder than Kampmann but not as hard as McFedries, and as you noted, Drew appears to have no ground game - surprising for a McMilitech guy. -
Dude it's like $4.95 and it's totally awesome. Oh, I was sold during the free previews, and Discovery HD is pretty sweet as well. It's probably happening once Sunday Ticket is done.
-
Yeah, well, they killed Superman too. He's looking pretty good for a dead guy...
-
Oh yeah. Got the the Ultimate Package at Starchoice. I'm considering paying for the HDNEt/A&E/Discovery HD package as well but it's probably not happening as long as my daughter keeps soiling 8 diapers a day (Pampers cost a lot, you know)...

Seeing a shitload of the smaller promotions on The Fight Network is a great thing for me. Which of course leads to a Bad Thing - way too many airings of "So You Wanna Fight". I guess that's not truly MMA though. So let's go with all the upsets this year, which while not good for creating definitive champs (excluding Silva and Randy, of course) or #1 contenders, gives you that "any given Saturday" feel to it.
