    UFC 74

Randy's reaction to Gonzaga's performance against Cro Cop kinda says it all... and we really only heard the audio part of it. This is a guy who works like Batman and 95% of the time can come up with a basic gameplan right away for an upcoming fight, and he had no answer for how to approach Gonzaga. Huge compliment for the Brazilian. All in all, this should be a great fight. Noone's underestimating Gonzaga now, and if anything, we're probably underestimating Randy.

    Transformers The Movie

But what about The Touch? With the Cybertronians, I'd prefer if they went more with an Alternator style, and maybe with a bit more colour, but yeah, at least Optimus looks Optimus-like. And, well, it's better than the Optimus Prime Megazord from a couple of years back.

If you've got a copy of UFN 9 he was a bonus match there. Beat Nate Mohr with a nice leglock and did some horrible breakdancing afterwards.

    TUF V: The Thread

I have to agree with YPoV here. While Nate was definitely working from the bottom, and throwing up sub attempt after sub attempt, Gray was still controlling the fight, and evading those subs. I mean, it clearly wasn't a 10-8 like B.J. was saying, but Gray still had dominant position, he was doing damage, and he was avoiding any sub attempts that Diaz threw at him. But what the Nate did do that doesn't show up in scorecards is cause Maynard to wear himself out - judges see a fighter being extra-aggressive - they don't necessarily look for the reasons why. Whether it was intentional or not, Nate managed to set up Gray for making mistakes deeper into the fight, and that's pretty much what happened - Gray got tired, left an opening, and Nate took full advantage as he should.

Yes, it was smart strategy on Koscheck's part, but the fact is that neither guy really did anything in that fight. The blame lies with both fighters there.

    Ultimate Fight Nigh

As per usual, I went about 50% on my predictions over at IP. I did get all the live fights right though, so that... really means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Based on what I know and had seen from Jason Black, I was surprised to see Black to Thiago the Unibrow in the way he did. That triangle was hella-quickly applied - very impressive.

Yeah, I just realized how lightly Lucas takes some the EU. Like with Kashyyyk: In Rebel Dawn, it's depicted as a planet with large trees in which the Wookies live. Of the seven levels, no wookie had ever been down past the 4th. It's also said that wookie legend doesn't even speculate on what's on the surface. Then in RotS, Lucas depicts wookies on the surface and using land and water faring vessels. If every piece of media goes through Lucas before being offered to the public, you would think he would keep some kind of consistency. The only thing consistent is that Lucas is consistently inconsistent. As such, I fully expect Masi Oka to show up in the inevitable prequel reissue as a time-travelling Jedi, with no real rhyme or reason as to why he's there.

Isiah Washing officially let go from Greys Anatomy

By showing up on the set and acting like nothing happened, that's how. That'll teach 'em. I don't know about that, but Meredith is truly the most annoying character on the show. Bloody shame she's the "lead".

BTW, Leonard "Bad Boy" Garcia vs Monstah Lobstah at the Finale in addition to Penn/Pulver and Huerta/Doug Evans. Are they even trying to make UFC 72 look good? Because of Penn/Pulver and Huerta, not Garcia/Lobstah, that is.

They needed to cut down on the cast anyways - losing Kate Walsh (albeit for spinoff-related reasons) really wasn't enough.

Forgot to mention that the current series, Legacy of the Force, has a rotation of 3 good Star Wars writers - Allston, Traviss and Denning, which probably helps explain why it feels tighter than the nJo series.

First off, I'd recommend anything from Zahn, Stackpole or Allston. Anderson's Jedi Academy Trilogy is OK, but not a must read. He's not a great writer, but this set of books ties in a lot with other EU stuff. New Jedi Order - looking back, you don't have to read all 18 books, but if you want to sample, then read: Vector Prime, Balance Point, Star By Star, Traitor, The Final Prophecy and The Unifying Force. Or, you could buy the Star Wars Chronology to find out what happened. The current series, Legacy of the Force, has been pretty good so far, and has started to set the stage for what happens in the Star Wars: Legacy comic, which btw sucks ass.

Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I'll throw down wit you. Here's some fight suggestions: Fisher/Stout II Franklin/Okami Penn/Pulver II And so that we don't hijack this thread, let's work out the details over PM or something.

EliteXC to run MMA in USA in front of 92K fans

Now, I'm not gonna say that this is some sort of revenge on Sleazy D's part, but I wouldn't put it past the guy to somehow pull this off...

SOP - there's a mandatory suspension if you get KO'ed or submitted. I think Chuck was declared fine medically, otherwise his suspension would be longer. NSAC info is here

    On The Lot...

I like Gary Marshall on this. For "Ghetta Rhoom", everyone else is dancing around saying "retarded", but Gary doesn't give a shit - he comes right out and says it. He's also blatantly leering at the host, which is fun in a creepy old man kinda way.

You do realize that there's an entire star wars expanded universe with novels, comics, guides and even game instruction booklets that have to follow canon, right? well that's along the lines of what I'm saying, but hasn't he already fucked a lot of that so called canon up? There are things in the Thrawn trilogy alone that were negated thanks to the prequels. Yep. Basically, he takes whatever he ideas he likes from the EU and kinda ignores the rest. Hey, if he wants to expose himself as a shitty writer (although there are some poor EU stories that I don't think even Lucas could touch in terms of crap), that's not my problem.
