You know, that's what the show needs - Barkley or Brett Hull or some other person who doesn't have that filter censoring their thoughts as a guest judge. We know Simon says what he says in order to get a reaction. A guy like Barkley, I think, really doesn't care. On a bit of a tangent, there was an interview with Randy Jackson where he called Idol the "real" reality television. Which as we all know, is bullshit (what with reality competitions having only a tenuous connection to reality and all). To me, the process of selecting an American Idol is like All-Star game voting on crack. People vote in droves for their favourites, often irrespective of how well they've performed. And they do it again. And again. And again. And yet, I still watch. Although not until they actually start doing some bad American karaoke.

Yeah, that's pretty much the point of the character. Every once in a while they extend his characterization a wee bit but they don't need him to be more than the big dumb juvenille accountant.
-
Yes, but the actors playing Toby and Kelly are also writers, so I'd argue that for at least these two characters they filled a role and the character moulded around them after. Kelly especially, since they needed Mindy Kaling for "Diversity Day".

How could it NOT happen? It's a Millar book, after all...

Yet I couldn't get into 52, and am way into Civil War. DC was way too ambitious with their multiple storylines at the beginning, and they've seemed to have gotten it together heading into the home stretch. CW: Frontline, meanwhile, has managed to be pretty cohesive despite having the multiple stories. And yes, Nextwave does rule. Too bad it's ending soon.

The Amazing Race: All-Star Edition
starvenger replied to Spaceman Spiff's topic in Television & Film
I have trouble seeing them as evil sometimes since they did some pretty stupid things during their season, but yes, you're right. -
Can't really disagree with you there. I guess we just need to torture a producer to find out what's up...

The Amazing Race: All-Star Edition
starvenger replied to Spaceman Spiff's topic in Television & Film
There were bound to be disappointments with who was in and who was out. David and Mary shouldn't really be in this - they stand out as the worst Racers of the bunch - but they're the Rupert Bonehams of TAR, so here they are. Family Edition sucked, but throwing the Weavers in would give us an "evil" team (or second "evil" team if you see Romber that way). Also, season 4 and season 6 are also not represented. Hell, even Big Brother threw loyal fans a bone by throwing Chicken George from Season One into the mix. Surely they could've gotten a team from each of those seasons. -
I think that they don't want to pre-bias you towards any of the "Semi-Finalists" yet.

We've got us a Pepper Potts...

What YNA said. I'm pretty much the opposite. I'd rather watch the performance shows than watch people vastly overrate themselves because producers decided to put them through to the Judges stage of initial auditions.

Dumb has never been a weak point of voters for these things. I wish they would give us the voting breakdowns though.

The Amazing Race: All-Star Edition

Family......Edition? Next you'll be telling me that they made a fifth Rocky movie. Someone throw up a pic of the Bransen girls to remind him... -
Olberman knows that Keeler and Logan were Republicans, right?

The Amazing Race: All-Star Edition
starvenger replied to Spaceman Spiff's topic in Television & Film
1) Kevin and Drew - The original Frat Boys, from Season 1. They finished fourth, and had a cameo as the hot dog vendors in Family Edition. 2) Danny and Oswald - Cha Cha Cha from Season 2. They also finished fourth, and although they're both gay, are not a couple, but best friends. Perhaps not coincidentally, they're probably the most likeable gay team in the history of the Race. 3) John Vito and Jill - Season Three. Jill and her brother were supposed to be on Season One, but that never happened, and Jill's brother subsequently died during 9/11. She and John Vito (her brother's friend) were dating, but apparently no longer. 8) Teri and Ian - Finished second on Season 3. Best known for Ian yelling a lot, and being the oldest team to reach the Finish Line. Apparently Ian was cranky because you're not allowed to smoke during the Race, and he gave it up right before they started. 10) Joe and Bill - Team Guido from Season 1. They finished third, and a distant third, not even reaching the finish line. They're life partners, and to me, rather annoying. And because I'm a shill, I'm linking you to my article at Inside Pulse talking about the teams and four of the known final five. Only one team is truly a surprise. -
I don't remember them saying if he died or not... Alive, but unfit to continue his duties as President...

Final episode of "You Can't Do That on Television"
starvenger replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in Television & Film
This site might be a bit more helpful than IMDB... -
It's more of a comedy than Desperate Housewives, at least. I don't know how you give UB the win without also giving Heroes the nod, although I do wonder if the number of UK voters in the HFPA would refuse to put The Office (US) on the same level as previous GG winner The Office (UK)...

How do I put this nicely... Bones is not a good show. It's a servicable crime procedural, and that's about it. All that aside, I think that you have to have a really special episode for a procedural to crack a "top 50" list.

I think they were showing that despite their differences Dwight and Jim make a good sales team.

Because as we all know, all the corruption in boxing has not touched HBO in any way, shape or form...

That's some fine work alfdogg, many thanks. On a side note, I'm on vacation for the next two weeks, so good luck to whoever makes the playoffs...

I think ripping on the Miss whatever thing was ok, but once Rosie ripped on Trump's finances, that's when the Donald took notice. Speaking of which, did Donald ever accept Mark Cuban's challenge to see who's actually richer? Or more liquid, or whatever it was?

starvenger must have me on ignore My bad. Yeah, they did have to win 2 challenges to get to the merge at 5-4, and my point is without Yul to help him, Ozzy would not have won those 2 challenges and he would be gone. It was a TEAM CHALLENGE afterall. Yul needed Ozzy to help win those team challenges just as Ozzy need Yul to win those challenges. Yul may not be as dominant physically as Ozzy, but he still was the second strongest competitor on the show. Mentally, however, Yul just blows Ozzy out of the water. naiwf also conveniently ignores the fact that YUL won one of those post-mutiny immunity challenges for Aitu by saying "fuck the crosshairs, I'm looking through the drop hole". There's another thing to consider here. Say Yul didn't have the immunity compass (because... say, Adumb found it), and was booted after the first merge TC. Who do you think gets sent to Exile Island after that? I think you need to concede what everyone else pretty much has - neither Yul nor Ozzy get to the Final TC without the other based on the roles they played at key moments in the game. Without Ozzy being a challenge demon (with Yul as backup) or Yul's strategizing, Flirty Girl beats Jonathan and Nate in the final TC. One last thing - Ozzy won the car. Even when the vote is done after the show has been filmed, the Curse of the Car strikes again.
