Sci Fi Updates Wizard of Oz

Odd to think that that was Fariuza Balk as Dorothy...

    Prison Break

You know, I may have to actually tape 24, since Heroes is on at the same time...

    Heroes

I got no problem with that. I was just saying that I'm unwilling to rate anything as perfect (except my wife ).

Refute this statement and I'll tear you a new asshole

A fucking men. Family Guy was a lot more enjoyable when it was on air during its first run and no one was watching it. Then the DVD came out and we all had to show our annoying friends. I haven't even watched Family Guy regularly since it came back on. I've seen an episode here or there but it just isn't the same. Stupid stupid damn teenagers, always overquoting stuff! Family Guy is to The Simpsons what Unhappily Ever After was to Married... with Children - a blatantly inferior copy that had it's moments. And since I know you're thinking "what moments?" about Unhappily - Nikki Cox's boobs.

    Survivor: Cook Island

Fact is, Nate should've flipped, but he had too much faith in his alliance despite having been left in the dark by them twice before. Now Jonathan figures to be $100K richer when all this is done.

Sci Fi Updates Wizard of Oz

Or BSG. Or an Ashmore brother. Anyway, why sci-fi it up? Aside from the fact that it's on Sci-Fi, that is. If you do a faithful, non-musical version of the book, and it's successful, you can get going on Baum's other 13 books in the series. I mean, it's worked with some other series of books, right?

    Heroes

That's harsh. I mean, if this was 24, I can understand the thinking. But it's not. Oh man, Watchmen is gonna bomb because of these people, isn't it? Even condensed down to 150min, it's not exactly your average action flick. They probably hate BSG too because they haven't found Earth yet. I'm not gonna call it perfect because I always gotta leave some room at the top, but it's been really good so far. And I'm looking forward to Monday's "#0 Issue" to shed some light on things.

    Reality Television

I want to believe that Borat or the Office type shows follow the idealogical theory of the mockumentary as established by Christopher Guest films. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure exactly what you'd classify Borat as. It's a little bit of a lot of things, really. The Office, however, is clearly a reality show, no matter how much the writers tell us that the crew is filiming a documentary. They only do that so as not to incur the wrath of people who hate reality tv, but there's more reality tv elements than documentary elements to it.

    Survivor: Cook Island

I really should plug this more, but Bob Mason from Survivor: Panama - Exile Island has been writing weekly columns for Inside Pulse and you may or may not agree with the guy, but it's always an entertaining read in my mind. The latest column is right here, and it's a long one.

    The Office, Season 3

That's kinda... random, yet enjoyable. Thanks, DH!

    Heroes

Wait, are people saying "I hate this show" or are they nitpicking? I'm ok with nitpicking, because that generally indicates that they care about the show...

    Reality Television

My thoughts exactly. I'm glad you got it off of your chest though. Still, as the guy who is partially in charge of the reality TV section at Inside Pulse, I figure that I need to address your comments... Rangers suck, btw. Give me 40 years of people whining about the Leafs not winning the Cup anyday First off, Real World is edited, so if we go by your criteria, it isn't real. Holmes on Homes (a great home reno/disaster show btw) is edited so that a 7-day job is shown in 24 minutes, so by your criteria, it isn't real. And most cooking shows are actually scripted. Sorry to burst our bubble on that one. Is "Reality TV" real? To an extent. You get regular people giving their real reactions (usually in "confessionals", or in front of a snarky British guy) to a situation, even if the situation is contrived. For me, the phrase "Reality TV" now more represents a genre of show rather than an accurate description of one, similar to "soap opera" - soap is no longer a primary sponsor of those shows, nor is there a whole lot of singing on them. Thankfully. So what is "Reality TV", then? Well, like I said, regular people giving their real reactions to a situation, no matter how contrived. It could be a game show/competition, a home reno show, or a show where you're locked away for 6 weeks with other people and alcohol, the basic outline is the same. Then there's dreck like Hogan Knows Best. They follow the basic concepts of Reality TV, but where standard Reality TV has normal people who the producers will edit as they please, "Celebreality TV" is there to put the "celebrities" over and feed their egos. In the end, I agree with you about the mislabeling, but somewhere along the way the name "Reality TV" stuck. But don't make the mistake of thinking that it's going away. Remember, without Reality TV, you probably wouldn't be getting stuff like Borat or The Office, both of which borrow from the format.

UFC 65: GSP vs Hughes II

I don't remember ever caring about a Tim Sylvia fight. For UFN 3, I watched all the matches up to his match with Assuerio Silva. But do remember that winners get their base x 2, so Sylvia earned $60,000 + $60,000 for the win. Hughes would've earned $150,000 had he won. GSP must've gotten another bonus somewhere. Getting $29,000 to fight seems like a strange number to me.

    Prison Break

How? Well, they haven't shot down the plane Sucre's on yet. Speculation on my part, but having the "big three" (Michael, Linc, Sucre) in trouble leading into January would really leave us hanging. Plus, sweeps isn't quite done yet.

    Prison Break

I'm assuming that Bellick will get let go once they connect things to T-Bag. But to be honest, I fully expected Bellick to make things worse for himself.

    Heroes

Ah, networking. Truly, this is an idea that needs to happen with metahumans. Or, they could just go with the old standby, "fight each other and then team up to beat the bad guy". BTW, I don't know if it was the camera angle, but Eden looked to be packing some junk in the trunk.

UFC 65: GSP vs Hughes II

You could see where hiring Marquadt and Rashad as training partners really helped GSP. Those two are known for their takedowns so using them to prepare for Hughes was a real bonus.

    The Amazing Race: 10 Edition

Well, we're gonna get one all-female team heading to the Finish Line, so that's impressive. Even more impressive when you consider that it's inconceivable that Alabama even made it this far. Agreed. Now let us never speak of <censored> again.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Wasn't thrilled with yesterday's ep (today for you guys in the US). I won't say much right now save that it stretches the realm of believability.

I don't even remember that (the chokeslam), which I'm not sure says more about me, Cope, or Florian.

UFC 65: GSP vs Hughes II

Which reminds me, why does Kit Cope have a Xyience spot? Aside from the obvious fact that he's sponsored. His claim to UFC fame is getting his ass kicked by Florian, right?
