    Sony releases photo of Venom...

You were right about that. Bit of a headache to watch it, but it works...

    The Comic Book Question Thread

Same thing with JMS. Why not just give them Ultimate books? I think Colossus is gay in the Ultimate universe, so the whole "Kitty and Peter" thing wouldn't work. Anyways, the current arc would seem to be after House of M, before Civil War and before all the shit that goes down in New X-Men, where I'm still surprised that I'm enjoying a book with X-23 in it...

    Justice League of America

Essentially, it's a look back at all the shit the "Big Three" have been through throughout the ages. Some of it's a retcon, some not. The 0 issue is not required reading though. It's the sorbet that cleanses your palate before the main course.

UFC News and notes from WON - 7/17

Ordinarily, being nicknamed "The Axe Murderer" might be a good hint of his ability, but with nicknames being handed out like comps in Vegas, people hear it and probably think, "eh."

Actually, this is where The Fight Network is in an excellent position in Canada, and potentially in the U.S. They've got licenses to great libraries from ROH, Pride, and K-1. Awesome shit, I tells ya.

    UFC 62: Babalu Vs. Liddell...

I never said knocked out. That was someone else. Definitely stunned by that spin kick though, and Hughes did a good job of recovering from that..

Maybe that's only if it's a woman studying self defence. Although a knee to the groin or a stomp on the kneecap would be a better move there...

    UFC 62: Babalu Vs. Liddell...

Not the same one you were, apparently. GSP controlled Hughes for most of that round, and did have him stunned at one point. Hughes regained control at the end and pulled out a sweet armbar to win that match. Probably one of the best one round matches you'll ever see. You do need to be careful how you build up Hughes though. The last time he was built up as a dominating, unstoppable monster, a LW beat him for the belt. Anyways, all I'm asking for is that we get 3-5 rounds of solid action. Being Canadian, I have that inherent GSP bias, but a loss to Hughes is not gonna tarnish his C.V. much...

    The Comic Book Question Thread

Way too much this week. It's normally about 2-4 books each week, but this week was nine: Civil War Civil War: X-Men Annihilation: Nova X-Factor Uncanny X-Men New X-Men Justice League of America 0 Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes Checkmate Flash

    UFC 62: Babalu Vs. Liddell...

Well, full credit to Evans because his takedowns were very impressive, as was his LnP. But that was really the only boring match that Bonnar's had since TUF. As long as he's putting on exciting fights, Bonnar's one of their go-to guys for the B show that is Ultimate Fight Night. Same goes for Leben. The thing with Bonnar-Griffin II is that you can't recreate the magic that happened in that first match. Back then, they were fairly raw fighters who were fighting for a contract. Now? They've got contracts, and maybe they won't have that same fire as they did in Ultimate Finale 1.

And the first three episodes were probably the most positive ones. Still, I wonder how you can positively spin not showing up for your team's training session? Gotta love that Brit humour...

If Diego gets past Karo (and that's a big if) can we stop saying he's overrated?

You'd have to think that Loiseau has the advantage here, but Swick has been doing so well that I'm afraid to bet against him.

    Good shows gone bad...

Power Rangers has essentially gone the way of it's Japanese counterparts, with new casts and new looks every year. The funny thing is, it got better once Disney took over Fox Family/Fox Kids and moved the production to New Zealand. Before that, it was real, real bad. Of course, this is all relative. You pretty much know what you're getting from an episode at this point - a simple, straightforward plot centered around the main characters, a big monster, stunt fighting and a big godzilla-style fight. Definitely not rocket science here.

Alf was charming in it's first season, and then it just went south from there.

I haven't seen the PPV yet, but apparently Frank Mir ate Mascarita Segrata Jr or something?

So if Vera gets a title shot and whups his ass well he have an excuse?

    UFC 61: Bitter Rivals

So is the hatred worked? If it is then it takes all the fun out of this. I don't think the hatred is worked, but remember that Tito has participated in angles in TNA, and Shammy has spent some time in pro wrestling, so you could probably call this a worked shoot.

    UFC 61: Bitter Rivals

This is almost like a "relegation" fight. You could argue that Swick is at the top of the "B" middleweights, while Loiseau hasn't fought in the UFC since his title fight. A loss won't hurt Swick, while a win by Swick would send Loiseau to the Ultimate Fight Night rotation. Or Quebec. They should really showcase Vera more on the UFNs. It'd be worth it for the promos alone.

    UFC 61: Bitter Rivals

I agree with your view on the HW fight, which is why I think Sylvia will win. He wanted the fight right away to end Arlovski's UFC career! Question - does Arlovski even speak English? Because any promo I see for that fight that actually has talking features Sylvia...

    UFC 61: Bitter Rivals

I think Ortiz beating Shamrock is pretty much a forgone expectation. So where does everyone stand on Arlovski-Sylvia?

    The 58th Annual Emmy Nominations...

Maybe for that episode where he went undercover as a child molester too. But the two eps that you mentioned were really intense, too.
