I have to agree. Rachelle is a hot chick, but I find myself just saying "eh" as far as these pics go. Playboy can do wonders with some women (witness Ashley Massaro) but I guess it's regression to the mean? On a slight tangent, I bet Hustler could produce Edith pics for about $500...

But who do they feed to Silva in the meantime, assuming that he gets by Cote? I guess it has to be Okami, right? And yes, it's an easy assumption that Silva beats Cote, but shit happens, right?

No, you're right, and it was the absolute correct strategy against a guy you're not gonna knock out and not likely to submit. But it doesn't take away from the fact that that style of fight is boring for me. It's very effective, and I can absolutely appreciate it from a strategic standpoint, but at the end of the day - it's still boring. Doesn't mean that Bisping is a boring fighter, but this one fight, at least, doesn't have the fireworks of some of his previous encounters. And I didn't intend to compare Bisping and MAchida, because frankly Machida is years of everyone in this style of counter-fighting. It's brilliant when you take the fight in not live and break it down, but as it happens, it really doesn't do anything for me.

People should have - I mean, Carla Gugino is all kinds of hot. But I'm an Elmore Leonard fan, and thus inherently biased. I've watched tonnes more WCW Saturday Night than Smackdown, therefore, it's Horshu, dammit.

Here's the problem - it's not a weak game plan, it's in fact a very smart (albeit boring) one. If it were poor, Lyoto wouldn't have a 0 in the loss column. I can see just about any fighter who is looking to "protect their spot" using the Lyoto strategy to win a fight they might otherwise lose. It's not desirable from a viewer standpoint, but I could see things heading in that direction.

So, Robert Forster is the Petrelli dad. I guess the comics/sci-fi connection is his being in The Black Hole, but I remember him more from Jackie Brown and Karen Sisco.

Bonuses ($40k) according to MMAJunkie: Fight: Lytle/Taylor KO: Luiz Kane Sub: Jim Miller The thing about Bisping is that he doesn't have the proper tools to finish a guy like Leben. He actually hit Chris in the jaw a couple of times with zero effect. As for the fight, well it was the perfect gameplan since when he engaged, he was able to pick apart Leben and Leben doesn't know how to back down. But I agree - this is fast becoming the neutral zone trap of MMA. I don't think that Lytle/Taylor is a FOTYC as Mik suggested, but you can't deny that both guys gave it their all and earned their bonus. Easily the best fight on the live card. Vera/Jardine seemed like a counterpunch fight at times. There was some nice stuff when they engaged, but a bit too much circling. I wouldn't be surprised if both guys are sent back to the undercard. Davis/Kelly. Back to the old Marcus Davis. Davis/Lytle in Ireland - make it happen!

OK, I don't say this often, but props to Sportsnet for airing this LIVE and FREE up here in Canada.

On Monday I attempted to do a roast prime rib. Since it was Canadian Thanksgiving, there was some time to plan ahead so I "dry aged" the meat based on something I saw on Good Eats. Basically, rinse the meat, pat it dry, then wrap in paper towels and put it in the fridge for a minimum 24 hours, replacing the towels every 12 hours or so. Day of, I set the oven to 250F, coated meat with olive oil and my basic rub (2 salt, 2 pepper, 1 garlic powder, 1 cayenne) stuck in the roast (on a roasting pan), and let it cook until I got an internal temperature of 160F (medium, theoretically). Took the meat out, covered it and let it rest while I cooked some potatoes etc. at 375. Towards the end, I stuck the meat back in at for about 15-20min. After, took the meat out again, cranked the oven to 500 (I also did the gravy at this point using the drippings) and stuck the meat back in for 15 min (Last step is optional, but develops an amazing crust). Took out and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving. End result - a seriously delicious and tender piece of meat. Wouldn't recommend doing this every weekend since the total cooking time was around 4 hours, but you wanna do something special, this would definitely qualify and overall it wasn't a whole lot of work - it's just the time required that makes it seem tedious.

The alt logo during the Goat Head era was perfectly acceptable:

I think the point was that Catholic pirates seems a bit unusual...
-
I'm starting to think that's the point. Hey was the bartender Horshu?

Wait... we're supposed to put thought and effort into our posts? I thought we were just supposed to snark...

There's precedent though, as there was an AFL team known as the Dallas Texans, who became the Chiefs. Plus there's plenty of people down there that would say that they're Texan first, American second. With respect to Real Salt Lake, just under 18% of the population in SLC are Hispanic, so using "Real" in the name is an obvious attempt to cater to them. Probably a better club to ridicule are Houston Dynamo since there isn't exactly a large Russian population there. And I agree with Tsar - Raptors is a horrible nickname which was accompanied by some garish colours, but I think that the team has done a lot to downplay that aspect of it and play up their status as "Canada's NBA Team".

I think so, and frankly the Mythbusters were the last team I expected to misread instructions.

Ah. This of course raises the question - HOW DID ADAM KNOW THAT? Is he Kurgan or something?
-
Don't think it was definitive with Adam, because otherwise, wouldn't Hiro have done that?
-
Has to be something like that. But I've seen rumours that there is a way to make sure that Claire/Peter/Adam/Gabe can die. And yeah, it's been done, but I daresay we expect all the comic/sci-fi homages on this show. Why does that ability sound so familiar? <checks wikipedia> Flashback from Blood Syndicate? Damn, I'm old.
-
Yes, because Mohinder reverse engineered the formula. And then like a good comic-book character he tried the damn thing on himself.
-
Well, let's see. Nathan is Prez? yep. Guy explodes at some point? Yep. Peter and Hiro go from pussies to bad asses? Yep. So, yeah. Do we call this Groundhog Days of Future Past or something now?
-
No, you did not. But based on who's on the series, you're left with Elle, Maya or, um, Trikki(?) as your candidates.
-
It's worked for the X-Men ever since Days of Future Past, so they probably won't. Glad Adam's back and that Hiro again has some sort of purpose. Hopefully this will pull him back out of the complete idiot hole he was digging for himself. Well, it IS Parkman. Seriously, can they give the guy a non-lame storyline? Claude, maybe? You mean talk, right?

The Fraternity Brothers (they don't deserve to be called Frat Boys) could pull off the mild upset and go first. Blondes look like they can barely scrape through (read: someone else fucks up) for a couple more legs. Leg 3, Leg 5... it doesn't make much difference aside from a less cushy spot in Sequesterville and a higher ranking among the bottom feeders. Anyways, the Mythbusters are my favourite team right now. Which probably means that they're destined to finish fourth.

I think that the fight's gonna happen. First off, they've been pushing Santos as someone who can beat Gina, and as a fight that you (the casual viewer) WANT to see. I don't think that they've done that with any of Gina's other opponents. Second, the Kimbo Slice Experience once again shows that you can only protect your stars for so long. At some point they have to show that they're more than just hype. Third, assuming that the fight is great (always a dangerous assumption in MMA), they could probably position it as a "best of three" which (sorry LT) would be good for business. Fourth, it's pretty much all EliteXC has got, if they're going for the mainstream audience. Shields and Lawler aren't gonna do that, and KJ Noons' ego alone aren't gonna do it. So it comes down to the pretty chick fighting a chick who inherited the nickname "Cyborg" through marriage. So yeah, if EliteXC is still around in two months, bring it on.

OK, so someone explain to me why they've got a Caranoweight match but Mrs. Cyborg's match is at the very conventional 148? Can they just set Caranoweight at 145 and be done with it?
