Idiot things heard on sports radio

I hate it... ... when Dan Patrick... ... doesn't have a guest on his show... ... because he ends up talking like this... ... and it's fucking annoying!!

While all of the remaining candidates are better than Kendra, I'd rather see Trump fire them all and use the money saved to give Bill a raise.

The Amazing Race: Family Edition Thread

Wait, which one's the fat one? Nope, the first time, the Gaghans got the boot. Non-elims are typically every other leg once teams get down to five. Which is fine by me - you make it that far in the Race (well, when you're travelling outside of North and Central America, anyways), I think you deserve a new lease on life. Of course, you're playing with the devil in that regard. Case in point: Flo. Pretty much what I'm thinking. I don't like the uberlegs that much, but it beats Phil robbing people of money and seeing them make it back after 2 minutes (TV time). My favourite line this week was the ski jump guy talking to Lindsey - "If you live, let's go out." Helluva pickup line.

    Survivor: Guatemala

Didn't think Thailand rated as high as you put it, but Brian was fucking brilliant, and aside from Shii An's sarcasm there really wasn't anything great about it. I tend to flip flop on whether ASS was good or bad. On one hand, there was a lot of boring shit with people like Jenna and Amber being, well, Jenna and Amber, but you also had Lex being an idiot and Boston Rob taking advantage of the inexplicable collective brainfart. But anyways, my ranking of the seasons: Borneo - Often imitated, never duplicated Palau - You know, the one where Steph isn't bitchy Pearl Islands - Except for the part where Lil gave Sandra the win Africa - Cindy is about where Ethan was in the game Australia - Colby is still an idiot ASS - See above. Could've used Brian in this, but he wasn't an idiot. Thailand - See above Amazon - Rob C saved this game from being boring as hell Marquesas - One moment of brilliance (the "How Dumb Are You?" Reward Challenge that helped bring about the power shift), and not enough Boston Rob. Vanuatu - Chris takes advantage of the ladies PMSing and wins. And I'm still trying to figure out how a man-hater like Ami ended up in Playboy (pre-Survivor). I've been enjoying Guatemala so far, and my mystery for this year is how Danni still has an ass after 29 days.

    Fantasy Football Help Redux

Need some help here. I can start 3 RBs from these four: Tiki Barber vs Philly Bryan Westbrook vs NYG Warrick Dunn vs Tampa Sam Gado vs Minny Tiki's an obvious start, but what about the other three? Tampa got lit up by Washington runners last week, and Minny, well, you know. However, Westbrook has 4 receiving TDs, and those count for more in my league where RBs are concerned.

    My Name Is Earl

I was wondering how the $100K (or whatever he has left) was going to cover the wedding, but then they kinda answered that for me - Joy's white trash in a small town. Also, I can't blame Randy for staring at Catalina's dancing.

Kendra is the Kyle Orton of the shows - she does nothing flashy and makes the right decisions, while the other team's offence fucks up.

    SNL Review

What's wrong with Finesse being in more skits? He was barely on the radar at times last year. I have to admit that when I first saw "Good Morning, Meth" I thought we were getting a "wha' happened?" 'Wake Up, Wakefield' sketch. Thankfully, it didn't happen. Falconer - good lord, that was just wrong. Disgustingly funny though. Refurbishments - This is the kind of stuff Dean Blundell (the guy on Edge102 in Toronto) should be playing when he does the "Ho Improvement" contest. He should go back to the "Pike or Porn" contets that he did in Windsor. Anyways, you can't go wrong with juvenile humour.

    Unleashed, Saturday at 10pm

I don't know if it's commonly accepted. But the commentators seemed to think so, and the replays seem to show it. And as you pointed out, he probably should've dropped Newton right away, unless he was afraid that the triangle would wrench his neck on the way down.

    Unleashed, Saturday at 10pm

OK, just saw the "powerbomb" fight with Newton, and I'd have to concur with the analysis that Hughes was just about out, or he never would've dropped him. Still, it's the stuff of legends, and damn if that wasn't nasty.

Who was ahead of their time?

Ideally Bas would still be doing colour on cards that he wasn't fighting on. I like him as the Pride colour guy...

    MMA FAQ

Maybe it's me, but I think that being seated right at ringside is not the best place for judges to watch the fight. They're looking up at a slight angle, so it's hard to see some of the work from the bottom that you can see on TV.

The Amazing Race: Family Edition Thread

From The Early Show interview of the Paolos: Looked good on camera? I gather that means she thought that they came off as better than they truly are. And that's fucking scary.

The Amazing Race: Family Edition Thread

They've noted before that they think using it is "cheating", which is a stance that has been taken by a racers before (Colin and Christie, most memorably). It's not a smart stance, but that's what they decided. Or not, since they were contemplating Yielding the Paolos if they had the opportunity. Basically, it comes back to them being hypocrites, and hopefully karma comes back to bitchslap them repeatedly. Oh, and an interesting side note - the Schroeders lost their home in Louisiana during Katrina, and 8 of the other teams pitched in to help them out. Guess which team didn't?

The Amazing Race: Family Edition Thread

Makes up for seeing Marion's granny panties. Speaking of the Paolos, anyone notice that they did well outside the U.S., but once they were back in, they did poorly? And Brian? Nice job with the hug, kid. Four words for the Weavers: Shut. The. Fuck. Up. Linzes? Got screwed out of first in leg 8 because of the boat. But karma being karma, it balanced out their comeback in leg 7. Bransens. Exactly how many wifebeaters did the girls have? They seemed to be wearing the same ones every leg. And Wally, if the task calls for someone to get head-to-toe wet swimming to a buoy, there's no need for you to step up...

OK, a general one: What are the major fighting styles in MMA? And a specific one that always puzzled me: Was the triangle originally concieved as a choke, an armlock or both?

    The Ultimate Fighter 2

I'd actually say that the fights got better as the night went on. Evans/Imes was sloppy at times - unsurprising considering the lack of experience for both fighters - but it was the type of entertaining fight that keeps you watching and not snoozing like most of the previous HW fights on TUF2. I thought Sanchez/Diaz was a fast paced ground war that made Stevenson/Cummo look like slow motion in comparison. And as Sass noted, both these guys are young and have "a strong dislike for" each other so we can probably look forward to a trilogy of matches.
