WW2 Vet Held in Nazi Work Camp Speaks Out
BruteSquad_BRODY replied to Big Ol' Smitty's topic in General Chat
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Zamperini This is a really really brief version of this man's amazing tale: He was an Olympic runner, Who joined the military, was stranded in enemy waters for 47 days, then captured by Japanese on patrol, trapped in a prison camp for years, the end of the war saw him freed. He became bitter and wanted to find the guards in his POW camp and kill them. He stumbled upon a religious revival and gave up his bitterness for the Lord, and went back and actually told many of the POW guards he forgave them. Awesome book. "Devil at my Heels" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lance_Sijan Another awesome book/story: A Vietnam pilot crashes - With a fractured skull, mangled right hand, compound fracture of the left leg, without food and little water, and no survival kit, Sijan evaded enemy forces for 46 days (all the time "crawling" or rather scooting on his back down the rocky limestone karst on which he landed, causing even more wounds) before being captured on December 25, 1967. Although emaciated and in poor shape, he managed to overpower his guard and escape, but was recaptured within hours. He was transported to a holding compound in Vinh, North Vietnam, where he was put into the care of other American POWs, Bob Craner and Guy Gruters. Here, in even more pain from his wounds, he suffered beatings from his captors, but never gave any information other than what the Geneva Convention allowed. After further travel to Hanoi, Sijan suffering from exhaustion, malnutrition, and disease, died in captivity on January 22, 1968. -
He hurt his ankle during the ECW tapings, Bourne said he wants to try to work through it though.

Well I guess I've lost interest in the McCain/Obama feud now that we had the blowoff, see y'all in 3 years when the next challenger is built up.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

Bischoff makes it sound like he wanted Bret to be a Thunder main eventer, as his signing was mostly due to wanting new faces to carry a show he didn't even want to run. He blames Bret never letting Montreal go for never achieving a real WCW peak. That and WCW's usual politics. -

Well multiple theories state that contact has been made. Hitler and Truman are 2 of the most frequent mentions when these theories are passed about (Hitler gained technology, Truman talked w/ the survivors of the Roswell crash in 1947)

I have to resist the impulse to find and buy the WM 19 DVD after reading Vincent Verhei's F4W review: I was appaled that the Ultimate Hogan anthology failed to have spanish commentary. I am worse tonight because of this!

The "update on the girl who was born without a face" thread turns into a fast food discussion Actually the 1st thread is just horrid in its hilarious apathy and disgust "If an animal was born like this, it would be killed" The 1st post "It looks like Zoidburg!" http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=64770

I'm confused by the inconsistency in UFO abductions and attacks. 1> Why was Betty and Barney Hill and Travis Walton abducted (For example) and for the most part were left unharmed physically. Then Betty Cash and a number of others see a UFO up close and are both burned and/or suffer radiation poisoning from it. 2> Why no Humans left behind in a cattle mutilation fashion?

That's as close to modern day Shakespeare as you'll get.

Its 2 am in Green Bay and our local CW station felt airing a Cartoon Disney movie would be the best option. I'm baffled.

You have to love that we have become desensitized as a society so much that a story like this draws little attention. Now an 18 year old White girl disappears its news for 5 months straight.
