F4W/WON WWE Notes - September 9th - 15th
Noah Fentz replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
The WWF/WWE title was ALWAYS referred to as the WWF/WWE WORLD Title, until they had the two major singles titles. I'm just glad that silly "spinner" belt wasn't referred to as the World Title. That would have been a travesty. -

I'm trying to remember the exact timing that they dropped "World" from it's name. I think it was when they first introduced the Undisputed version of the title, no? No, that was "The Undisputed World Title". I'm fairly certain it was when the WWE bought WCW and brought the "Real" World Title over. -

Nope, and I'm pretty damn surprised it took this long! -

Hehehe...no, it was a cue stick! Back on topic: It may not be the most offensive, but I had a phase of calling assholes "Cock Lint" (the most useless substance on Earth). -

Just don't call them "boy" (personal experience) -
I was pretty annoyed by it, myself. I miss the best ring entrance ever for Rey... Shooting up from under the top landing will never be duplicated!
-
You mean that Koko B. Ware-esque flapping shit?
-
No, the way to logically explain it is that he kicks them in the head as hard he could. ...with no remorse, and the smirk just makes it THAT much better.
-
I'd have to think MNF would be responsible. The WWE and NFL have always appealed to a similar demographic. It's nothing new to Monday night.
-
I smell a JBL repackaging/reinvention...

Jericho vs. Batista... Will Rey ruin his chances again tonight?
-
Agreed. Orton's concussion kick is specifically designed to show how cold and calculating he is, it defines his character more than his repertoire. He shows absolutely no remorse when he "victimizes" someone with it... It's perfect.

For anyone who didn't see it, I found a link to Unforgiven. Am I permitted to post it here? (Since I don't know, PM me for the link until I know it's permitted)

I can't stand Batista, and I REALLY hate his little machine gun entrance, but face it, he's the next champ.
-
I mentioned this earlier in this topic, but it apparently went unnoticed... Since when does a Batista spinebuster damage Kane, of all people, enough to be pinned twice?!?! The ending was ludicrous! As far as Punk, he really was a fluke champion (in story terms). If he ever wins another World title, it'll have to be by earning it this time. That's the only way he'll ever be a credible champion. So, having him lose it the way he did is almost like how he won it. I can see a lot of good story possibilities coming from this, and what the WWE did has purpose, I'm sure. With Cena out, though, prepare for a Batista title reign in the very near future. What better way to put Batista over than for him to beat the most over heel?
-
You don't really think they'll have Orton put him over, do you?
-
Punk's storyline is underdog champion who nobody thinks can win. The setup for the scramble match was THE CHAMPION ONLY HAS 20 PERCENT CHANCE, HE WILL NOT WIN OMG. Perfect for Punk. Also, Stephanie and Shane made the match, they just had Adamle announce it. Although that's true, you were supposed to conveniently forget that fact, since the scramble was later billed "an Adamle original."
-
They took out their world champion, whose storyline defined the scramble match, right before the main event. Yes, it does. There's a difference between Punk not wrestling at all, and Punk not going wire to wire. I bought the PPV to see Punk wrestle, not to see him get taken out with a stupid storyline injury then sit through a listless 15 minute scramble of Batista-Kane brawling that we saw two weeks ago on RAW Pretty sure that was Adamle's storyline.
-
Yes. thanks for screwing over the paying customer! I want to see "Jaded" Bob Barron Vs. Mr. McMahon on PPV... ...I'd buy it!
-
Can you imagine anyone thinking Punk looks credible at this point? I mean, I thought while watching it, that they were going to pull a Cena on us, and have "overcome the odds", and win the match. But no, they instead think he isn't important enough to even be in a title match. They apparently think he's at the level of Sabu at D2D, when Bob Holly attacked him, and stole his spot. It makes Orton look credible, but doesn't ruin Punk's credibility at all. We'll have to wait and see how Punk vs. Orton turns out, though I can't see Punk getting the better of Orton in his return.
-
So you think the Rey thing is a swerve into making you believe Batista is going to heel, only to have Rey heel? Something is going on there with the whole Rey change...love the mohawk
-
I thought they performed admirably. Their timing was good, and Priceless made them look good, too. I look forward to more matches between these teams. Hopefully, another team will come along to expand the tag scene, though, 'cause just how much I can take is yet to be seen.
-
I have to admit, it's pretty cheezy having Jericho come out hurt, instead of Punk doing the EXACT same thing!
-
It's pro wrestling, it's suppose to piss people off. Yep... Get the audience as emotionally involved as possible.

How much hell could a couple hundred people raise, anyway? Heh...
