That was annoying - but considering the show had Jack NOT persist to ask after Aaron in 506, I'm not surprised by dropping the ball on a storyline. There's so much dramatic potential there, and it's not being utilised. Especially Kate - who hasn't made ANY attempt to find Claire yet. Despite being back on The Island since 506.

It was our first discovery too, so the information was intended for us AND Hurley. I'm just saying they could've shown us before Miles told Hurley. Have a quick flashback. Then when Miles tells Hurley, it's not a revelation so much as Miles externalising it.
-
Well that IS the point of a message board. If no-one is discussing anything, it's not really being utilised properly.
-
What annoys me is Miles TELLING us that he discovered Pierre was his Father. You'd think maybe we'd, I dunno, see the scene. Maybe get an example of being shown a turning point in a characters life. Lost goes from brilliant to dreadful a lot.
-
What turns off new posters? NO FUCKING DISCUSSION. I'm trying to throw out bait to get people discussing anything other than 'huh he, how long till this board dies' and people just don't give a flying fuck. Hardly an incentive to stick around.

Good to see a fellow Coleminer. Fucking vintage.
-
The problem is that I don't see a whole lot of discussion going on.
-
So what do you suggest?
-
Simple solution - POST. The place is only dead when people go through this 'oh, it's dead so let's not post' phase. Which, in turn, causes the place to be more dead... and that, in turn, leads to more 'oh, it's dead so let's not post' bollocks. POST.

Awesome.

What my angry colleague above said. If you create threads, and reply to posts, it'll pick up.
-
It does? Holy crap, why didn't anyone tell me? I... I need to re-evaluate my life.
-
Probably.

Give him $10 and tell him to get a very cheap suit and/or a steak dinner.
-
Aha. Well, heh then. Heh indeed.

I read this entire thread from first to last. And I have NO idea what you're arguing about. Not to say it isn't funny, but would've been nice to have a 'previously on THESMARTMARKS.COM' backstory for those of us just looking for a laugh.

Hostility I sense, hmm?
-
Makes me wonder what Cornette could do if he had TNA's money.

The board won't die. Claire Bennett will give it an infusion of blood anytime it starts looking weak.

That about sums this up.

Did you see the potential of the Hassan character to do good or do evil? I think it could have done either of them successfully, but needed to be more subtle. In this day and age, having a cliched anti-American character doesn't work. There need to be more layers. Did you like the fact that he was ganged up at during the 05 Rumble? It seemed a little odd. On the one aspect he's a heel... but on the other, it seemed like they were ganging up on him because of his race more than anything else. The smarter solution would have been for him to interupt several interviews/matches prior to the Rumble, then have him in the ring at the same time as all of them - then you can have him beaten up because he's a loudmouth, rather than have it seem racial. Was this character to edgy for WWE TV? I don't think edgy is the right word. Prior to choking The Undertaker out (poorly thought out as it was, they didn't 'know' the London bombings were going to happen), it was just the usual anti-American character; ableit with a slightly more topical edge. After the London bombings what would you do with him as a character? Renounce it. I'd have him come out on screen, and let the crowd boo the Hell out of him. When he gets there he's acting sombre and downbeat. In the ring, he cuts a scathing promo condemning the attacks. Really brutal promo, almost a shoot. He pledges to people that he's sorry for what he did, and he's not going to stay on that path. From there I'd have him slowly gain acceptance from the locker room - why should they trust him, etc? He becomes a babyface, this guy whose fighting for respect. The Undertaker destroys him at the GAB (naturally), but he takes the beating. After the match he asks for a handshake, but doesn't get it. So then you do a few months of him asking for respect. Put him in a feud with someone like Mark Henry, where he takes real beatings but keeps coming back. Then, when the feud's over, have The Undertaker come out. He shakes the guy's hand in the middle of the ring, endorsing him.

Because he's the Millennium Man, and a feud between Y2J and Sid about who is the real Millennium Man is pure money!

Eh, the thing with Jeff is that he's an underdog. Near permanently - losing doesn't change that. In fact, it makes him more popular. So he doesn't need the title to be over. Whereas Booker T... that storyline demanded he win the title, and he lose heat when he didn't. Here, so long as Jeff keeps healthy he should stay as an Upper Carder. I doubt he'll be champ, but a 2005 style Jericho role is a possibility.

Actually, I can see Cody/Ted getting more over with Orton. Say what you will about Orton, but he makes the crowd hate him - and he's got a cold, detached, vicious side that Cody/Ted could benefit from. The two of them have got superstar potential, and sticking them with Orton could help them get through some of the political barriers.

Is anyone else hopeful Bischoff WILL start a new wrestling promotion? I know he bombed out at the end of WCW, but 96-98 was a tremendous period (profit and quality) for the company. And honestly, Bischoff strikes me as the sort who could take on Vince McMahon and win. He has that ruthless aggression, the drive to win. And it'd be a good period for the industry if the WWE had competition. They get a little complacent for my liking. And re: the talent issue, form an alliance with ROH. They're struggling a bit it seems.
