OaO Monday Night Raw Thread - 08/13/07

cena then went on to wrestle in the 2nd match of SNME not 30 mins aftre the main event so he recovers quickly. anyhow the show was fun. I went with my cousin and his coworker friends ( I lucked out cuz one of his friends couldn't go so he offered me the ticket-DONT WORRY I PAID FOR IT We drove to 242nd street and caught the subway down to penn station the seats were up in the 400 nosebleed section and it was hot up there but you could see the whole ring and stuff, the but the wrestlers looked small so hard to follow all the action (no biggee since I can watch it again on tv plus when you're there live, its all about the experience). we were shocked to see them putting raw on at 7:30, but I guess SNME had to be taped afterwards cuz of angle development with vince, plus ortons attack on cena the only dark match with DLO was great, as DLO got a HUGE pop when we saw who it was (they weirdly played the wrong them for dlo, then after he won they played his "real deal" old shcool song) and he got lous "Lets go DLO chants" he looke din great shape and did all his big moves like the "shakey-shakey legdrop" plus the sky high folowed by a beautiful "Lo-Down" frogsplash. I guess since he was a star during the atttitude era everyone remembers him fondly. all the pyro proved difficult as by SNME, with batista and kanes entrance, smoke filled the arena and it became very foggy in there and it smelled throughout the rest of the show. HHH's video got a big pop cuz they thought he was coming out (I knew he wouldnt, even though you know he was backstage) After the opening segment, it took the roster a long time to get backstage as there were so many of them there. Kennedy had barely got backstage before he had to come back out. The Crowd LOVED Kennedy here not even a faint of bad reaction I could hear I knew I saw Estrada out there, so it makes sense now. before the show even started there were loud "cena sucks" and "same old shit" chants (although they could hav ebeen talking about WWE as a whole. Lillian sang the anthem (badly again I hate her voice) , though I kept chanting for Howard. great chants throughout, including spontaneous battle of "Lets GO Yankees" VS "Lets Go Mets" (no Rangers or Knicks chnats though being in their home oddly) The Idol segment was received well by the crowd, who popped big for Foley and Maria. Shiek and Volkoff coming out got a nice loving reaction and even the USA chants were done in fun. Simmons was over big time here Holyfield appearing on the tron got a huge pop as well as Mike Buffer coming out to the ring. MVPS pyro is loud and very hot, but he still got a nice pop, especially when Buffer read his pre-written intro "And he is straight-up BALLLLLLIN!!!!!!" Vince coming out talking about last monday got a laugh from many fans, whpo kept saying "hey its still monday not sat"" and my cousins friend got a laugh from the hanging scrolling screen thing saying "1 week untill summerslam" the mcmahon segemt on snme went over well, espeiclaly with Balls coming out and saying "Let sface it, you could have Balls as a son" and Vinc eresponding "I don't have any balls" which prompted our section to start a loud "You got no balls!" chant which spread throughout the arena. Coach pissed me off talking abotu Melina being a possible child cuz of that "wm 2 afterparty in LA" which makes no sense seeing as Vince was at the NY portion of the show. Austin of course got the loudest pop as the crowd could sense he was going to come out. the what chants were very loud and annoying though. after the show, Austin kept drinking and eventually acted like he would leave but came back to deman that coach and Vince sing a song. eventually they did,, singing "I left my heart in san francisco"which didnt go over well being that were were in NYC. (I caught some of this on my digital camera, which cuz of my seats didnt come out well in pics.) and then he stunned them again twice more and drank and celebrated. I believe this went out for more than 20 mins after the show would go off the air. we were pumped as we left abd made our way to the merch tables where nothing much was left, but I managed to snag a Kennedy tshirt (the talk loud one hes currently wearing to the ring), while my cuz couldnt get the HHH shirt in his size, but his friend bought a cena spinner chain that he rocked back on the subway ride home. the thing didnt spin too well though. anyhow a great time. weird to watch ECW last night and see them setting up a tag match that already happened. why do they insist on showing clips of SNME in commercials, that gives it away that its taped (though any fan could realize that when they see its in MSG and the same fans in the crowds) poor carlito had to job twice in the span of 40 mins that sucked.

    The Simpsons Movie

I finally saw it last week. really enoyable and not a dissappointment. Finally a story that had time to develop beyond a half-hour. Plus the tons of geat lines and sight gags. I liked how at one point they say "to be continued" on the screen cut to black, immediately to "right now!" great moment, that had the audience really thinking the movie was over. (idiots) my favorite gag was when you saw grandpa was reading "Oatmeal Ethusiast Magazine" anyhow great times and I will buy the dvd to see it again.

you know the malenko-dragon match from the current mnw (2/24/97) is damn good. it had a dq finish bu tit made sense, as Malenko was really pissed at losing the CW title due to Eddies mistake. he spent the whole match beating on Dragon and at the end got dqd for refusing to break in the ropes poudning on his head. but still a classic match for Nitro (and as usual the announce team was too busy talking about Hogan and nWo thats what made wcw so big at the time, they had so much talent in the mid-card roster.

The Montreal Screwjob was a big slap in the face to Bret, but I never had much sympathy for him either. When you are on your way out of a territory, you do the job. I don't care if he offered to do it somewhere else, his employer asked him to do it in Montreal and it was right for business to do it then. That match was 18 months in the making... you don't do a DQ finish and then drop the belt at a house show or Raw. I don't care what the circumstances were. I agree 100 percent However, there might be motive for Vince "screwing" bret, I mean he dumped him a year after going out of his way to stop bret from going to wcw, then suddenly he wanted him gone?

    Boy Meets World

Minkis came back? I dont remember that. Anyhow yea always a fan since it started and watched it all for its original run (TGIF was THE night of shows for the week as a kid) also loved Vaders appearnces. remember Mankind also made an appearance towards the end of the show. a few seasons are on dvd but theyre not exactly churning them out. good thing disney and fox family still air reruns of this. The only bad part was that Feeny kept follwing the kids around to high school and then college. Eric Matthews is still the best goofy brother character ever I say. I like the episode in which his parents get tired of him loafing around the house with no job. he says he has an idea for a new tv show he can star in "Eirc Mathhews-Good Looking Detective " and a theme song "When a crime breaks out and all the cute girls shout, hes a....good-looking guy, when there's a crime out there hes gonna....comb his hair cuz hes a good looking guy!" and the show where he goes out with the innocent folk-singer girl at work and then dumps her cuz shes so annoying, then she gets all dark and gets a hit grunge-punkish record. then Morgan came out singing along to her tape of her song about Eric "Loser-Freak" ("and he doesnt like girls, I think he likes boys if you know what Im sayin) awesome and dont big bro Freds appearance as a collge professor who hits on topanga and Cory punches him in the face. and the show where Cory thinks Topanga cheated on him with Shawn cuz of them two sleeping on a couch together in their "undapants" (I love that line for some reason) and one show where Cory thinks he is bland and lame, and they show on his room wall a picture of celery (yes a poster of a piece of celery with the word "celery" printed on it as you can tell Im a huge mark for this show you can all make fun of me now
  13. the setup to the perfect-hhh-mero situation, started with Perfect coming down to ringside during Hunters matches and whispering something to the Random Chick in Trips' corner and then leaving with her. Hunter got mad and challenged him to a match after a while, but in the meantime Perfect was seemingly turning quasi-face and even congratulated mero on his win and appeared in his corner at the october iyh ppv, helping him defeat Goldust.. The match with HHH was set for the next night and I remmeber being pumped for it cuz I was always a big Perfect mark from back in the day, but I couldntr watch Raw that night cuz I had a ba grade in match so my dad forbid me from watching TV(I was a freshman in high school at the point ok?) on that october RAW< Perfect was "injured" and instead HHH goaded Mero into taking his "mentors" place and putting up the belt. During the match a ref bump happened and then Perfect came down with a chair I htink, went to hit HHH, but swerved and hit Mero. I think Perfect made one appearance in HHHs corner leading up to Survivor Series on a RAW. I think I remember Gorilla Monsoon, saying something about Perfect not being allowed to be in HHHs corner cuz he didnt have a managers license.

    John Kronus: "Wrestling With Life"

wow dude ,great job of showing the man behind the character. Too bad I never got to see him wrestle live, as he only did a run in at the XPW show I went to He will be missed.

    WCW Observer Quotes

it was actually before summerslam, as I remember it well. and the talked about him at summerslam as well as showing him ariving at the arena. but he never appeared. then luger came out to tease truning heel as well during the mabel match, but he attacked the heels instead, then abpruptly appeared on the 1st nitro two weeks later

Thats normal for Comcast dude..(they only hold the program where you left off for 24 hours, so if you wanna get back to where you left off, you gotta forward wind it..LOL) What I do is set my dvd-recorder to record what I want and then I watch it later.. yea me too ss 94 won? damn it. I already have the hart match on dvd (the best of the steel cage matches dvd)and I am not really into seeing taker vs faker again. I could swear 91 would win the poll. thats stupid anyhow cuz now 97 will come on before 94 in the weeks to come.

oAo Monday Night Raw Thread -- 8/6/2007

yea that was pretty funny I watched it this morning. then aftewards the fan tries to run away and you see security running down form the back. anyhow on topic, this is really stupid, but necessary. Since they are acting like Benoit never existed, the tribute show never happened in kayfabe land. they have to do something with the angle (well at least they think they have to) I wont say anything until I see how its handled. besides they havent even mentioned his name much, except for Style and Taz on ECW saying how Mr Mcmahon named Elijah Burke the new face of ECW back in march.

lol just like "Dont go messin with a country boy" i seidted on 24/7 ban dmost dvds, but not on the rumble dvd set (96 and 97 its in for the godwinns) WATCHED THE new MNW today, plus the new ecw. The Ecw Invasion was cool to see again but it was annoying how when sabu is jumping off the Raw sign, they put in a little PIP with Taz talking about the incident (taken from the rise and afll of ecw dvd) really annoying to have the sound muffled for that crap. In the Nwo Battle royal shortie again they dubbe dover Goldbergs wcw them with his wwe one, why? (I thought the original was just a generic song? I guess they dont want to pay small liscensing fees if they have osmething to dub it with.) RE The Flair/Kerry match, geez that match was short (unles it was clipped or somethin) I woulda thought it went 20 mins but it only was about 12 at the most (although reading Flairs book you could understant that due to Kerrys constant drug impairment) cool moment to see though, with genuine meotion form the crowd due to David's death. I liked how Flair came up after the match and told Kerry that he would be back,"no trouble, just tell your brothers, your old man Ill be back to take my title"

Favorite Crowd Reactions to Face/Heel Turns?

I think the Texas crowd was happy to see their guy win, maybe they thouhgt it was a vince face turn instead of austin heel turn? or they were just happy to see him win, then realized the implications and crapped on it.
  22. yea we all heard about benoit's supposed change to raw, but the way he switche dbrands wasnt clear, most online were assuming that he would win and heyman would trade him to raw for goldberg (since Berg was set to feud with brock at mania and at the time Goldberg and Brock leaving wasnt though , at least not Brock) another one, When Kurt Angle beat Lesnar on SD prior to Mania by using his bro Eric to pull the old switcheroo. At the time we had just heard about Angles neck injury and I assumed the reason for the SD match was to change the title and let Angle get surgery and build up an opponent for brock at mania (Benoit was who I thought would fit in there) I didn't read the spoilers so I was shocked.

thanks for that rap is crap, its been awhile sad to think that 2 of the 4 are now dead (hell Duncum passed away just months after the rednecks gimmick was at its peak) funny thing was the crowd actually cheered for the country guys over the rappers. Ill always remmber watch Bash at The Beach 99 live at the old Nitro Grill in Vegas, and seeing the entire place sing along with the Rap is Crap video
