Well they looked like absolute shit but it was against the #1 team in the country. Then again as #2 they shouldn't look that bad. 7th sounds fair. Does USC go to #2 or does Notre Dame make their way back up? Oh and CanadianChris since it appears you watched the OU game I wanted to ask you what your impressions of them were once they got going. You were saying it was a decent enough win and I thought they dominated the second half and looked impressive but I was wondering what an objective observer thought.
-
I hope Bob Stoops is watching this game and taking notes. It's kind of cool that in this two game series they each took a veteran QB into their opponents stadium and won. If only we could get a third game to settle the score. Ok so I was right about this prediction....I was right on a prediction....the end is nigh.

All the analysts said "Well you know even though they had Vince Young I think Texas will still win because they have all this talent." And I tried to say that there were those instances where despite all of that talent they still need Vince to be superman to win the game(Kansas in 04, both Rose Bowls, against OSU(ohio and oklahoma state) last year) and without that they weren't going to win when it came down to it! And I was right. I don't understand why none of these so called "analysts" even mentioned that. They'd just say "Yeah they'll miss Vince but look at the talent!" but they don't mention that that talent would've lose a lot of games without Young in the past few seasons. Is it smooth sailing for Ohio State to the national title game now? I mean Michigan might be hard but they haven't played to well against OSU for a while. I think OU may have figured out a way to beat Texas this year.....beat the hell out of Colt McCoy and he'll get rattled!
-
It's probably pretty much over after that miss. I mean they don't have Vince Young to yank their asses out of the fire now.
-
I knew the lack of Vince Young would screw Texas over. Poise at QB has been the story. OSU has it and Texas has none of it. I predicted OSU and it looks like I might just be right with a football prediction for once......this is my one for the season. I only get one.

Ever seen the show Entourage? I don't have HBO or Showtime....or whatever it's on. -
It was a bullshit call. My friend looked at me and goes "you know this is football."
-
The Big 12 is right up there with you buddy. One show leagues.
-
Yeah but you know people don't view college football like that. You gotta win by over 20 to get respect these days. When Mack stupidly wasted that challenge I think millions of people around the country had the shine of Vince Young wear off and they went "oh yeah.....Mack Brown! I remember him!" Man Troy beating FSU? Is this season going to be called "Whipping boys strike back!" ????
-
2OTs at that. Well it would've been 24 but it was a garbage time TD from Washington. The OU defense was like "These guys are still playing?" and Washington scored quickly. Peterson did a nice job padding his Heisman resume though.
-
Well UW is about to get a garbage time TD and people that didn't watch the game are going to go "Well OU only won by 17!"
-
Well OU finally put the blow out on Washington. I wonder if they'll move up in the rankings or if the bad first half will hurt them again?
-
Now maybe OU can figure it out for a whole game against Oregon. The problem with Peterson winning the Heisman appears to be getting yards. He can't get any because there's always 8-9 guys on the line!
-
Well it took OU a half to figure it out but they finally figured it out.

Bob Stoops is looking for the magic? He's been looking for it for 3 years and he hasn't found it! They haven't been the same since the loss to KSU. All the mystique and aura of OU was gone. IT was Stoops' first blowout loss and it's been downhill since then. The year they lost to USC they pretty much sleepwalked through the season and the only thing that got them there was the extreme experience and talent they had. Oh well. Maybe they'll figure it out one of these days. But tied with f'n Washington at halftime? Embarassing. Plain and simple.
-
OU missing tackles? Getting beat deep? Throwing interceptions? Getting blown off the line both ways? These are the Sooners I've come to know and love since the lost to KSU. They are in for a loooooooooooooong day in Autzen stadium next week. By long I mean it's going to take them a while to count up all the offensive yards Oregon is going to roll up.

I told you they couldn't tackle. Those no tackling sons of bitches. The safety had him.

Most of us as sports fans view sports as something important or almost sacred. We take it seriously and we take the teams wins/losses seriously. We believe that winning a championship and doing well is what is important. Conversely we think that all athletes are supposed to be trying their hardest and are supposed to love the sport. They play because they want to win and they care about what they're doing. But are there athletes(and we know there are) that think it's just a job? That when the game or practice is over shut it off like any other job and go home not caring? All they care about is that they're getting paid? What does that do for us as fans? We've made an emotional investment in this team and then you find out one of the central figures in the game doesn't give a damn one way or another? Who are some notable athletes that are just doing a job and don't care? It just hit me the other day while watching OU play football. I just thought "how many of these guys really like and care about football? and how many are just here to get to the NFL to get paid or to be someone famous?" And that's antoher issue. Are there players playing these sports that don't even like the sport? I remember I had a friend in HS. He was really good at football. He played tight end and he was a damn good receiving TE. However he hated football. He couldn't stand to watch it and he didn't really care about the advancement or the sport as a whole, he just wanted to play because he was competitive and it was something he was good at competing at. I dunno. It's hard to put in words but basically if they're just there to get paid and they don't care about the sport then I don't want to see them. And I was just wondering how many of them there were and if any of you felt as strongly or stronger than I do. or maybe you don't care if they're trying there hardest or not?

Penn and Teller BS is a good source for debunking of some myths. After reading and studying over the past few days there is nothing that makes me believe that aliens exist or have ever visited this planet. Nor do i believe in ghosts or psychics. Of course I don't believe in god or the stories of the bible so maybe I'm just a huge skeptic on everything. I mean I want to believe this stuff. I'd like to believe that there's something cool and supernatural about the world but I just can't. Oh and through wasting time on Wikipedia I read about holocaust deniers...I mean "revolusionasts" Man. Crazy.

Well if I moved to New York I'd still be an Eagles fan so I understand that one about sucking it up. Hell i have to suck it up now. Oklahoma might as well be Dallas as far as Cowboys fans go.

I was picking Ohio State last week because of the experience at QB. After watching Colt McCoy play though......I'm still going with Ohio State. I mean it was North Texas! Not like he had this tremendously awesome game against a big time school like oh say....Ohio State. I guess we'll see but my official prediction is still Ohio State. I picked Texas last year but figured Ohio State would probably win and I wasn't shocked when they lost but I thought they'd probably do it. This year I'm picking Ohio State, I'm figuring Ohio State will win, and I will be shocked if they don't.

http://redwing.hutman.net/%7Emreed/warriorshtm/yukyuk.htm That's one of my friends in real life. The party about posting links to every funny website. I'm contantly bombarded with video links from newgrounds and what not from him. All he does is quote internet cartoons and when we all hang out he usually tries to get a gathering around the computer so he can show everyone 10,000 semi to unfunny videos and pictures.

ESPN is still on it's crusade to do away with the coaches poll. You'd think the coaches poll was just the worst thing ever. It all stems from the coaches voting Texas over Cal(which in the long run turned out to be the right thing to do). If ESPN had wanted Texas in that game and not Cal then they would still be supporting the poll. The thing that's funny is that when the computers put OU in the title game in 2004 they screamed "oh the computer element is wrong! get rid of the computer element!" So they made the human element more important and because of that human element Texas was put in over Cal. Then it was "Oh well SOME of the humans are wrong!" ESPN can't make up their damn minds. If it was up to ESPN then the writers and only the writers would determine the national champion and we all know they have their own prejudices and biasness as evidenced by the heisman voting every year.

Yeah but what if you move from like Philly to New York? Then it's not acceptable to take on the new team correct? What about my NBA situation? I'm love the Celtics and I want to see them win more titles. But now that the Hornets are in town I find myself rooting for them to do well despite the fact that I wouldn't if they went back to NO and I can't picture myself wearing any NO gear but my Tony Allen jersey is a frequent article of clothing.

But why? I want to know the secrets! Argh!
