For one Duvall isn't dead and for two he's already got another film coming out this winter with Michael Caine called Secondhand Lions. He's also making a movie currently with Dustin Hoffman called The Lost City, set in pre-Castro Cuba.

who got no sold by PAUL ROMA

I saw it when it came out. I remember thinking that if the movie had been made in the late sixties it would have starred Don Knotts and Goldie Hawn. I marked out when Gene Hackman showed up though.

Everyone always talks about one hit wonders, but how many two hit wonders are there out there. Off the top of my head I've come up with Golden Earring (Radar Love, Twilight Zone), Manfredd Mann's Earth Band (The Mighty Quinn, Blinded by the Light), The Marshall Tucker Band (Can't You See, Heard it in a Love Song) and technically Blue Oyster Cult (as I believe only Don't Fear the Reaper and Burning for You charted in the top 40). So can you think of any other artists or bands that only had two hits?

According to my top 40 book, as of the year 2000, Michael had 36 top 40 solo hits, Janet had 31. Of course, Michael has had more number one hits, top ten hits, gold and platnium albums and singles.

Weekend Box Office Report - 8/15/03 - 8/17/03

I'll be very interested in seeing what the drop off next week is for Freddy vs. Jason. Especially seeing as how there are no really big films opening. I still don't look for the movie to have legs and I think a dropoff of 50% or more isn't out the question. I'm surprised Open Range did as well as it did and I think that might have legs and actually gross around $80 million or so to be a decent sized hit. -
I'll be sure to check that out and hopefully get to reading Storm for the whole story there.......and so should the rest of you! (Cheap plug)
-
That would take into account that I read the shows and give a damn about you, which I don't anymore. Being retired is awesome. I thought I read something where Thugg said Spike was someone from way back in the IGNWF days and never figued that meant Atlas, who I thought was a new person. Anyway, what kind of name is just Spike? Sean Atlas was a much better name.

You know if I was still active, I would have had a title shot from winning Ground Zero wouldn't I? Then if I could have beat TBS, then I just sit around and wait why you guys play tickle, poke, grab ass in this tourney. I retired too damn early. Michael Craven vs. ??? -Ok, I'll let the cat out of the bag now. I'm returning in this match......as the Memphis Eel. See if I'm kidding. WINNER: MEMPHIS EEL "The Sacred One" Andrew Blackwell vs. Xcalibur -I look for Sacred to make the semi finals. I think Xcalibur is still going to be rusty and believe that he should slowly work his way up the ladder and get into a feud with a lower card guy to establish himself. WINNER: SACRED Nathaniel Kibagami vs. English Dragon -Fuck it, upset special right here. Dragon is awesome and I like a lot of what he does with his character and in ring action. Kibagami has a habit of no-showing when he shouldn't. WINNER: ENGLISH DRAGON Jay Dawg vs. "The Sinner" John Duran -I could see an upset here only if JD doesn't write or has to do a rush job. Duran is a solid JL'er, but he's still not doing the type of things you need to do in order to win in the WF which JD knows cold. He's a crafty vet now. WINNER: JD Crow vs. Apostle -I look for Rando to say fuck it and write a completely ludicrous match. Which won't win of course. WINNER: CROW Quiz vs. Mak Francis -I back the Mak baby. Our tag champs need to focus on the belts while Mak needs to elevate up the card. I like for Mak to make the quarter finals at least. WINNER: MAK Danny Williams vs. Viktor Tarankov -I say Danny makes the semis. There is no way in hell I see Thor winning this. He doesn't have the chops to compete in the WF at this time, especially with Danny. WINNER: WILLIAMS Dante Crane vs. Stryke -Intriguing match up. Stryke has been so up and down and Crane is still a wild card (although we know who's writing him). This could be a real toss up, but I'll go with Stryke. WINNER: STRYKE Dace Night vs. Ejiro Fasaki -This is my pick for match of the night. This is going to be crazy highspot action and good mat stuff mixed in. Like the Dynamite Kid vs. a Tiger Mask. I'll side with Ejiro, but just barely. I want a Trinity vs. Double Jeopardy match at the ppv. WINNER: EJIRO FASAKI CIA vs. Spike -And here I thought it was Jenkins. Anyone from that far ago in the IGNWF is going to be rusty. CIA is a good matchup for him though, as he hasn't done much lately, but is a solid writer and character when he's on. I'll go with CIA WINNER: CIA Show vs. Aecas -A really cool matchup that dates back to the recent JL. Could go either way really, but Show is awesome and I think he's a better single than a tag guy. WINNER: SHOW Judge Mental vs. Annie Eclectic -Judge squashes Annie in 37 seconds and removes his "Mental mask" to reveal himself as the one true Beezel. Then Annie takes off her mask to show that she's really Judge, then the real Annie comes running down the aisle dressed like Kane and shoots lightening bolt out of her fingers to kill everyone. WINNER: JUDGE

who invented the axe bomber, later used by HULK HOGAN.

Lestat vs. Angel -I like Lestat here. He's more expeirenced and more devious. I say he ropes Angel in by playing opossum and then sucker sucks him! Myers vs. Bates -Myers has the size and strength. Also he's pretty much an unkillable zombie thing, while Bates is fairly human and mellowed out in later years. I say Bates attacks head on and gets gutted like a fish. Addams Family vs. Munsters -Marilyn is too much of a liability. Wednesday is much smarter and more devious than Eddie. Lurch vs. Herman would be interesting. I think Grandpa can hold his own for awhile, but then he'll try a stupid potion and mess stuff up. I say the Addams family in a cake walk after Gomez pulls out the epee. Lecter vs. Bill -I'm not too versed on Buffalo Bill, but Lecter is smart and evil. I could see him doing the old attack before the bell bit and stuff. Lecter would wrestle like Flair and cheat his balls off. Ash vs. the Evil Dead -It's like Hogan vs. Savage. The Evil Dead are never picking up a win in thid feud. Ever! Although I say the secretary is a member of the evil dead by the time he finds her. marital strife match -I mentioned to Aecas that Dracula had three brides, but it doesn't really matter. Dracula could probalby win a handicap match by himself against these two. You've got to think Dracula has a backup plan to neutralize his wife and Frankie is a pretty calm and stupid guy most of the time. Cushing vs. Lee -I think this would be better as a chess match. Lee was always the more athletic of the two and I always thought Cushing got lucky more than anything. I say Lee in two straight falls. Vorhees vs. Freddy -Pinhead interferes for Jason and sets up a match with Freddy for the next ppv.

The Giant
WrestlingDeacon replied to A Guy Who Injects Heroin Into Kids' Eyes's topic in General Wrestling
It was at Halloween Havoc '95 that Giant fell off the building. Hogan and Giant were having a monster truck wrestling match on the roof of the joe louis arena. The bumpers were locked together and the point was to push your opponent out of this circle set up. Hogan won and they got out of the truck and started brawling. They wind up on the edge, Hogan breaks Giant's grip on his neck, Giant loses his footing and falls off. Hogan flips out and runs down into the arena to talk to the fans. Then, bam, Giant walks out like nothing happened and kicks Hogan's ass. -
You know, Battlezone sounds right. I could have been wrong on the biplanes. But I could have sworn that once you worked up so far there were planes to shoot at.

Williams has been nominated for four Oscars and won one. Hanks has five nominations and two wins. I don't think that's shabby on either front. Although I believe that Mrs. Doubtfire is his highest grossing film to date.

Press Release From the Offices of Frost Brand Enterprises It is the sad duty of Frost Brand Enterprises, in association with the Smarks Wrestling Federation, to announce the present parting of ways of the SWF and Robert Jackson Frost, known in the wrestling community as Frost. A new contract could not be reached between the two parties and the current contract for Mr. Frost ended last night after the Ground Zero pay-per-view. While the wage negotiated was satisfactory there were certain additional perks and incentives that the parties could not agree on. Mr. Frost has decided to take his secondary option at this time, namely an extensive wrestling tour of Japan that should have him in East Asia until the first of next year. Note that this is an amicable split, despite the contract problems. The SWF shall retain separately contracted rights to the image and name of Mr. Frost and the privilege of producing and distributing shirts, hats, posters, videos, DVDs, video games and other memorabilia bearing the likeness and trademarked elements of the Frost character. Frost Brand Enterprises shall also remain a loyal sponsor of the SWF and both parties retain promotional rights to Frost Brand products, including the ever-popular lines of Frost Brand Cigars and Home Taco Kits, in conjunction with SWF events and marketing campaigns. We once again express our deep sorrow that a mutually beneficial working contract could not be reached between Mr. Frost and the SWF. Mr. Frost would like to extend his deepest apologies on this front to his legions of loyal fans and to thank them for their past and, hopefully, future support. More details regarding Mr. Frost’s tour of Japan shall be released in the coming weeks. Any inquiries about said tour or the ending of the association between Mr. Frost and the SWF can be directed to the office from which you have received this release. Thank you. Signed, Mr. Herman J. Eelowitz Executive Vice President Frost Brand Enterprises

I'm looking some stuff up and the game I'm thinking of might have been Tank Attack or Tank Command, not sure.
-
No, this is a different game. This isn't two player and you can't see the tank you are in. The view is like you're looking out of the turret. You can rotate in a circle to shoot other tanks and every now and again a biplane will fly at you. I believe the story of the game is that it's alien invaders using earth based weaponry. The game I am thinking of is NOT Combat.

I tried it the other day and I was pleasantly surprised. I think I like it more than the manufactured vanilla coke. The vanilla flavor is there, but not overpowering and actually blends well with the taste of Pepsi. It didn't rock my world, but it's not too shabby.

I want Bobby back commentating. It's wonderful to hear he is doing well and has won his battle against cancer.

OHIO Pride: Al Snow Perry Saturn (minus that whole sex with a mop thing) Brian Pillman I'm sure there are more, but that's for now. Come on, some Ohioans help me out.

I actually recieved a personal email from RD Reynolds this week. I wrote him saying how I got his Smokey and the Bandit reference, could quote the whole movie and was a Burt Reynolds fan. He said it was nice to see other fans of "Uncle Burt" out there. Sorrowfully, my letter did not make the mailbag.
