Krush Rush into a Ki Krusher is one that. One last shot before the finisher. But not going into it just doesn't make sense. You've gut them up, not that hard to send them down now.

Man, as much of a crazy nutter and a complete slacker that you are, some of this is pretty good advice really. Because yer, we all need other things to do with the fed besides writing to keep it fun and to keep going. (Y)

How to write a winning match

Very nice article man. Thanks for that. Definatly be a help to a lot of new writers in this fed. (Y)

Definatly a good point Tom. Having different finishers or rare moves that start from the same set up is one thing, as you dunno what could be coming but it's going to be a match ender wayway. But way go for an Atomic Drop if you could hit a Backdrop Driver as you said.
  9. I know that writing style from somewhere. But yer, good to see you setting up your character and building for you title match. Good work.
  10. Right people, I said I was interested in seeing some of these done for the good of the fed, so now I’m going to try writing one. I have no idea if this will be any good or any help, but I can hope. It’s probably just going to turn out to be complete common sense but oh well. Firstly: One that you can actually describe. The latest indy flavour of the month move might be the greatest thing since sliced bread and toilet paper, but if you can’t describe it and write it so your opponents cant understand it, it’s no good to anyone. A good finisher doesn’t been to be overly complex and pretty much all the finishers in the fed are simple yet effective as it is. It limits you and everyone else really. If you can hardly describe it, how are people meant to write counters and such to it. To see it, is to believe it as it where. Secondly: One that’s not overly contrived. If a move takes ages to set up and looks horrible fake to do, that’s just not going to work either. Eg Ruckus’ Kronik, he sets them up for a powerbomb, pulls both their arms through their legs and grabs the wrists, then pulls them up into the air like for a powerbomb and turns around to drop them with a Diamond Cutter. It takes a fairly long time to set up and just doing the move at all just doesn’t look possible without being completely assisted. A far better move would just be to lift them for a powerbomb, throw them from your shoulders and turn around, catching them with a cutter, like Vic Grimes does. Thirdly: Have it fit our stats. If you’ve got speed 3, you shouldn’t be busting out a 630 Senton as your finisher, but if you have strength 8, something like a Thunder Fire Powerbomb makes perfect sense. It’s one thing to have a rare move that just pushes the limits, so you can bust it out at a PPV and all, but that should be impossible is just dumb, like Craven’s Phoenix Splash DDT, no way you could even THINK about that without speed 10. This also leads onto… Fourthly: One you can use most of the time. It’s all fine and well being a cruiserweight with a back up big bomb move like the Orange Crush to kill other cruisers, but if your strength stat and the people you face mean you’ll hardly ever, it becomes pointless. The same goes for having a finishing move just because it’s cool. The other downfall is a complex set up, that can only work in certain places, just like being overly contrived in it’s action. Fifthly: Have it linked to the rest of your moves. Mainly just so that any offence you’ll generally use in your match will lead to setting up the finisher or working over a body part to make it effective. Some flashy armbar is no good if you don’t have anyway of working over the arm normally. Also, this whole “can be used as a finisher” thing is a stupid idea. Either it’s a finisher and make it one, or it’s just a sig move. Any sig move can get a win with enough of a beating on the opponent, as Danny Williams’ Elbow Smashes have shown. They’re not a certain win, but enough Elbows and others moves and they can be enough to win. Sixthly: Set ups and counters. Whatever your move is, you need to set it up. It could just be something as simple as kick to the gut, or needing a full blown other move to put the opp down on the mat if you’re going to fly. They more different ways you can pull it off, the more ideas you have to use in a match. And there’s the counters, the ways to block it, slip out or turn it around into a completely different move. Look at Flesher’s Ego Buster, you can just kick them in the gut, or dead lift the opp from the mat, or counter tackles with it. And because all limbs are free, there’s a range of strikes and roll ups that can be used to escape it. Examples of good finishers that aren’t being used now: Kneeling Piledriver Press Slam DVD Pumphandle Powerslam Pumphandle Fire Thunder Pumphandle MDII Fireman's Carry MDII Super Sunset Flip 450 Moonsault 630 senton Thunder Fire Bomb, Fire Thunder Orange Crush Muscle Buster Satellite Headscissors to Crossface Reverse Russian Legsweep Northern Lights Bomb Backdrop to Inverted Powerbomb/Spinebuster Double Arm Swinging Neckbreaker Wristh Crunch Fishermans/Flacon Arrow/MDII Inverted Diamond Dust Osaka Street Cutter TKO Cross Leged Northern Lights Bomb Step over toe hold with full nelson Canadian Rack Diamond Cutter Moonsault Leg Drop Corkscrew Moonsault Legdrop Rings of Saturn Bridging Double Chickenwing Crossface Chickenwing Octopus Hold Hanging Octopus Hold Inverted STF And now I hope other people will write their own and provide some better reading.

How To Not Suck At This.

I think Kibs is right. In a fed like this, you have to be aware of what other people are doing this moves. The gap between the movesets of those in the upper card and those in the mid/lower card is almost like that between a big name fed and a bunch of indie kids at times. Guys like Kibagami, Tom, Danny have sent a lot of time building certain moves or sets of moves up to get them over. And that has to be respected. You can have a few bigger moves as siganture moves, but there's a line you shouldn't cross. Look at the Rolling Germans, with some of the work being done in this fed (hell, Danny beat Ejiro with a Dangerous German in their world title rematch) 3 Rolling Germans from someone is gonna take out any low vit cruiserweight.

    Building a better character again

My god, I've got people in putting. Good good. Pretty much sums up a lot of the stuff you've said before man and it's good to have it all down. This was my original aim when I put up this idea and the ball the starting to roll. So keep it coming people, as everyone should read these articles, for one reason or another.

    What makes a “Good Finisher”?

Toxxic, it's more a case that they've been done to death and other used as a whole in the fed. That's what Judge is on about. If you want a no kickouts finisher, just have a super version of your finisher as a rare move. You don't really need an Ultra Death finisher, there's many ways to make your plain finisher nastier if needed.
  14. Dace59

    What makes a “Good Finisher”?

Thank you very much for the input Judge, it's what I was looking to get from this. And I hope other people will write about subjects they know about. Danny, Tom I'm looking at YOU for some stuff about pscyho and technical match building.
  15. Dace59

    What makes a “Good Finisher”?

I's say you can make almost anything a credible finisher, given the right character, stats and winning enough matches with it. But yer I'm not to good with writing stuff like this, but I think it would be good input into the fed and a lot of people have things they could write about.

Has there ever been a 5 star match?

It all depends how you do your rating. If you rate sololy on the technical side of the match, the story and pyschology, you can watch with the volume off and it wont make a bit of difference to your rating. It just depends what you're looking for. Just like looking for different things in music. But then you run into problems of missing the wood for the trees as it where.

    Lockdown Comments

Right, here comes my usual stuff: Good little opening promo to set up the on the fly match and to carry on Janus' issues, something we dont see enough of really. Opeing match and the n00bs are in town. Sort of on the fly start to the match as well..Funyon looks like he could be shoved out of the job here. The usual things of being a little like on description and style, but it is a first match so no real complaint to be made. Due to the opponent, the action still feels the comedy, which doesnt help. Going to have to wait for a match against a more serious opponent to see how good King really is. N00b match number two. Little more of a full intro here and some basic heat getting for the new people as well, to get them over with the fans. Riley comes off slighty strong, but that' pretty minor. I dont like calling the action completely throught the commentry in some parts, makes it sort of hard to follow and seem a little thin on what exactly is going on. Again, it's the same thing of a little light on details and pretty spotty with no real plan to it. It just comes back and forth, spot, counter, spot, counter. At lest the finish is good, just holding onto the submission to finally ge the tap. Both of them where fine for new macths, and like most, have the same things that can be worked on just by writing more and reading more matches and stuff. And at least they're showing, which is the main thing. Three way of doom. Dustin comes out and squashes everyone. Eh, if you're going to win like that, you might as well look strong. Onwards, and now we're cooking people. Nice opening banter, which we've been lacking so far this show. Also good to see the choke thing is still going on, running gags and such keep this place funny. Toxxic starts off doing the duck and weave he did against Kibagami, but Spike's faster and can actually land a few blows on him. Some double pysch as Toxxic ducks the Enzuigiri but Spike knows it's coming and re counters. Spike attacking Toxxic as he gets back in keeps him looking like the firey upstart he did against Johnny, as the tumble to the outside. The Spike puns are horrible but in a good way (Y). Spike has to literally fight to get back into the ring, but Toxxic's being a dick and just rana's him off the apron, again making Spike look like the firey young upstart. Spike tries to get lucky as Toxxic gets cocky but it's no good. Even as Spike tries to break into another run, Toxxic just drops him out of the air with a simple move, showing he's the better man (godpush again!) Nice little roll up burst to carry on that theme as well. Toxxic's starting to cheat more, as he eye rakes to cut off the come back and makes another simple more for a close fall. Toxxic keeps on ducking kicks and gets another fall, breaking into his flashy offence for the first time really. Not a shining example of selling, but Spike's playing the upstart, and they always keep coming back everytime they go down. But in the end, Toxxic going to the flashy offense costs him as Spike moves out of the way. But Toxxic's still the better man and manages to counter Spike's finisher anyway. The Double Leg to Jacknife Hold would have been a good place to finishe, with Spike just getting the win from a lucky roll up, but anyway. Toxxic takes out a anouther counter, nice and simple, which works this time and finally drops Spike for the finish. Very nice little match, good writing and such as always form Toxxic and the stories he tells have gotten much better. The selling low key due to Spike still playing the upstart, but the story makes up for that. Multiway madness time now fun. Bwahahahha @ the intro lines. Gotta love Riley being all Kinged out as it where. That and the trumpt call everytime Kingdome is mentioned. Usual intros, get everyone out where in a multiman like this, but with a hint of comedy to go in as well. Aecas takes everyone out at once, and the rest of them have to gang up on the big man to try and take him down. Nice little bit of spot fu with the opening action, because this is a mulitman match up. TMM tries to pull a fast one on the outside but gets dropped. Aecas gets back in the ring and drops Todd as well but then TMM gets back in and drops him. Little heel comedy as TMM tries to cover both Todd and Clark and doesn't get anywhere. We have all the usual things like guys being taken out to keep it roughly one on one, but TMM throws in a nice range of jokes here and here and all the description is good and you know where everyone is. Again theyt have to gang up on Aecas as he just drills TMM, then both Clark and Todd nail flying moves in more spot fu goodness. Todd keeps on kicking the hell out of Clark, even as his leg gets worked over. Clark ends up having it won with the Nagata Lock but TMM's just abel to break it up in time. Little comedy selling spot and TMM final nails a Reverse Inverted Brainbuster for a win. New Triple Crown Champ. Nice multi man, mad as ever but fun to read. Submission match time now. I'm surprised no one's throught to pull that look overe there joke yet with Comet..hmmm. Danny brining up his history with the submission back, but no making MVS look bad either. Simple little opening, where MVS actually dominats to start with, but Danny just shows him up, and being who he is, doesn't attack him while he's down...yet. Danny shows that he can out do MVS fairly easily with technical wrestle so Mike just changes gears there. Danny counters the STH and goes after Mike's knee in return on the outside. Danny takes in back inside and just clamps on the full elevated crab with the head tramble, memories of his old dickish days. Mike wriggles out, only to end up in an Indian Deathlock and get whapped in the face. I like Danny actually trying to get pops, but having it called as breaking character because it is. Still working over Mike's legs and bring up some old history which is good to see as well. Danny pays for doing another Elbow Suicida this time as Mike escapes on the outside. MVS grabs the chair and goes straight for the injured arm then starts to work it over. This leaves Danny fighting without his elbows, and he switches to just taking MVS down when he stands, giving himself time to recover. But Mike recovers as well and end up dropkicking to the outside, his knee having had some time to recover as well. None of the early comedy jokes no, which are still working they way into Danny's match to try and add a little morem to them. Teasing Jujigatame counter, but Mike counters out of it. Usual Jujigatame escape, but there's no rope break, so Danny does a rope assaisted roll out, only for Mike to go straight to the Crossface. He tries to shift into the CSC to get the win but Danny revereses and get the win. Good little submissions match there. Not as epic as others, but good as Danny still works on other parts of his writing and tries to put Mike over as well. Cruiserweight Title Match now. NTD joing Sly on his way down to ringside for this one. Starts off fast, with Dangerous out pacing Sly and just taking him down like the vet he is. But then Sly kicks into into gear, going after Johnny's ribs and mananaging to out pace him to take him down. Back up into a chop fest from both men. Sly's writing is definatly soild and getting better all the time. Just goes to show what he can pull off when he writes. Sly gets a chair but Johnny almost kills him with a kick. Johnny just kicks out of the low blow and heelsih roll up combo. Austin keeps on trucking, taking it to the champ and nailling him again and again as he keeps working over the ribs. Austin ends up nailling an SSP for a win and we have a new champion again on this show. Good work. Promo time. Ahhh, feel Maddix's ego as he sits around watching tv before his match up. And the SWF contines to make a truck load form the Pepsi Max sponsership as well...and OMG it's Ben Hardy! Smell the ego from here, as Maddix continues to see his ego grow larger and larger all the time. And now it's time for our on the fly ICTV Title Match. Maddix has himself quite a line up to deal with I must say. Many bad jokes around just because they have to be in there really. Nice to see there's no default face here. Gotta love the smart fans you can find in the world. Fast type up exchange to open up, then another one but Maddixes make a roll through with the leg for the first cover. Ace counters the Disciple Clash but gets rolled up again anyway. Maddix just goes on dominating Ace, taking him down and stretching him about at ever turn. Ace finally gets the advnatage by going after Maddix's bad knee and going after it again to get any offence in at all in this match and follows up with an Inverted Indian Deathlock to work over the leg. And now Ace lamps that bad leg around the ring post before getting rolled up as he trise for the figure four. But it doesn't slow Ace down as he goes straight back to the knee, wailing on it with almost every move he does. Maddix counters out of the STF and there's a double eye gouge. I dont think I've ever seen that one before but it's damn funny none the less. I like this way of handling a heel heel match, it actually seems much more fun. It's Magen that saves the day for Maddix again, giving him time to recover and nail the 605. Flying DDT, even with the back leg but still not enough. Another shocking small package but no good. Another roll up from Maddix this time, with the tights but still no good and it doesnt work for Ace as he tries the same thing. Hot shot but the Ace Crusher gets blocked but the counter still isnt enough. Superkick is ducked, STO and Ace has had enough, going straight for his finisher again but team Maddix makes the distraction, Superkicks nail, huge flase finish there. Card runs in again and throws in the belt but Ace makes with the powder and another near fall. Figure Four from Maddix, but his bad leg means he gets rolled over but he can just make the ropes to save himself. KICK! WHAM! HOLDS THE TOP ROPE! Jesus, Ace Crusher blocked gain but ANOTHER roll up doesnt finish it of either. Ace goes for another STO, but Megan grabs his leg and distracts him again. Crash Landon and it's FINALLY over, Maddix is the new ICTV Champ. That was really good, started off sort of plain, but soon turned into something epic. With the way Landon is, ever new roll up looked like a possible finish and he overcomes his bad leg almost completely on his own. Very nice match up. Winning promo of doom, just to show off that ego even more. Main was short because exams make me tired. Still, the finish had a reason to be there, and a little SE stuff isnt so bad. Well, when the show finally kicked off, it was pretty good all in all. Just keep with the effort ok people?

PROMO - Icons Being Taken For Granted

Nice little ego rant man. Definatly fitting the character you set up. However, I get the feeling you really ment for this to be a show promo and not a board promo. I also hope you're still showing for your match up.
